Help, am I overreacting or is this normal???
I do appreciate our CNA's, I just dont want to do that all day long. I felt behind the whole day, because I dont know their routines. I guess I felt they should have pulled a CNA from the float pool. The charge nurse had to fill the void, and since there was an extra nurse, she placed me in the spot. I wasnt sure if all hospitals does this or just mine. Thanks

Help, am I overreacting or is this normal???
I am an Rn on a med-surge floor and was scheduled yesterday to work. When I got there I was told that it was my time to float, so instead of floating to another floor they put me as a CNA for the day. I am frustrated, because I feel that is not what I went to school for. I dont mind to change a diaper or give a bed bath, I do it anyway working as an RN, but not the entire 12 hours. Am I overreacting? Does anyone else have to be a CNA if there short. I havent heard of using nurses to fill the CNA gap? Thanks I needed to vent, it was a long day!

New Grad= NO JOB!
I agree with MelosaurRN, when I graduated in may of 2009 I moved out of state and the hospitals already hired locals. I found an ad in the newspaper for a LTC facility in a town 30 miles away. Nobody wanted to drive there, and they were advertising for a LPN and I asked if they would consider a new grad RN. They jumped at it and I was able to get some exp before going to the hospital. Check out the areas where others may not want to go. Also check LPN job listings and ask if they will take an RN. good luck, it will get better

nurse/patient ratio
I work in a hospital in CA and 1 per 5 pts on a med surge floor. In tele floors it is 1/4

How many times should I take NCLEx before I give up?
Do you suffer from test anxiety? Sounds like you know the material based on your gpa. Do you live in the LA area?? I live about 1 1/2 hours from you. If you want to try again, I would be willing to try and help you study. I am a fairly new nurse, only 2 years out, but I found that having another nurse to cram for the test really helped. Let me know if you want to try again. You have came way toooo far to give up now!
