  1. When I was in the hospital about 2 years ago i was having some heart issues and was in the telemetry unit/CCU step down and they had 24 hour visiting and my boyfriend could sleep over. I actually enjoyed it because I was in the hospital for a week and I was away from all other family and it was scary being the patient. But he was good when it came to test and doctor rounds he ask me if I wanted him to step out. But it can be a comfort to the patient. it could also help that my boyfriend is a cop and was in uniform hahaha
  2. hey everyone! I am currently enrolled in LPN school and exploring all my career options. Although I am sold on geriatrics I have always been interested in psychology so I was wondering if a career as an addictions nurse was an an option with an LPN degree? Any help would be much loved! Thanks Kelly
  3. so anyone of you lovely young men and ladies joining me at MCVSD vocational for LPN this fall? It will sure be a great time!
  4. Monmouth County Vocational School
  5. So I was in an LPN program at a local vocational school and....I failed but they are re-admitting me for September 2012. Has anyone else been in this situation? Is it possible to pass nursing school my second time around?
  6. so amazingly after a very long and then way to quick summer I start LPN school tomorrow!!!!!!!! I am so excited and oh my god so nervous. I have no clue what to expect. Any words of wisdom or anyone else starting tomorrow??
  7. I'm going into nursing knowing that I want to work in a *cue the gasps* nursing home.
  8. wow i was suprised by the techinal infor everyone told me that I would lose all my techinal skills! and i could never work with babies haha babies scare me. well other peoples scare me haha make sense??
  9. So I am in LPN school and work as a Care Manager (fancy term as a CNA/Home Health Aide) in an assisted living place and I adore it!!!! I look foward to going to work each day and smile though every shift. I have been doing this for years and love it. When people ask me what field of nursing I want to go into I say LTC or Assisted Living and they look at me like I have two heads!!!!! Is that really that weird?? Yes, I know I won't get to use as many "technical" skills but I love hearing the stories, making the residents smile and being there because quite frankly some of them haven't seen their family in years and you are the only one who are there for them. And isn't nursing about caring? Oh and I float to dementia too and I LOVE it! Does anyone else feel that way? Do you think I am crazy? Also, Will I be doing much Bedside care as an LPN or will it be up to the CNAs? If i want to be doing much care what is better AL or LTC??
  10. class of 2012 here at MCVSD in NJ! YAY us! Good luck to all of us! I know we wil all get A's and then will all be crying about how hard it is in 2 months haha. We will ALL be great future nurses Oh PS I start September 6 straight thur June :/
  11. just an FYI obtaining your LPN isn't for someone less intellegent. LPN is hard so I wouldn't say "just her LPN" that is one of my biggest pet peeves!
  12. In New Jersey Paramedics can declare on the scene but once CPR is started by EMS (that is to say EMT-Basics) CPR cannot be stopped because that would be patient abandoment.
  13. In New Jersey if you have an RN you can challenge the EMT-B test (written and clinical) but you need a bridge program for paramedic.
  14. student malpractice insurence is $20 dollars/year. much less then I thought so that is a plus! Oh congradulations by the way :redpinkhe
