Level I: Basic Newborn Care: Level 1 nurseries care for healthy, full-term babies. They are able to stabilize babies born near term to get them ready to transfer to facilities that offer special care. Level II: Specialty Newborn Care: Special care nurseries care for babies born at greater than 32 weeks gestation or who are recovering from more serious conditions. Level IIA: These nurseries do not provide assisted ventilation. Level IIB: These nurseries can provide assisted ventilation for less than 24 hours, and can also provide continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Level III: Subspecialty Newborn Care: Level III NICUs care for the sickest babies and offer the greatest variety of support. Level IIIA: These nurseries care for babies born greater than 28 weeks. They offer mechanical ventilation and minor surgical procedures such as central line placement. Level IIIB: Level IIIB NICUs can offer different types of mechanical ventilation, have access to a wide range of pediatric specialists, can use imaging capabilities beyond x-ray, and may provide some surgeries requiring anesthesia. Level IIIC: The most acute care is provided in level IIIC NICUs, sometimes called level IV NICUs. These nurseries can provide advanced ventilation, including ECMO, and can provide advanced surgeries including “open-heart” surgeries to correct congenital heart defects. Hope this helps! Well, to get back to your original question, I think that there are a lot of nurses happy with their jobs in Phoenix and patients who are happy with their hospital experience. I know people who work at almost every hospital in the valley. Personally, I have been to a lot of them and have had both good and bad experiences.

How do we get to the online clinical training? The readings are listed on Angel. I was a little confused. Are we supposed to read all those chapters before class, or do we just need to have them read this week?

Yes, I'm wearing my scrubs tomorrow. The email that ------- sent said that we have to wear our scrubs for all classes/labs at St Joe's. Since we "officially" have class starting at 12:30pm, we need to wear our scrubs.

It is possible (with overtime)!!! It really depends on where you live and what you are getting paid. For example, if you are making $28/hour and work 12hr shifts, you would have to work 5 shifts each week in order to make $100K per year. You would have 20 hrs/wk overtime. Of course it would be much easier with an advanced practice degree. Also, the more money you make per hour, the easier it would be to get to that $100K mark. It's doable, but you may get burnt out quick. Good luck to you!!!

The only thing that I saw was the readings too! I'm actually finishing up COM 270 at MCC, so I have been busy preparing my presentation. I'll probably start on the readings this weekend.

I'm pretty sure that hospitals will hire graduates of ASU. Why wouldn't they? ASU has a great reputation in the community. Also, the applicant will have a Bachelors degree - which is usually the preference anyway! Just my

You definitely need to talk to an advisor. To be competitive, you usually have to have a high GPA for entrance.

I think it really depends on personal preference. I've heard good things about both schools. ASU is more competitive to get into (they receive more applications). GCU is also a longer program. It's 5 semesters instead of 4. You would end up with a Bachelors degree with both schools. I don't know much about the traditional program, but another poster mentioned that if you attend ASU at the Mayo Campus then you have a "leg-up" if you apply for a new grad position there. The traditional program does give you a break though. You get the summer off - which is a plus! I chose GCU because I of a personal referral. I don't know anyone personally who went through the program at ASU.
