  1. Ahh awesome! I got an email too!
  2. I honestly don't even remember how many questions I had but I think it was more than 5. I chose 2W, ED and 4E. I'm in the Phoenix area too but I've had clinicals at different sites so far, not Mayo
  3. Oh wow that's awesome! I guess they'll start notifying us next week then :) Fingers crossed!!
  4. I haven't heard anything but pretty sure interviews are still ongoing. It kinda sounded like we'd hear back in April? Good luck on your interview today!!
  5. Oh wow! It was all behavior questions so I just gave them examples of situations and what I did. I'm not sure if it went well or not but I just gave it my best :) When I asked, she said that she has about 3 more weeks of interviews left so I would say it's pretty competitive. I didn't apply to the Rochester one but pretty sure that there are no interviews for that one - I heard they just go off your essays. Best of luck :)
  6. I have my interview tomorrow! I'm in Arizona and got a call at the same time you guys did. Is everyone from Arizona? They just told me to tell them my placement during the interview
  7. I decided to just stay with the CEP program before risking my spot. If I would've known for sure that I would get accepted in the Postbacc then I would have gone that route but there was no guarantee (in my situation)
  8. When I took a nursing assistant class before we all were in different groups for clinicals and we had to have our phone on us because our clinical supervisor communicated with us through text where we'd meet after to go over stuff etc.
  9. Hi all! I have an iPhone 6s Plus and I'm wondering if it will fit into most scrub pants (I'm starting clinicals in a few weeks)? Also, is it too big of a phone/does it get in the way? Sorry if this is a super random question
  10. Hi everyone! I recently got accepted for the Maricopa Nursing CEP program with ASU and I already registered for all my classes etc. when my ASU advisor told me that the ASU PostBacc program might be a better option for me. For that program I would need to take the TEAS exam still and take HCR 220 in order to apply on time this September. I have all A's in all prereq's except for two C's (in Anatomy I and Microbio) but my ASU advisor still thinks that I'd have a shot at getting accepted if I do well on the TEAS. I asked Maricopa if I could defer admission for a semester so I could apply to the accelerated program but I was told that I would have to withdraw and reapply and I might not be guaranteed a spot in the ASU CEP again. The PostBacc program seems like a great option for me though because it's so fast paced and I could graduate and work earlier. If anyone is in the PostBacc program right now with ASU - was it worth it? Would I have a shot at getting accepted? I'm trying to figure out if it'd be worth the risk to wait longer in order to apply to the accelerated program vs withdrawing, reapplying to the CEP program and maybe not getting accepted into the program again. In general, would it be better to take the safe option for nursing and not give up a spot or would it be fine to take a risk?
  11. My situation is kinda different - I applied for the ASU CEP program and was told I got accepted and will start online this May and at probably Mesa CC in August - and I personally decided to move back home to save up money and am working two jobs right now, one as a server. It's not a hospital job but since you're in food service already I thought I'd mention it. It pays really well for me honestly.
  12. I know about NAU's program but I don't really know much about ASU's program because their adviser hasn't gotten back to me. I like NAU's program a lot but I'm not sure about their reputation because I'm from the Seattle area and moved to AZ pretty recently. ASU seems like a great program but I don't know much about their curriculum or what they're focusing on. If I would be fine when choosing NAU and would get a great job with their degree then I would just apply to their program since I'd be done with school a year earlier
  13. Hi! I'm on the waitlist right now for Maricopa Nursing and I want to apply for the CEP program - my top choice is ASU because of their ranking but because I'd have to complete more prereq's I won't be able to apply to their program until May next year so the earliest I could start is January 2017 ... I'd have 9 months of wait time. For NAU - I'd get in for Fall semester 2016 start and I'd start classes May 2016 I think. Their ranking isn't as good but would that matter a lot when applying for jobs later on? If I'd still get a great job with being a NAU graduate then I'd rather not wait and just choose their program
  14. Hi! I will be done with all my prerequisites and co-req's for Upper Iowa's CEP program by December this year and I will be applying for Fall 2016 semester but I was told by my adviser that I'll definitely get accepted. If I chose to take some other classes for Spring semester 2016 I could also apply to the NAU and ASU CEP program but I'm not sure if taking more prerequisites to get into NAU or ASU would matter? I'm a little worried that UI might not be as respected as NAU or ASU though and I've had some people tell me that it could be an issue when applying to jobs but if the hospitals are just looking for someone with a BSN I would rather just apply to UI I think. Any personal experience or input?
  15. Hey everyone, I'm currently in a CNA program and I was interested in applying to UW for their Accelerated BSN program for 2015. I obtained my BA through UW and I was planning on completing the rest of my prereq's in time to apply while working as a CNA over summer and then part-time. However, I just now noticed that their tuition seems to be fixed regardless of whether someone is in-state or out-of-state? It says here: http://nursing.uw.edu/academic-services/degree-programs/nursing-program-costs.html that the tuition is almost 9K per quarter which is about 45K for the whole program since that is 5 quarters long. Can someone verify if that is true? I used to live in Nevada and I'd consider moving back after completing my CNA course and transferring my license, taking prereq's there and applying to Nevada State College IF the tuition for UW is really that expensive. Nevada State College also has an accelerated track and I'd be in-state after about four months since I already lived there for eight previously. Please let me know if UW is cheaper for in-state or if this is really their cost for the program.
  16. Thank you everyone! I got accepted into North Seattle's program for Spring :)
  17. Hey everyone, I'm looking for an accredited, good and fast CNA program for Spring! I recently got my Bachelor of Arts from the UW and I'm currently working in Sales but I've decided to switch careers and finally try out Nursing which is why I want to start with getting CNA experience. I'm located in Seattle in the U-District/Wallingford area and so far I looked at North Seattle Community College and their program. I'm looking for a program where I could get a bus pass and take the bus to school or find a parking spot easily (one can dream). I also have a Nevada driver license because my family moved to Nevada over the past summer, however, I have been a WA resident and stayed in WA for over four years and I'm living here and pay taxes. Would I have to get a WA driver license again for tuition purposes? Thanks!
  18. Hey everyone, I graduated with my BA from the UW this past December. I'm currently working a full-time job at a start up in Sales. I'm 21 right now - if I would have not gotten a job offer I wanted to do Nursing and even before, when deciding for a major I really did want to do Nursing, however, getting into UW's program seemed close to impossible and I was told to consider Law school by those close to me. I want to get my CNA license and start a CNA class this March/Spring quarter. I'm not sure if I should quit my current job ($12/hour) but I thought I could talk to my employer and see that if I do a CNA class and work part-time afterwards as a CNA and in Sales. Not sure if this can be accomplished but I just want to see whether I really love Nursing before getting rid of my other job. Is there a school in Seattle close to the U-district that has a good program that also isn't full-time? Or if it is ... I guess I'll have to decide now. Please let me know if you have any advice/experience! I was looking to work as a CNA - and work at my current job and if I would love working as a CNA I would go ahead and pursue a BSN through UW or WSU or work my way up to LPN and RN-BSN. Thank you!
  19. Thank you so much! I wanted to talk to an advisor about all this but when I called to schedule an appointment they said they don't have an opening until November ... which was after registration actually. For NSC - if I just take one class each semester or two in Fall probably to apply for Spring 2015 at CSN: I would just have to apply as a part-time student, right? I guess I'll just call them tomorrow and ask them. Thank you :)
  20. Hey everyone, I'm planning on applying for CSN for the RN program for Fall 2014 and I'm missing BIOL 189, BIOL 223, BIOL 224 and BIOL 251. I was planning on taking BIOL 189 Spring semester and BIOL 223 Summer semester, however, I heard that it's incredibly hard to do that because lots of people try to take BIOL 189 and BIOL 223 wasn't offered this past Summer semester. I am currently an undergrad student at the UW in Seattle, WA, and I will finish my BA up in December. Which is why I can't start at CSN earlier. I looked if I could take BIOL 189 at a CC in Seattle but they have different prerequisites up there. Has anyone any advice on how I could take BIOL 189 maybe online at another CC or before Spring semester 2014? I'm afraid I won't get in the first time I register for it. Taking it during Fall would also speed up my prerequisite progress.
  21. Hey everyone! I am currently an undergrad student at the UW in Seattle and I will graduate at the end of this year with a BA. I wanted to do Nursing for a couple years now but never tried it because I thought programs are too competitive and I wouldn't have a chance and I also was not quite sure about what I should in general be majoring in/what career to pick. It's been almost three years now and I am still thinking about Nursing. I decided to give it a try. My parents just very recently moved to Nevada and I've been looking at a program there, however, they have only two public schools nearby and it's competitive to get prerequisites done, etc. I don't want to go to a private school and pay OOS tuition so I am giving WA a chance. I have almost all prerequisites completed, all with a 4.0, except for the Sciences (Anatomy & Physiology, Inorganic, Organic and Biochemistry, and Microbiology). I've registered for CHEM 121 - the prerequisite for Anatomy & Physiology at North Seattle CC for Fall so I can start with Anatomy & Physiology after UW, in Winter quarter. My goal is to try and get into a Nursing program as soon as possible, preferably for Fall 2014. I looked at WSU's BSN programs at the Yakima and Tri-Cities campus but they only have 20 spots for their program ... I'm afraid I won't make the cut. The other schools that seem like a good option are Yakima Valley CC in Yakima (esp because they have on-campus housing), and Whatcom CC in Bellingham. It seems that both schools are ranking their applicants in form of a point system but I can't really check out Yakima Valley CC's Nursing requirements because their website is down. If anyone can give me any advice or recommend a Nursing program that will give points for holding a previous degree or that doesn't require a CNA license (I'm willing to do that for Whatcom or Yakima Valley but it just takes more time/money), it'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
  22. Thank you so so much for everything and all your effort in looking all this up - you just literally made my day! :) For the selection criteria - I think if everything would transfer and Life Science is Life cycle (Psychology class?) then the only prerequisite I would need to complete is Anatomy I. So that would mean that I would have to wait and apply for Fall semester '14, I assume? I guess I would take Anatomy I and then the other classes that are listed for points that I don't have yet - Bio 224, Bio 251, US&NV Constitution. For the TEAS - how did you prepare for that test? I remember no one requiring it two years ago when I looked into nursing programs but I honestly don't know to which test I could compare it too ... and for Math - I'm absolutely terrible at math but brilliant with reading. How did you feel about it when you took it? Thank you so much also for the contact information and the health orientation information - I will make sure to attend one when I'm down there. It will probably be in September though since my family is moving in the last week of August. That is awesome that CSN grads seem to have no problem! I was worried about the job market situation in NV as well because my friends who have an ADN or are LPN nurses have trouble finding a job in WA right now. Then again the job market situation may be better in Nevada in general - which would be very awesome to hear. Again, thank you so much for all your help and advice and looking up all this information for me! You really helped me out immensely!
  23. I thought of going to CSN actually to do my prerequisites there! It's just super frustrating for me because every school just seems super competitive - especially up here in WA - and I don't want to give up again ... I know that I want to be a nurse. I am afraid to just waste more and more time completing the prerequisites right now to get into NSC's Accelerated program or to get into UNR or UNLV's BSN programs maybe .. but who knows if they will even transfer my WA prerequisites and I feel that nobody really can give me a guarantee. Man, this is frustrating. Yeah, CSN seems like a really good option - thank you so much, really!! Do you know with whom I should talk to or whom to contact? I am helping my parents move at the end of August and then I'm driving back up for my last quarter at the UW to Seattle middle of September so I would have a couple weeks to figure things out with CSN hopefully. How competitive is it to get into CSN? What kind of prerequisites do they want? It seems cheaper in the long run - I mean yeah it will take more time with the bridge but I was mainly looking at the BSN option because I wasn't sure if I would get a job with an ADN. And how soon I would get a job, if ADN grads are respected in the area, etc. The way you described it though it seems like the safest route. Thank you so much!!
