  1. Lilpoka, I would've cried too if I was accepted into 3 schools! Wow! I hope you saved all your acceptance letters! You can look back and remember all the good feelings that came over you when you received them! I also saved my letter from OHSU even though I wasn't offered a spot to remind me that I just have to work harder =P I give you lots credit for taking classes even before nursing school starts!! I decided to take on the hard job of doing absolutely nothing, no studying, nothing!
  2. Thank you Lilpoka! I almost peed my pants! Almost cried! How many times did you jump up and down when you got accepted?!Goodbye to prereqs and it's finally time to get down to business!
  3. Thank you emmyers!! I can't believe Mt. Hood starts so soon! I'm excited for you! My gf is at mhcc right now and she loves the program. I'm sorry I can't suggest much places to get titers since I got all of them with kaiser. Goodluck!
  4. Thank you Lilpoka! I believe your response was the magic touch!:) I finally got a call from PCC yesterday!! I was at work and when I went to check my cell I saw that I missed the call by 5 minutes. I called them back in a heart beat and accepted!
  5. Thank you SushiOConnor! It's so fast paced I forget to be patient sometimes! I accepted the school in Colorado, but you're right I still have two months! I just want to find out soon so I can mentally/physically prepare myself and get everything ready versus getting a call the day before class starts. I would still be very grateful to receive a call the day and would accept it in a heart beat but it would be nice to know ahead of time. Which program are you attending?
  6. I'm afraid so Jimithing 112, i'm afraid so:( if I don't hear from PCC soon I will call again in 2 weeks but thanks for responding! I feel crazy for asking around trying to find out info. I just have to cross my fingers and be patient.
  7. Goodevening everyone! Could someone please help me out and calm my mind!! I called PCC again today and i'm now at the #1 spot on the waitlist!:) Does anyone know someone/friend that already put in their payment and accepted their spot at PCC, but is thinking about DROPPING their spot?? The reason I moved from #2 up to #1 is because I know the girl who gave up her spot at PCC since she decided to go with Mount Hood. Tomorrow she's going to decline her spot at Clackamas and she said that maybe someone already in at PCC will drop and go with Clackamas instead! I accepted my spot in a program but it's all the way in Colorado! I hope I could stay here in Oregon! plus I can't cook so I'd miss my momma's cooking wayyyy too much! Thank You!
  8. Good evening dlady777! Today I received my acceptance letter from OJC for the full time program this fall! Yeeehaay! I feel like I just got swept up by a tornado because everything is happening so fast. I have until next week Friday to accept or decline. My first choice school here in Oregon still hasn't called me back since I'm waitlisted at #2. I will just have to wait, but if not... I will do what I have to do and make the move to La Junta! What are your classes? It looks like I'd start off with 13 credits math103, nur109, and nur112. Hopefully we'll have a class together!
  9. Thank you Share13 for the words of encouragement! I let them know that I did complete my CPR and immunizations and now all they have to do is call me! They lady just started laughing I work most of the day so I told everyone that i'm waiting for a very important call so I need to have my phone with me! So close but so far!
  10. Congratulations Share13!!! This is my first time posting for PCC but I'm not new to this forum. I feel like a creep, because I've been reading.... well....more like stalking this discussion since the application deadlines in February. I was waitlisted at pcc #65 and I pretty much gave up all hope. It wasnt until I read that you got accepted at #61 that a sparked a little bit of hope. I quickly called the nursing dept. to find out where they're at. They said that I'm now #2 on the list! I don't want to get my hopes up but what are the odds that 2 more people will decline?.... I have my CPR and immunizations completed...but I thought everyone already put in their deposit?Thank YouCJ
  11. Goodevening dlady777, It was definitely heart breaking hearing that their slots are full because I went there with high hopes! It's frustrating because I have to constantly call Becki Lease, Kim Juul, and Reina (in charge of transcripts) to make sure they received all my information. They said they would send it to Becki but they'd forget:( Either way I enjoyed my visit there, the Safeway in La Junta is awesome lol! I'm afraid my app isn't competitive enough to be considered but here's what i'm applying with: Accuplacer Scores: reading 107 / math 101 eng121 A psy215 A A&P1 B A&P2 A Micro B Nutrition A psy101 A mth103 haven't taken it patho haven't taken it I will take your advice and still apply for this July 2nd deadline. The fact that OJC is partnered with USCC ? so you can start on your bachelors degree while in your second sem. of the nursing program is really appealing! I've never seen those live streaming cameras where you can sit at OJC & attend a lecture in the USCC classroom! Goodluck this fall and I hope I can join you or be right behind!
  12. I will never forget my visit to La Junta especially to Hogs Breath Saloon! Everything was pretty much deep fried & the Chicken Butts that you suggested + the mountain oysters put me into a deep food coma. It was ahhhmazzing! I was surprised how small of a town it was, since I went to watch a movie (there were only two movies playing and two showtimes!) I feel if I moved out to La Junta for nursing school, it'll be good to be in a small town & be away from any distractions! As far as the program, I met with Lavona & she said that at this time the full time (40 students) & part time (30) slots are filled. Which is a bummer, however I will still apply and hope that someone decides not to go and i'm at the top of the list...hopefully! I'm happy u got a call 10 days before! I hope if I do get in, i'm notified sooner because I'm not sure if I can drop everything here & pick up and move a week before the program starts! Thank You again!
  13. Kate, Congratulations on getting accepted! All your hard work & sacrifices paid off! Like Gio5521, I'm also interested in applying to the program. I was able to find your HESI scores from a previous post, but could you tell us what was your grades for the prerequisites? Eng121, Psy235,Bio201,202,204 & optional prereqs such as Nutrition,Math103,Patho, etc. Thank You, Crystal C.
  14. Goodevening dlady777, I received your PM and responded! Have you already been accepted to the NP this fall? If so, Congratulations!!:w00t: I was confused because there's 4 applications deadlines. I wanted to apply for the last app. deadline July 2, but I feel if they already have enough people accepted for the cohort then what will they do with the rest of us? I'll be at the info session this Monday, and I'll go exploring around the campus & hopefully check out the labs! I've been blowing up Mrs. Lease phone for the past month so it'll be nice to actually talk face to face.
  15. Blakese, Now I really want to attend OJC! Thank you for taking the time to give me all this information & thoroughly answering all my questions! Seems no one likes to share information here in OR! So far I turned in my transcripts, took the accuplacer tests and I'm flying down this saturday to attend their information session this Monday! I will have plenty of questions for them as far as how many people do they accept, and if they start in the Fall...their point system...etc. Thank you for the heads up on Clinical Calc. I'm afraid I won't be considered since I don't have that and Pathophysiology completed. I will post back after the information session & after I try those chicken butts! I always loved coming to CO since they have Rudy's BBQ but I might have a new love:bowingpur
  16. hello nurses/future nurses! i was hoping you guys could take the time to answer some questions. i realized that searching for discussion threads regarding ojc's nursing program has been very difficult! i'm currently living in oregon but i'm planning to move down to la junta. the fact that ojc has 4 application deadline dates is new to me because schools up here only have one. i just wanted to know how soon after the deadline were you notified that you were accepted? how did they notify you? i'm applying for the last application deadline which is july 2. how many people are usually accepted? if you guys don't mind could you provide some background info. if you were accepted/declined. factors such as your accuplacer score on math/reading, gpa for prereqs (english comp, a&p1&2, human development, microbiology) and did you complete the other prereqs (not the required ones but supplemental) the math 103 clinical calc.,nutrition,humanities/social science, pathophysiology? i would like to get a feel and see what area i can improve in. thank you & take care!

  18. Hi IHH-13! As soon as I got the e-mail saying the scores were posted I dropped everything I was doing! I ended up getting a 45 on the essay, I'm not sure what happened to the other 5 points. Maybe I forgot something! My points total out of the 365.000 is 334.375 It really sucks since I forgot to turn in a second Course Evaluation for my second transcript! I'm curious what did everyone get for their total score out of 365? It's nice to have an idea since we won't find out until June!
  19. indiejonesRN, thank you so much for answering my questions. I'm finally done with the HESI, and i'm just waiting for the letters to be mailed out on the 29th. I hope you don't mind, but I have one last questions for you haha. Since you got your Associates Degree in Nursing from Carrington, what school are you planning to get your Bachelors Degree in Nursing? Thank You, jill
  20. Hi Bristowa! I attended their info session and went along for the tour. I'm in love with the campus, away from distraction (which is perfect for me) and the simulation lab is beautiful!! The cut off date is July 22, and they send out letters July 29. They start Aug. 29. They accept students after an: interview letter to admissions copy of hs diploma/ged background check drug screen and most importantly.... a min. score of 75% (Math, Reading, Vocabulary) on the HESI A2. I didn't realize that private schools are just as competitive! Since they're only accepting 32 students, with the highest score on HESI A2 + after meeting the requirements above. I just wish it wasn't 48K but it'll all be worth it.
  21. indiejonesRN, if you don't mind me asking, what was your score on the HESI A2 test for the Math, Reading, and Vocabulary? I'm applying to Carrington, and they said they're only accepting 32 students so I'm curious. Thank You!
  22. Hi Linz_Taylor! I attended the information session and I harassed them with a ton of questions! I was worried whether or not my credits will transfer INTO the program, and AFTER the program when I want to get my BS. Since they're a private school, you would have to take the RN to BSN route with a private school under the same as Carrington which I think is DeVry. But the great part is you can transfer prerequisites into the program, and would only have to take the classes you haven't taken. For example semester 1: a&p, math, english, psych (i've taken everything but communications in semester 2, so they would move that class up to sem1 & i'd only have to take that one class) semester 2: communications, sociology, a&p2, micro, nevada history (i haven't taken nevada history so i'd only take that one for sem2) semester 3: nursingfund, pharm, medsurg. The cut off date is July 22, and they will send out the letters July 29
  23. Hi Heartbeep! I'm planning on attending Carrington College RN program this upcoming August, and I've also been trying to find out more information. I contacted the Nevada Board of Nursing and they sent me the NCLEX pass rates. So far, the Reno location has only graduated their first class of 19, which all passed with 100%. I've been trying to hunt down some of the students to hear about their experience but no luck.
  24. Congratulations indiejonesRN! I'm flying down to Reno for the information session and HESI test, but the wait is killing me. Could you please share with us your experience at Carrington? How was your schedule for the week? Did you feel prepared at the end of the program to take the NCLEX? Thank you!
