  1. Nvm...I think I figured it out. I was going to the nursing license selection on the identix website. I see on the Fast pass it says to select other...AFTER you go take your fingerprints. Then electronically submit them. I swear I read that several times and just wasn't see it right :)
  2. Has anyone done their fingerprinting??? I am so confused by now. I tried to make an appt. They said I was not in the system for fingerprinting. I called the BON, they said I was not in the system. I emailed UTT and she said give it a few more days. It has been 2 WEEKS and I just tried again to schedule for fingerprinting...says I am not in the system. I am confused! Did anyone have this problem? I thought they sent your info to the BON then you were in the system for fingerprinting and you just go do it.
  3. Thanks! Yes, I have my appt scheduled. I am doing my interview and fingerprinting next Wed. Would you guys like to make a Facebook page for us...if you are on Facebook that is. Thought we might could support eachother that way and of course include any others that would like to join once we start. Never know when you will have questions at home studying, etc.
  4. I was accepted for Fall '13 in Longview and I just wanted to ask those that are already in the program for some insight...advice. What are your days like? How many days of clinicals do you have? Days of classes? Any tips on books, uniforms (other than the info they gave us), things that would be helpful for me to have/not have, etc. I am so excited...and I greatly appreciate your answers.
  5. I was not accepted at first...then I called...there was a huge misunderstanding about where I lived...I cleared it up and I never found out my points (although I know they were higher since I already have Concepts and Patho and Pharm) ...BUT they admitted me!!! YEAH!!! So I was accepted to the Longivew Branch. Hope to meet you soon! I got all of my info...however, does anyone know the schedule for clinicals. I mean how many days per week we will be onsite for clinicals, etc.??? I know UTA was 2 days a week. Just trying to figure out everything schedulwise and kidwise how many days a week to plan for clinicals and classes. Nothing mentioned that. I am so excited! Congrats everyone!!!
  6. I applied and am on pins and needles waiting! I applied last fall also but didn't get in, although at that time I wasn't quite done with prereqs. So, hoping this year is it. I applied for Longview (1st choice) and Tyler (2nd choice). Good luck everyone!
  7. Wow! So you are in the same boat. I hate it but also nice to know I'm not alone ;(. It really is crazy. UTA made everything seem great. I was so excited that I got into what I thought was the program. I thought you took all of the prereqs, the nursing prereqs, etc. then you start the program. I didn't know you could put so much time and money into a school only for them to keep telling you no. I pretty much put all my eggs into UTA's basket and I guess I shouldn't have. I am so confused!!!
  8. I have been enrolled with UT Arlington for 2 years now. I'm in my last class of prereqs. Nothing more I can do. Didn't get in last term or this one. Because I didn't get in last term, I also applied at UT Tyler. Spent money to apply, take a different entrance test, etc. Still didn't get in. I have a 3.14 overall and 3.25 Science GPA before these last classes I took which it seems I will have an A and a B right now. It is not terrible but not great! I scored 76 overall on HESI. I am thinking of applying to 3 programs. I have spoken with WGU twice and have another all scheduled today. I would need to take Biochem for them. I would need to take Nutrition for UT Tyler (which I am enrolled in this summer). Geez...each program is a little different and you could go broke just trying to meet the requirements of each one just to try to get in but could be spinning your wheels if you stick with trying to get into one...like I feel I am with UTA. What do most of you do??? Yes, I could probably get into a local ADN program and then immediately bridge but that is delaying things significantly. I feel like I am just running in circles just trying to get an education and get into programs. I am starting to feel that it is more about money. When this school requires only this and that to get in and you do that but don't get in, you have wasted your money. Then times that by how many you apply to...it is a little crazy. IS anyone else feeling like a hamster on a wheel just trying to get in somewhere????
  9. I also applied to UT Tyler and UTA for Fall 2012. Denied both. I am wondering how the point system works at UT Tyler. Anyone know??? I have completed everything but Nutrition which I was going to take this summer.
  10. Looking at Pharm final is stressing me out! I have an 80.63!! I am dying to keep this B. Last test (test 5) did me in. I actually felt pretty good about it and got a 70. UGH! I got a 90 on 2 others . Good luck to everyone!!! Congrats to everyone that was accepted. I so wish that was me but I had to put off a couple of classes until next semester so next session I will be hoping I get accepted
  11. I have actually removed my application. I wasn't able to finish up my last 2 classes in time due to family issues. So I will reapply next session. Good Luck to everyone!!!
  12. Is anyone in the Pharm. 3365 that started 9/12? I am so confused. I have been regsitered for the class. It showed up in my Blackboard last week, then disappeared. Then they posted a message stating it was a mistake. Then it never reappeared Monday (the start date). I kept checking my email but got nothing. I ordered my book last week and there was a note when I ordered it that the class starts 9/26. THEN today I randomly go into Epic which I have no current classes in, and there it is with a welcome showing it started 9/12. I guess this is typical unfortunately with UTA at this point. ZERO communication about the change in format, starting date, etc. I am so aggravated at the fact that they could not even send an email. I have been at this school over a year now and it seems to get worse as time goes. It was not this way when I started. Anyone else had this problem???
  13. I have noticed the majority of threads on here were for RN-BSN. I am a BSN student that is not an RN or have any other degree. I started the LVN prgram, left it to start RN pre-reqs, did some of them then left that to go ahead and get BSN (RN). I am enrolled with UT Arlington now. I have been with them for over a year now and am on the last leg. I have Statistics and Patho and Pharm left before starting (hopefully) the program. My thing is that I am really not happy with UTA. There is virtually NO teaching, explaining, communication for any class. I do fine with this except for the math and science classes which have kicked my butt. I took several at my local college to avoid it. It really does suck to try and learn College Algebra on your own. But I am forging ahead. I have considered changing to WGU and I have contacted them. I don't know alot about how the clinicals work, etc. How do you get your clinical skills? Will it be the same as clinicals with UTA??? Also my concern is that I am going on to get my MSN and then Neonatal NP. I did contact Baylor which is where I plan to go and they do accept credits from WGU but I am worried about how I will compare wo other applicants for graduate school as well as hospitals. Any advice or input would be appreciated. I do not want to be a GPA 'snob" or let the name on my degree decide everything but also I don't want to go through a program to not obtain my goals. Does anyone have experience with this??? Thanks and I look forward to hearing from other students as well that will be getting their RN with no nursing degree already. Have a great day!!!
  14. I remember you saying that before. I actually had the high school math teacher tutor me the last 2 weeks but it just wasn't soon enough. I had 2 teens that just graduated with As in math help me review and they were stumped on most of it so I was in trouble...lol. I just withdrew and thought I would start over knowing what I know now. I will be getting help the whole time this time around.
  15. I understand that! I am in East Tx. so I plan on working at Good Shepherd (which someone posted about getting accepted to for partnership and didn't want it...lol) I wanted to be partnered there. I know UT Tyler has a good program there but there it is mostly on campus. I may be better making the drive. It is an hour and 15 min. for me. They have a huge new beautiful health science center.
  16. I took Intermediate to refresh myself and had a 106 final grade so I thought I'd be ok. I took it f2f. I am actually going to be in and out of town working with my husband so I have to do this online. I am hoping with the DVDs and online tutoring maybe I can do it. I know I could do well if I just KNEW the concepts. My best friend has failed college algebra twice...she only gets one more chance. I have to pass it somehow.
  17. Just popped in...been a while and was catching up. Kids went back to school today so I have a minute...lol. I had a FULL summer course load with 4 kids and a husband working out of town it sucked. My GPA slipped to a 3.2. I am taking Pharm that starts 9/12. I am taking College Algebra that starts today for the 2nd time. I withdrew last time. It is terrible but this is how I have to take it. Has anyone taken this class and how did you do well? There is NO teaching. I have bought DVDs that I am going to start on to try to teach myself. I have to get through it this time. Then I am taking Statistics that starts 10/24. I have decided to wait until Fall 2012 to enter the program. I applied for Jan. 2012 but IF I am called I will ask to be moved I guess. Can you do that??? Also, Congrats to everyone that took Micro...that class was horrendous. I have posted about it before. I ended up with a B which I was happy with. I wish everyone luck with classes starting today. I am noticing a general negativity regarding UTA BSN program now. I have some complaints myself but don't have anything else to compare it to really except my local community college. I am also wondering if I should start looking somewhere else. I have come so far though.
  18. There is NO teaching! It is set up easy. Each chapter has 6 sections (of different material) and you do each homework section then the Ch. test for each of the 5 chapters then the final. Today was the last day to withdraw so I went through it all to see if I could pull off a passing grade and couldn't. What infuriates me is that I finally resorted to getting tutoring the last week and made As on all of the homework, then did the review for the chapter and would miss 1-2 so thought I was good for the Ch. test but then I would bomb it. The problems on the Ch. tests are not like the review. They are much more difficult and different from what you did. I failed 3 out of 5 of the ch. tests so I was just not going to even try to do the final. I had a 64 in the class. You better have someone that can sit with you and show you how to do the problems.
  19. Ok, I was enrolled in College Algebra online with UTA. It was terrible! I had a 106 final grade in Int. Algebra last semester so I thought it would be fine. I am going to take it at my local comm college this sem. My question is has anyone here taken the statistics online with UTA??? I was wondering if it was as difficult to do online. I am usually a pretty quick learner and an A student accept for Microbiology. But there was NO teaching going on in College Algebra. Any input about the statistics class is greatly appreciated!!!
  20. I can not send PM yet since I don't have enough posts. The Ch. 11 summary does not have to be really detailed. I wrote it on the different types of decontaminations. I listed the different types, what they were used for, etc. I got a 100...I am pretty sure everyone did. Don't stress about it. It was just a paragraph about a topic in the chapter.
  21. The labs are a "guaranteed A". Trust me...a kindergardener could pretty much do it. You have a study guide with questions and you read the section on the CD and answer the questions. It follows it word for word. Then sometimes you have to look at pictures of slides to answer the questions. SUPER easy and takes no time. Hard to believe the same instructor set up the lab and the class because they are night and day :) It usually does take them a while to get stuff graded though. hang in there!
  22. You have to be cleared through the instructor or coach before the labs are available to you after you take the lab safety test. You will not use anything in that lab paq except for the CD. I am selling mine! You will view the slides and use the reading material on the CD. Everything in my paq is still sealed in plastic! Good luck!!!
  23. I did! I am trying to get a part time position with Good Shepherd also but haven't yet. I have applied already and put that I wanted GSMC as my partner hospital. That is what my coach said to do. I asked when we would hear if we were accepted and she told me by Nov. What have you heard?
  24. Hey McKinneyMom! I got a 78 on the final. I am disappointed in myself and also the course. The questions threw me. I learned a lot though! I had defined terms and how they related to eachother but I did not go into detail enough as to how one thing relates to another. I will be honest...I am in Chemistry now and it is a summer excellerated class so I am in class 5 hours a day M-F plus the 3 classes I am taking with UT plus 4 kids that are out for summer plus raising dogs and horses on 32 acres that needs to be tended to while my husband works out of state! WHEW!!! So, I DID NOT spend the time needed for this class. Being an A student, I usually do well without a whole lot of effort and this class was not one that was possible in. I did what I could I guess but I got discouraged early on and mentally gave up I think. So, that is the responsibility from my end that failed! The responsibility from UT's end is the way the course is set up. It was not a learning environment at all and I have had plenty of online courses that have been so that is not an excuse. If you take this class make sure you have the time to "teach yourself" Micro and make really thorough notes. I could have done better but it is done and I will lick my wounds now... ;0) I am so happy for you pulling an A...that is awesome in this class especially and really says a lot about you as a student and your commitment! Good Luck everyone!!!
  25. I finally sent a mass email complaint and was bombarded with emails from other students that felt the same way, had complained or had dropped it. I was in a time crunch also. I risked it. I would have loved to have dropped it. She did blast me for using the student email to "vent" but she did make a few changes. She changed the "notes" which were 60-70 pg power points that you basically were expected to memorize. The notes were better, however, I really found that my book was better to use still. I made very explicit notes going through each chapter of all bold terms along with the pg. number if I needed to refer to it for the quiz (sorry if you disagree but it is the only hope in this class unfortunately.). The quizzes are 20 questions and you have 25 min. So you better have good notes Also, like I said, she will not tell you or show you what you missed so you have no way to know which is the big problem for the final. The labs, on the other hand, are simple. They are pretty much handed to you! I had an A lab avg. but F quiz avg. My lowest grade on a quiz was 45!!!! The highest was an 88. I am sitting at a 79.23 right now so I am praying I can pull a B but I am not getting my hopes up. I will post tomorrow how the final is. I would be more than to help you in any way I can. I know how it is to NEED the class and to struggle with it. Just so you know, many students told me the Chemistry class is even worse which I can't imagine. I am taking it locally right now instead of with UTA. I wish I could've done that with Micro!
