  1. I used Kaplan and the decision tree. It helped me out. At first it was hard to get use to, but I started doing it automatically after awhile. I took NCLEX yesterday and am still waiting for my results. But all the signs are pointing toward me passing. I think it depends on what you need. Do you need more content or practice questions. I thought the Kaplan questions were very similar to NCLEX. The difficulty level is almost the same, but I thought that Kaplan questions were a bit harder.
  2. Yesterday I walked into the Pearson testing center to take my NCLEX. I was sat down at a computer and before I did anything I took a deep breathe, closed my eyes and told myself "You've got this. You know the material. You will pass." I finished in 75 questions and had lots of SATAs and "which pt would you see first" questions. I hear those are good signs. I went home and after a couple hours did the Pearson vue check. I logged in and tried to reregister for the NCLEX and it wouldn't let me. That's the good sign. I'm still nervous until I see my actual results. I tried to check it today, but no results yet. Tomorrow I should have the unofficial results. I'm so relieved its over, but won't be completely 100% stress free until I see the word "pass". Aggghhh I hate that they are making me wait 48 hours for the results! Don't they understand how stressful it is lol What I did to prepare: Kaplan, Kaplan, Kaplan! I took the 4 day class and did qbank questions and all of the question trainers. I reviewed every single question I did, right or wrong, and read the rationales. If I didn't understand or know something I'd look it up. There were lots of meds that I didn't know. At first my scores were between 56-62. Then they started improving and ranged from 60-78. I graduated on 2/28/14. Took the Kaplan class the second week of March. Then after the class focused on the qbank and question trainers. I really wanted to push my date back, but the nurses I worked with told me not to. I had originally scheduled NCLEX for 4/18 but pushed it forward. At work the RNs would say that you never feel that you have studied enough and always want more time to study. Now to wait 1 more day for my quick results.
  3. Your advisor will call you and set up an appointment with you to go in for the financial aid and to get your paperwork for the background and drug test. You will also have to pay $150 at that time. Hopefully you've gotten an appointment already or have had these things done. I received an email this morning stating that registration for classes is Oct. 3rd, but you must have all of the other things completed before you can register. Also, you have to call and make an appointment to register with your student services advisor. This is not the same as your admissions advisor, you will meet the student services advisor when you go in for your appointment about financial aid and the drug test. I called this morning and made the appointment with my student services advisor and was able to get in on the 3rd. I wish they would let us pick our classes earlier than that, but oh well. The mandatory orientation starts at 5pm. Hope this helps!:)
  4. Did you have your interview yet with your advisor and student advisor? They go over your financial aid stuff if you applied for it. Also, you have to pay to have your background and drug test done. I did my drug test and background test and a week or two later they sent me a letter saying I was accepted and it had a Chamberlain lanyard in it also. Now I guess we just have to wait to register for our classes. I just emailed my advisor and he said that they will start calling people mid to late sept. to register. I got accepted into the Addison campus and I know orientation is on Oct. 13th and it's mandatory. Who else is starting this fall at Addison???
  5. I worked with CRNAs at the office I used to work at. There were a group of 7 different CRNAs and they all came from different backgrounds. I was able to become friends with some of them and asked them millions of questions about being a CRNA. 2 of them worked at Rush University as instructors for their CRNA programs. I am just starting the nursing program ( I start this fall) and can not wait to finish and continue on to become a CRNA. I never even knew what a CRNA was prior to meeting the ones that I worked with.
  6. So....I got a call from my advisor today saying, "I AM ACCEPTED!!!!!" I am sooooo excited!!! He told me that he was going to send me a packet in the mail and would call me within the next week to schedule an appt with him and take the drug test. He said as long as I pass the background and drug test I am good to go (which I know I will pass both since i have no criminal/crazy background and I am drug free!!) I am so happy and relieved that I finally get to start the program. Oh and also the are transferring 33 of my credits!! I think they have to reevaluate some things on there because last minute they asked me to send some syllabus from another class so maybe I'll get a few more credits transferred. Oh yea, I applied for the Fall semester and I took the HESI test on 7/2 and left my application that day for my advisor. He had told me it can take up to 6 weeks for you to hear anything from the school. I'm not sure how often they look at applications or how many they let in the program per semester but I'm sure more people will be getting their calls soon. Good luck to everyone!
  7. congrats on getting in!! (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per terms of service) is my advisor too. i'm waiting to hear if i'm accepted or not for fall. he sent me a copy of what credits still transfer but they were still reviewing two more classes since i have been to two different colleges. i scored an 87% on my hesi the first time i tested and my gpa is a 3.7 so i am crossing my fingers and toes hoping i get in lol. now i'm going to be more anxious waiting for a call!! i hope to see you in the fall!
  8. my advisor is (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per terms of service) at the addison campus. i have been contacting him through email and he usually responds the same day. i would try emailing rather than calling. i know right now its always really packed in the office. i went a couple of times just to drop off stuff and there were students everywhere. on the hesi you have to score a minimum of 75, but the higher your score the better your chances. your gpa is above the requirement of 2.75. i would just start studying for the hesi before you go and take it. getting a higher score on your hesi will help.
  9. I think the deadline is next week.
  10. Congrats on passing!!! My advisor said it could take up to 6 weeks to know if your in or not. That is going to be an agonizing 6 weeks. Hopefully it won't take that long! I just can't wait to know lol. I'm praying that I get in because I do not want to delay anymore. I'm also hoping they will takea bunch of my credits.
  11. I passed !!!! I was so nervous on my way there but I think everything went away once I started. I scored an 87, so not too bad. Now I have to wait and see if I will get accepted. I wonder how long that will take?
  12. I just took the test this past Saturday and the math was mostly conversions and ratios. Know your conversions (oz, lbs, kilos, quarts, gallons, etc). I took the A&P section and it would be hard for someone who did not take the course. Look over your A&P notes if you have taken the course and go over the first few chapters. A lot of muscle questions were on the A&P section.
  13. I will let you know. Hopefully we will both be starting in Oct!!!!
  14. Yea, I'm testing for fall. I wish these nerves would go away. My husband keeps telling me I'll do good but thats his job to my spirits up lol. When are you applying for?
  15. I'm taking it tomorrow...how was the test? Did you have to do the chemistry part? My school requires chemistry and its freaking me out!!
