  1. Hello, Who here started out as a new NP in endocrinology? I have an offer to work at an outpatient endocrinology office and am still a newish grad NP. I was wondering what your experience was starting off in this specialty. Was it a steep learning curve? Any tips or suggestions for someone starting out in endocrinology? How do you like your position overall? Thanks ahead for any info!
  2. Yes TheSquire is correct. That article from the BON is outdated from 2008. They changed the rules a couple of years ago I believe on usage of the APRN title.
  3. You can't. I know for sure in Texas you need to pass boards before you can be licensed as an NP in Texas and that you cannot use the title APRN until you are licensed in the great state of Texas.
  4. Thanks for rundown aprnKate! That sounds so awesome. I know working on the Rez is not for everyone but you seem to have found your calling there. I miss being there at times it can feel so isolating. I do think it wound be an honor to work there though.
  5. Hey aprnKate what do you do on the Navajo reservation? Do you do outpatient or work in a hospital? If outpatient how is the practice set up? I spent some time on the Navajo and Hopi reservations and loved the people there. I'm in FNP school right now and sometimes have flirted with the idea of going back there to work with the people there.
  6. Hey there I actually received my acceptance e-mail today! I live in the Houston area.
  7. Actually a B is 85-92 and A is 93-100. Still better grading scale than where I did my ASN. The lowest C was 80% there! UL should boost my nursing GPA.
  8. @tippytoes did you take the online English Lit class? If so how was it?
  9. I just started UL's online RN to BSN program a few weeks ago and I had all of their prereqs done except English Lit. If I take UL's 7 week online English lit class it will be crazy expensive. Did anyone who is/was in the program take English Lit through another cheaper source that wasn't too difficult?
  10. Well it looks like you are on the ball more than me! I havent done any of the health packet yet. I'm looking at doing the fingerprinting on thursday but still need to look into getting a dr. appt soon so I can get the ball rolling on the rest of the health packet. I also have been trying to find some financial aid. Already having a bachelor's makes that difficult. Have you heard of the WIA-Workforce Investment Act? I hear that previous students have received funding through that program. I have e-mailed the financial aid office twice but I guess they dont like using e-mail. I will try to call them and see if they have more info on it. Crazy all these deadlines are fast approaching!
  11. So smichelle and benella89 are yall from the New Orleans area? I am a couple of hours west of New Orleans so I will be moving to there for school. Ive been looking for housing there and wondering if anyone knows of some decent places to live around there that are close to the East Jefferson Hospital.
  12. I have been accepted as well! Letter never made it to me so I talked to someone in admissions and they told me I've been accepted and they will resend my letter.
  13. Just checked my mailbox, didn't get it yet. Hopefully tomorrow!
  14. I'm taking a prereq currently and did not receive a call. Hopefully that is not a bad sign
  15. From what I hear we should be hearing about admission status this month sometime. I have not had a firm answer from anyone I have contact with.
  16. Hey DMark89 did you already find out your admissions status? I hear we are supposed to hear about acceptance in October but I haven't received anything yet.
  17. Cool thanks for the info!
  18. Oh I see now what you mean by the semester thing. Where you able to get financial aid from the college or another source? I have had a hard time getting in touch with the fanancial aid office at Brookline. From what I've heard since it is a second bachelor degree program we cannot receive any federal fanancial aid, at least grants I know we cant get but we may qualify for federal loans.
  19. I checked with someone in admissions and they assured me that they were still having an accelerated asn class for jan 2012.
  20. I've been looking into Brookline for January but thinking of waiting to see what happens with accreditation and to save up more money. How are you going to be financing your education with them if I may ask? Also you said you are starting in the second semester class. Just curious as to how you are able to start in the second semester. Thanks ahead for any comments!
  21. Cookiefairy are you currently in the absn program at Brookline? If so how is the class doing as a whole? Is the retention rate good or are a lot of people dropping out or getting kicked out? Thanks for any help.
