  1. I personally would not work for WFUBMC, especially if it involves a contract!! I have several nursing friends currently employed there (under 2 or more contract year commitments) & they are not happy . This particular contract had a lot of "fine print" & lots of money that must be paid back if the contract is not fulfilled!!! Make sure you read EVERYTHING before you sign it, if you decide to go with WFUBMC.
  2. It's not great, but don't count on getting hired at novant or CMC unless you currently work there (CNA or other non RN healthcare provider) or know someone who works there & can help you get hired!! They didn't hire any new grads from my dec. 2010 BSN class unless they already worked there or had a "hookup". Start applying to other hospitals! CMC starts around $19.75ish Good Luck!!!
  3. Hello all, I have recently found myself in a similar situation.....Job offer from a BIG university Operating Room or a smaller Operating room hospital, I too am a new grad & not really sure where to begin my career as an OR RN. One major concern I have is: the Bigger hospital I would be on a set team, like neuro, CT, plastics, etc & at the smaller hospital I wouldn't necessarily be on a team & would get to do a variety of surgeries.
  4. LMWDUKERN, WOW that really surprises me!! I am sorry, keep applying!!! Don't give up!!! I decided to go with Duke-Raleigh so I can get exposure to all types of surgeries not just one set specialty like at Duke University. I also like the smaller hospital & the staff at Raleigh, plus I didn't want to pay to park!
  5. thank you canesdukegirl!
  6. I was told that I was a top applicant but I will know more in a couple of weeks.
  7. Hi I am a new RN/BSN (graduated in december 2010) & have interviewed for several OR positions however I have it narrowed down to 2 hospitals; Duke University (Big Duke) or Duke-Raleigh (Little Duke). Both positions would be in the operating room however I am so conflicted on which one to take!! Please HELP me with pros & cons; working environments, contract issues ("big duke requires a 2 year contract & little duke does not), better hospital, etc. I have a tough decision to make & would LOVE input from any RN's that have worked or are currently working at Duke University hospital & Duke Raleigh hospital. Thank you :)
  8. TMartin, Are you attending the "New to the OR open house" at Duke University in May 2011?
