They seem to hire new grads throughout the year as I have fellow RNs in my new grad program who have started at different times of the year. Valley Hospital hired a bunch of new grads this summer whereas other hospitals within the system hired a select few. The new grad program is year round, with new RNs coming in each month

du_girl, I didn't go to nursing school in NV. Definitely secure a job before moving though. vegasmomma, new grads get hired from applying to RN I positions which have no minimum requirements for experience or to new grad programs that are usually only offerred in April.

They hired new grads in all hospitals within the VHS. Valley Hospital hired the most new grads compared to the others.

I applied when I didn't have Nevada license and when I did. When I didn't have license, they responded that I did not meet the minimum requirements. When I did have my license, my app was in review. I think it's best to obtain licensure first. Best wishes!

RN LAS VEGAS, try applying within the Valley Health Systems. I graduated in December 2010 from Nebraska, moved to Vegas after graduation, applied for jobs in April within VHS, and got hired within the same month. I started the new grad program in May and there were 30 other new grads in my class. They seem to still be hiring more new grads so please don't stop trying. I graduated December 2010 and began applying after taking NCLEX in April (took a long break after going through an 11-month accelerated BSN program). I was offerred two interviews at different hospitals the same day I applied. I chose a hospital and I began the new grad program 4 weeks ago and there were about 30 other new grads in the program. Some of the new grads said this is their first RN job since graduating in 2009 so I'm assuming Vegas is a tough market even if they say there's a nursing shortage. There are many RN positions posted but most require at least 1 year of experience. I feel lucky that I didn't have to wait over a year to get a job here. Try applying first before moving... there are hospitals that help with relocating. Good luck!

Interview went well and I got a job offer!

Hey! I graduated w/ my BSN in December 2010 and only took the NCLEX this April and passed. Got my license about 2 weeks ago and began searching for jobs. I kept getting "No longer being considered" within the Valley Health System. I know people wait MONTHS looking for a job here but I feel lucky now. Last week, I got a call from Valley Hospital for a pre-screening and just got a call back yesterday for an interview today (in a couple hours). Before getting a call from Valley, I also applied to a position at Desert Springs yesterday and got a call that same day and have an interview scheduled for tomorrow! I'm so nervous because it's all so soon! I'm just curious about the questions they'll ask for each hospital. Can anyone give any insight? Also, what are your thoughts about the hospitals or what have you heard about them? Not sure which to choose if I get hired at both :/ Starting hourly pay? Thanks :)
