I am really grateful for everyone who has been contributing to this forum. I’ve learned a lot by reading through other people’s posts on their experiences. Every information, every input posted on this forum is of great help to others. I am just about to undergo my bridging course this April at Lonsdale Institute/Alpine Health. I have applied for a visitor visa subclass 600-business stream (I believe this has replaced the previous visa 456 and several other visas). So far, here’s my timeline: Last week of January 2014- Looked for an NMBA-approved study provider, had a telephone interview with Lonsdale Institute, got an offer (Letter of Offer for March intake), settled tuition fee deposit, obtained a confirmation of enrolment for March intake, gathered all the necessary documents for my visa application (visitor visa subclass 600-business stream). February 25- Personally lodged Visa application to the Visa Information and Application (VIA) Centre/PIASI in Makati. *Visa Application Charge (VAC) of Php 5,600.00 (Manager’s Check payable to ‘Australian Embassy’)- check the visa pricing table at the VIA website: www.via.ph. There is also a service fee of Php 700.00 (CASH) per applicant/passport for the submission of visa application at the VIA Centre (inclusive of one-way nationwide delivery of courier once your visa has been finalized by the Australian Embassy). February 26- Received an SMS acknowledging the receipt of my visa application by the Australian Embassy. February 27- Received a new Letter of Offer for April intake at Lonsdale Institute because I could not make it to the March intake. March 3- Australian Immigration case officer sent an email regarding my HAP ID and list of required examinations. He also asked me to either provide him a new approval letter stating that I can start my course late (because the course for March has already commenced) or a Confirmation of Enrolment for the next course intake (April). March 5- Undergone medicals at St. Luke’s-Bonifacio Global City (an extension of the St. Luke’s Ermita Branch; although SLMC-BGC does not appear on the Australian Embassy’s website, nor is it printed on the reminders/guidelines given at the VIA Centre after you lodged your application, it is an accredited clinic panel by the Australian Embassy.) *Be sure to register online and read through the guidelines before undergoing a medical exam (see Medical Examination Information for Australian Visa Applicants | St. Luke's Extension Clinic) Total cost for the Medicals were: Php 7,015.00 (Cash or Credit Card); amount would differ depending the medical tests required by the Australian Embassy). Processing time would be from 7-14 days. March 19- Immigration Case officer acknowledged the receipt of my health clearance. March 20-Immigration case officer asked for my new Confirmation of Enrolment for the April intake. March 24- Sent my Confirmation of Enrolment for the April intake to my case officer via email, which was acknowledged on the same day. My Immigration case officer asked for an additional document via email, which I sent right away. March 25- My Immigration case officer called me up to discuss the possible outcome of my visa application. I had to contact my AHPRA case officer as soon as possible to ask for an advice as my Immigration case officer mentioned they might refuse to grant me a visa. L I did everything I could and prayed really hard. (This was kind of a challenge for me yet again (*Back story: I had a similar situation before (of getting refused) when I was just applying for an Eligibility Letter from AHPRA; posted my case one or two years ago in another forum). Luckily, my AHPRA case officer answered my inquiries and concerns promptly. I emailed my Immigration case officer as soon I was able to contact my AHPRA case officer on the phone. March 26- Sent a lengthy email to my Immigration case officer to follow-up on my visa application and to clear out some things. Got a reply at the end of the day from my Immigration case officer telling me that he has noted everything I told him in my emails and that my visa will be finalized before the course commencement. March 27- Received an email notification from my Immigration case officer regarding my visa grant notice/letter! (Praise the Lord!) J March 28- Visa Grant Notice/Letter was delivered at home via courier. :) I’m flying to Melbourne, Australia this week to undergo the bridging program (Finally!) :) I know that I still have a long way to go and may have faced one too many challenges along the way (and will face some more), but I’m really glad I’m taking steps towards achieving my plans. Again, I thank everyone who have contributed in this forum. I surely got a lot of tips and guidance from this forum. Hope this would help someone, too. It took me a long while to be granted my visa, but I thank God I was granted. I really hope everything will be all right for everyone. I wish we could all find our success soon. :)

Hi! I would just like to ask something regarding the medicals in relation to the visa application for visitor visa subclass 600-business stream. I have been given a Health Examination List (containing my HAP ID) by my case officer, and I intend to have it at St. Lukes Global City (accredited panel clinic). An online registration is available at St. Lukes Global (one of their new services to reduce time spent at registration). However, there are several questions asked in this online registration: In Australia, you will be: (Tick Yes or No Only) -attending/teaching classes: Y/N (Yes. since I am undergoing my bridging program) -working in health care: Y/N (No. since I am only studying for the said program) -working in childcare/creche: Y/N (No. again, my purpose is to study for the bridging program) Hope someone can give an insight on this. You were actually right about an ECU Coordinator. I took the position and worked for 2 1/2 years at Cardinal Santos Medical Center. :) It was such an experience. It taught me how to be efficient and detail-oriented, as I have to give the best possible service to all our 'VIPs.' I can tell you, this wasn't easy. Some clients were such a pain in the butt, but nonetheless, the whole experience was worth it. Sorry, I just read this thread after a loooooong while and I thought of replying back to your post. What is your employment status? Employed/self-employed Retired Student Other Unemployed- explain why you are unemployed and give details of your last employment (if applicable) Should I tick the 'Unemployment " option and narrate my previous work at my previous hospital (employer)? I've been reading through several posts here and the one about "Meeting AHPRA requirements as an International Trained Nurse from the Philippines" (which was really lengthy, but very informative and helpful) and I would just like to ask several questions regarding the Visa Application for Visitor subclass 600- Business Stream. I'm afraid I might be misinterpreting some of the items: 9. Are you a citizen of another country- Y/N (I answered No.) 10. Do you hold an identity card or identify number issued to you by you government (e.g. National Identity Card) (This is a follow-up question to item no. 9, right?) So this would render a NO, given that I am not a citizen of another country? 21. Do you have an Australian business contact? Y/N? (I put here No. But I thought of putting the name of the BP school's Principal Manager, the one I've been contacting, and the BP School's name, or am I correct to just stick with a NO? Part D (Funding of Stay) 23. Give details of how you will maintain yourself financially while you are in Australia. --I narrated that my parents and my will finance me as I undergo my bridging program in Australia, as evidenced by an Affidavit of Support (with certified bank statements, ITRs, Payslips, etc.) 24. Is someone else other than your employer or business, providing support for your visit in Australia?-- I shall have the names of my parents and my aunt here again, right? Lastly, the only fee for the Visitor Visa subclass 600- Business Stream is the base application charge of AUD $130, right? I'm sorry to ask such questions. Hi, last month I posted my case in this forum regarding my the Board's decision on my application, proposing a refusal. I then sent them my letter of appeal sometime this month and my Registration Officer, promptly replied in the email saying: Dear __________, I think you may have misunderstood the Board outcome letter. Please refer to the sections of the letter below. You will be required to complete a Board approved bridging program to gain registration. If you have any questions and want to call to clarify this matter, I would be happy to talk to you. 1. In order to be qualified for registration, an applicant must meet the requirements of section 53© of the National Law, that being to hold a qualification not referred to in section 53(a) or section 53(b) of the National Law relevant to the health profession and have successfully completed an examination or other assessment required by the NMBA for the purpose of general registration in the health profession. - Complete a Board approved bridging program that leads to registration. A current list of approved programs can be found at the NMBA website at:www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Accreditation.aspx. Please note; it is not within AHPRA’s jurisdiction to compel an education provider to provide a course. This letter will be required by the education provider as evidence that you have been assessed as eligible for entrance to an NMBA approved bridging course for registration of internationally qualified nurses/enrolled nurses/ midwives. When the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) receives evidence of your successful completion of a NMBA approved bridging course for internationally qualified nurses / enrolled nurses/midwives, your application for registration will be progressed if you meet all of the registration standards at that time. You can access the NMBA Registration Standards and guidelines via the NMBA website www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au Failure to comply Under section 80(5) of the National Law, your application will be taken to be withdrawn if you do not complete the bridging program within twelve (12) months of the date of this meeting. Hi ceridwyn, First of all, thank you. I really appreciate what you said here; thank you for taking the time to read through my long post. So sorry for that. It's just so hard for me accept the fact that my education is being questioned here. I have studied Nursing in one of the most respected schools in the Philippines (objectively speaking). The credibility of my school is out of the question. Everyone from my university, who who have undergone the same application process has never encountered such a problem. It's so frustrating to accept something that I'm very sure of I have been compliant with. I will try my best to point this out with my Registration Officer. I just do not know what will happen to this. I'm devastated. I do hope they consider my appeal. Again, thank you very much.

Hi, I have a problem with my application to AHPRA. I hope someone could enlighten me with this one. I probably am the only here on this forum who is facing this kind of dilemma. I passed my application (AGOS Form-40) last September 2012 to the AHPRA (VIC), along with the necessary attachments. On October 2, 2012, I was able to receive an email from a Registration Officer (Victoria State Office) requiring me to submit my outstanding documents (Statement of Service and Professional Reference) before the Board could decide on my application. I complied by sending them my Statement of service (Job description and certificate of employment from my employer) and two (2) professional references last December 2012. From then on, I haven't received any updates, like acknowledging the receipt of my documents. So I made a web Inquiry (quoting my reference number) this March 2013, asking my current status and if they were able to receive my outstanding documents. A week after, I received in the email a Notice of proposal to refuse registration pursuant to Section 81 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009. In the email, it states, 'I have received your application for registration as a Registered nurse under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009 (National Law). Pursuant to section 81 of the National Law, a National Board must give an application for registration written notice of any proposal to refuse to register a health practitioner. The Registration Committee of the Victorian Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (Board) conveved on March 6, 2013 and has made a decision to propose to refuse to grant you registration as a Registered Nurse. The Registration Committee has considered your registration application a nurse and proposes to refuse registration on ground that, in the Board's opinion you are not qualified for general registration as a Registered Nurse for the following reasons: In accordance with section 53(b) of the National Law, you do not hold a qualification the National Board considers to be substantially equivalent, or based on similar competencies, to an approved qualification.' The Board has published a Framework for the Assessment of Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives fro Registration to guide the assessment of application and ensures that the application is assessed as meeting current Australian nursing and midwifery education standards. This decision is reflective of this Board approved criteria. Criterion 3 states: - 'For registration as a registered nurse, the minimum qualification of a Bachelor degree, or qualification combined with the experience that is comparable in duration and content to the nationally agreed minimal educational standard for nursing in Australia.' The Board has also approved the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council published Standards and Criteria for the Accreditation of Nursing and Midwifery Courses Leading to Registration, Enrolment, Endorsement, and Authorisation in Australia- with Evidence Guide for Registered Nurses(ANMC Standard). Standard 5 relates to the course content and refers to a range of topics that must be addressed by accredited courses. We enclose, for your information,a copy of the Framework for the Assessment of Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives for Registration and ANMC Standards (PDF files). There are now two different courses of action available to you: 1. At this stage you may wish to consider withdrawing you application for registration and advice AHPRA in writing of your intention to withdraw your application. You may seek recognition of prior learning with a NMBA approved education provider of a Bachelor of Nursing course that leads to a qualification eligible for registration as a registered nurse. Information relating to approved NMBA education providers is available on the NMBA website. OR 2. If you do not wish to withdraw your application for registration,under the section 81 (2)(b) f the National Law, the Board must provide you with an opportunity to make a written or verbal submission to the registration committee about its proposal to refuse your application. You may make a written or verbal submission to the Board by 14 April 2013 about the proposal. The Board will make its decision in relation to your application for registration following receipt of any submission about the proposal to refuse your registration, or advise that you do not seek to make a submission or otherwise after 14 April 2013. If the Board do not receive a submission within the given timeframe your application will have taken to be refused under s 82(1) ©. If you have any queries please contact ______ (Registration Officer) on __________ or ____________ (email).' I just could not believe the grounds on which they are refusing my application as I have been compliant with all of their requirements. Do they mean that the 4 years I have spent in Nursing here in the Philippines is not enough, when in fact I have a diploma and all other pertinent documents to prove so. I have friends that has done the same process and that their education was not even questioned. For reference, I have sent them the following documents completely and properly notarized based on their requirements: Birth Certificate (NSO) Passport (photo page) Curriculum vitae (Standard format) School Diploma (UST) Transcript of Record (TOR) RLE Record Academic Record Nursing Course Description Board Certificate Certificate of Good Standing (sent from PRC) Board Passing and Board Rating IELTS result (sent by IDP directly to AHPRA) NBI clearance (for travel to Australia) AGOS Form-40 Other supplementary documents (PRC ID, BLS Certificates/ID, etc. to support the ones written on my curriculum vitae) I just do not know whether they have assessing my application properly. I just do not know what to do. I cannot really accept their reason for refusing me. I still have to clarify things with my Registration Officer, though. I hope something good comes out of this.

hi everyone, I believe i lost track of the changes with regards to the application in aphra. I actually started fixing my application back in 2011. Unfortunately, I got derailed due to work and other stuff. The last time i checked, i was filling up the agos-04 from. Now, it's the agos-40? *i feel so clueless. I don't actually know where to start.

Sure thing. :) Maybe i'll know what it really is once i take the job. ahaha. :)) Well, the HR officer told me I would be handling 'healthy/recovering clients' who'd like to see how they're health is, or to evaluate the effectiveness a treatment plan (lifestyle modification, diet plan, etc.). Well, I just hope it's something i'll enjoy doing just as much as i enjoy being a ward nurse.

Does anyone have an idea what an ECU Coordinator is? Is it even a part of the nursing field? I'm just curious. I'm an RN (a beginner in the field) and I've been offered this position at a hospital I applied to. They only gave a rough description about it, but I'm not too sure whether taking this position would count as a nursing experience. Thank you!

If your pass their application process (initial interview, initial exam, technical exam, and final interview) you'd be given the chance to become a Nurse trainee (3 months) with allowance. If after that period they see how you've performed, you'd be given the chance to be a probationary nurse (6 months) and so on. That's what they said.

Hi everyone! I signed up months ago (can't remember when exactly) for the staff nurse position. I wasn't really expecting them to contact me anytime soon as i've seen a lot of applicants sign up at the log sheet. However, just recently, they texted and offered the position for a Respiratory Therapist, since there weren't any vacancies for the staff nurse position. Today, we had our psych exam and are now waiting for a call from them whether we'd be considered for the initial interview, i think. Most of us, if not all, were registered nurse, though.
