  1. I am at my first semester at CEC and we have only lost 3 or 4 people as the semester is about to end
  2. I am at CEC and we have lost 3 or 4 people so far this semester....So we still have a pretty full class. I cannot believe that the program is so competitive that a high 55 did not get in. I am happy to almost be finished with my first semester. It has flown by and been really enjoyable. It was not anywhere as difficult as I was expecting. I would not be discouraged by what other people say about the program.....you will quickly find out what works best for your studying and you will do just fine. Good luck!
  3. My ranking number was 54.79 and I barely made it in. My ranking was 118 and I got in due to people declining, etc. The Spring will be a tough semester to get in your first time, because there were over 400 that appiled for Fall 2011 and they only accepted 120. That leaves over 280 people that will likely be reapplying. I wish you the best thought! :)
  4. I was in the Eastview nursing office the other day turning in paperwork and saw on the dry erase board on the wall that they had 30 students marked for each of the four locations, which I would assume means they are accepting only 120 students.
  5. I haven't heard anything about the hiring situation. The people whom I know who got accepted after the original 108, were ranked before 120. Last I heard they were on 123 from people who had declined or deferred though. We had to do our background check by July 15 and our nursing packet with all our various paperwork is due by August 1st. I would think since those deadlines are approaching, that if you haven't gotten accepted yet, it might not happen. I would not completely give up hope though, because you never know. :)
  6. For anyone shopping for one, I just ordered my stethoscope from steeles dot com and they have the best prices I could find on the web for Littmans. I ordered the Littman Master Classic II for $100 including shipping and they shipped the same day. For a good starter stethoscope, they have the Littman Lighweight for $42 plus shipping which is a great deal as well
  7. It is so exciting to be officially registered for Nursing School. It has been a long road to get here but so worth it.
  8. I was about to purchase the Medical Surgery book and wanted to see if anyone had any input about getting the 7th edition as opposed to the 8th edition. I'm sure like most textbooks, there is not much that has changed. Anyone have any thoughts?
  9. I completed my CPR class today with Janna from Sav-A-Heart and her class was wonderful. Her next class is next tuesday at 9 AM. The classes are done out of her home and are super laid back. You receive your AHA cards on the spot. Their number is 257-0508.
  10. Has anyone received their email to register?
  11. Landau is definitely the correct color. The Cherokee color is a little off compared to the Landau ones from what I've seen with them side by side. I have been told that the Cherokee is fine by some people, but I would not personally want to be the one wearing the off colored scrubs. When they sold used scrubs to my Nursing Skills class it seemed like most of them were Landau. Total Uniforms gives you a discount for being an ACC nursing student, so their prices are actually cheaper than what Landau was at the Uniform at the outlet mall in Round Rock. Hope this helps!
  12. I would not worry about the math and reading sections at all. They are super easy. The A & P section was not too difficult, It was random questions about certain things. Nothing too techinical. I would recommend a study guide to help you get a study plan and I would just go over your Physiology book if you still have it.
  13. I just ordered my Nursing Skills textbook from Barnes and Noble. I went ahead and got the bundle with the study guide and dvd pack. I used a 10% off coupon (code P4U7L9E) and got the hardcover book with the total being $160 with tax and free shipping. I just wanted to make sure I had it for the start of class as the consensus seems to be the DVD's are very helpful. Since it is only a 6 week class this summer, I feel any extra help will be beneficial. I will be taking Nursing Skills in RR on Mon/Wed. Anyone else taking this class?
