  1. Dear nowin, I feel your frustration in finding a job here in NC and sometimes I want to pull my hair out in frustration, but I know that giving in to that area of hopelessness we give into fear and that shows a lack of faith in recovering from our addiction wither it's alcohol or drugs. I to have found a non nursing job for now and continue to look for someone to give me a chance but until then, I keep in the now and stay away what ifs. We have no control in others and sometimes in ourselves. I do control in what I can do right now and I choose to not let someone or something take me away from my recovery. When god has a opening for you he will give it to you, have faith.
  2. I completed my first year in the North Carolina Board of Nursing Alternative Program and have been cleared by them to look for employment in nursing. The problem is that as a LPN my job market is more geared to long term care which would expose me to narcotics. I have been on at least 8 interviews and was offered jobs from several of those 8 but because of my restrictions I wasn't given a positions, My employment opportunity in my area is also limited to the fact that my past employer has monopolize the job market in my county and surrounding counties. One of my options is to drop out of the AP and move to another state and take my chance with another board of nursing. I would greatly appreciate any input from those who had moved to another state and apply for license while being suspended by another state. Should I stay and stick it out or keep moving ahead and not be beaten up every time they tell me no because of my past.
  3. Need to vent!! Currently in NCBON AP for 1 year and clean for 22 months. Seems that a random drug screen is a little more predictable then they let us on, I only had one random for the month of june and was hoping to get away with not having to pay for a second, but knew in the back of my mind that firstlab would hit me up for the second before the month was out, sure enough on the last day of the month I get chosen for a random, how random is that? Did anyone else have this problem?
