  1. A Happy New Year everyone!!! Thank your for answering my question, volunteerpioneer and manda! @Nurse_Jaydee - I hope you'll get your start date soon! @e_star07 - I just want to say "GOOD LUCK with your interview!". Hope 2012 will be a great year for all of us:loveya:
  2. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekends!! I heard that some of the units at LAC are 8 hour shifts and I am wondering which units are those. Maybe Med/Surg? @For those who got hired - did you have to sing 2 year contract with LAC?
  3. @CrisNICURN Hi CrisNICURN! I followed your posting from the LAC thread. I know your postings in this thread are not directed to me, but you have no idea how much I felt encouraged by your message and I just wanted to say THANK YOU. It's been very tough finding a job in NICU as a new grad RN. But my heart belongs in NICU, and no amount of tears, pain and depression I have to endure during this very difficult job searching process cannot make me want to give up my dream! I just applied to LAC and I am hoping to get into NICU there just like you. I have so many questions I'd like to ask you. I wish I could send you a private message but I don't seem to be able to..
  4. @nihaojailan - I just sent you a PM! Thanks for your help! To be honest, I was kind of nervous posting a message on this thread. But I'm glad I did. Now I am more hopeful and motivated thanks to you all. But I must admit, after this looong job searching journey, I noticed that I am becoming a bit DRAMA QUEEN and sometimes makes me wonder if I am a BIPOLAR lol. This sure is a emotional roller coaster! and I WANT TO GET OFF ASAP!!
  5. @nihaojailan - Thanks! Hope we'll all have huge SMILES on our faces under the nursing sun soon! When is your next interview? I'm sure you'll do great. Good luck!!!!! @Nurse_Jaydee - I sure will keep you guys updated if or when something happens! I found their e-mail addresses but one has @lacusc.org and the other one has @dhs.lacounty.gov after their name. So I am wondering WHICH ONE??!!:uhoh21:
  6. Thank you, Nurse_Jaydee. You truly a nice person. I read your posting and I cried. I don't know why but it touched me very much. I'm sooo happy that your dream is coming true and you certainly deserve it!! I'll continue to follow my heart but certainly try not to be blinded by my own stubbornness. Let's see where my life will take me:)
  7. Somebody help me~~~~! Is the last part of e-mail address @lacusc.org or @dhs.lacounty.gov?
  8. nihaojailan & Nurse_Jaydee: You guys are probably right. I should take ANY opportunities they offer me unless I absolutely cannot see myself in that field. I too told them which units I am interested in working and also mentioned it in my cover letter. I know it's all about timing if you get an interview for a unit you want to be in or not. I'm just afraid that.. let's say I interview for Med-Surg and get hired, then later find out now they have openings in NICU, but I cannot interview for it because I'm already hired.. those kind of thing to happen. It definitely makes me think if I should take any opportunities thrown in my way just because job market is tough, or it might take a little bit longer but wait for the RIGHT opportunities because that's what I really passionate about. Urgh! Why am I so complicated? lol
  9. Ok, So... I would love to work with babies or children. But what if they call me for an interview for a unit that I'm not interested in.. Is it ok to turn down the offer? I know what I want and my mind is pretty much set for particular units. But I don't want to sound picky.. Btw, does anybody know nursing recruiters e-mail address? maybe share with me?
  10. @Nurse_Jaydee - Yes! Debbie. She actually cares and respect which area of nursing I really want to go into & try to find the position for me within my interest. She is great. Sue is nice too. I've talked to many nursing recruiters by now, but those at LAC are so far the best! Gosh, I really want to work there! and with nice pople like you Nurse_Jaydee:) @volunteerpioneer - I will try that e-mail approach too! Thanks! But did they reply back to you? I guess what's important is keep showing my interest. I will keep calling and e-mailing them until they will get tired of me lol. I read your start date is next week!! Best of luck to you, volunteerpioneer!!
  11. @Nurse_Jaydee & @amoreterno - Thanks for answering my question! I was just wondering if it's ok to keep bugging them (A.K.A. being proactive) every week lol. Because each county hospital says different thing. Olive View told me to call them every week, but LAC+USC said they will call me when they have something and they did. Did you ask for a specific nursing recruiter when you call them to inquire about job opening? or whoever picks up the phone? There is one nursing recruiter there that I really like, but I know she is always busy. I would like to congratulate both of you on your new job. How exciting! Hopefully I can join you guys soon:)
  12. oops.. I meant "I really want to work there". Ugh, My brain!! Sorry..
  13. Hi everyone! I've been following this thread since I had an interview at LAC+USC few weeks ago. Unfortunately I wasn't selected for that position at this time, but I really work there. So I won't give up! Congrats for the people who got job offers! I recognized few people from other thread realated to NICU:) I am very happy for you and Good luck!! I have a question for the people who had more than one interview there. Did the nursing recruiter keep calling you for the interview? or did you call them every week?
  14. Does anybody know how often Good Sam offers NICU training program? I just cannot give up on my dream to become a NICU nurse.
  15. Thanks for all the info, Kristy. I hope you got the job! Keep my fingers crossed for you!!
  16. Congrats kristy.w! How exciting! Did you get an e-mail regarding today's phone interview or they just called you? Wow.. it seems everybody had a good day today. Hope I still have a chance!
  17. You mean you got a call from Good sam for another position?
  18. Congrats, Rndjango! Two offers! WoW. Like Nurse_Jaydee says, if you have to pick one, I say go for the hospital too. Because If you have hospital experience, you can go ANYWHERE afterwards.
  19. So I called the Good Sam this morning. I couldn't talked to the Nursing Recruiter because I got her voice mail each time and it was full! But I talked to the HR. Per HR, the Nursing Recruiter is still reviewing all the applications, and hopefully will call the selected candidates in next few weeks. Good luck everyone!
  20. Oh don't give up! I'm new grad and having hard time finding a job too. But I'm tired of losing hope and I refuse to give up on my dream job. Call the nursing recruiter and ask if they got your applications. If I won't hear anything by Monday, I'll try to contact them too.
  21. Hi, Rndjango. Did you log in and check under 'my activity'? Don't panic, relax and breath! I wish I have an e-mail you got. If I were you, I would definitely call the nursing recruiter. NICU is my dream job, so I really really want to get in this program!
  22. Did anybody get a call back from Good Samaritan? I applied to their NICU training program too. But I only received a general "Thank you for applying... We'll contact you.." kinda e-mail. My status says 'In process'. Hope it still is a good sign. How about you guys?
