  1. I took boards-CRNA today and I finished at 100. I felt okay after the exam. Has anyone ever heard of anyone actually failing at 100? Is there a way to check exam results before waiting for the fedex guy?
  2. Does anyone know where one might find PDA software to track your cases/AANA requirements? I have heard this is available but don't know where to start.
  3. Who will be in Class of 2006? I am in my first year at UB. Let me know if you have any questions (e.g. apartments, etc.)
  4. U at Buffalo interview and accepted will start Fall 05 U of Minnesota VA School of Anesthesia accepted and declined offer Oakland University accepted and declined offer Norman Wolford interview offered and declined offer Kaiser Permanente interview offered and declined offer U of Maryland interview and declined offer Newman University declined offer U of Cincinnati no interview offered d/t GRE score. (Poor application process at UC, no one communicates status of application, only one person reviews materials and he is always on vacation. I had to email program director to find out my status.
  5. When the Army was trying to recruit me they told me you get 1LT regardless of experience as long as you have a letter stating you have been accepted to a CRNA program. I am currently in the Air Force Reserves and expect to be promoted to Captain after school. You should at least be a 1LT w/ your civilian experience.
  6. Do the Air Force Reserves! I am currently signed up for the CRNA stipend program and will get $1250/month for the duration of the program and a $50,000 student loan repayment if I desire at the end of the program. You serve 4 years in the the reserves after graduation and 2 years longer if you take the loan repayment. I served 4 years active duty as an enlisted member and another 6 years in the Air National Guard. It has been awesome! Just remember they want you as CRNA not a RN. You never know with the Army. The Air Force is currently overstaffed in the registered nurse career field and is looking to downsize. The Reserves are only staffed at 84% in the CRNA career field hence the bonuses. You are placed in a Category J status meaning the the possibility of deployment is slim if not none you are classified the same as a medical student. If you have any more questions let me know.
  7. All clinical related to your specialty very basic questions. Very laid back atmosphere.
  8. Did you need a co-signer? Is there any other companies that don't require co-signers?
  9. Anybody have advice on which company to go through for private student loans?
  10. I know that already! I was asking for physiological mechanisms not definitions. You need sympathetic stimulation which increases heart rate, contractility, stroke volume and cardiac output. End result higher blood pressure. The question I was eluding to was how using a temp pacer achieves this without the body natural response.
  11. I work at a CVICU and we temp pace a lot of our patient after surgery for cardiac output. However, we have been using lately to increase blood pressure. Does anyone now the physiological mechanisms involved? If the body naturally increased heart rate its due to SNS fight or flight and there is a catecholamine response involved, but if it artificially done?
  12. Who is going to U at Buffalo next Fall 2005?
  13. U of Cincinnati guys need to post in your own section this is the UB section. QUOTE=royalkeister]Yo, J. I still haven't heard a whisper from UB. But who cares, I'm in at Cinci! I lost your number again. email it to me so I can call you. sorry.
  14. I got in to University at Buffalo. Who else?
  15. Has anyone heard back from U of Minnesota-VA program yet? They were suppose to the class memebers today or tomorrow via email.
  16. Anybody attending an interview at Oakland University in the near future? Any information about the interview process?
  17. I got a phone call last week inviting me to Oakland University. Any info?
  18. Anybody hear from U of Cincinnati yet?
  19. Any one get interview letters yet? I got two letters from U of Minnesota-VA and U of Buffalo.
  20. I am also waiting to hear from the University of Minnesota (VA). When did you get notified you were invited for an interview last year? What type of questions did they ask?
  21. How much of an impact if any does the GRE have in getting accepted to CRNA school? According to a few program directors I spoke with they indicated they only care that you have taken the exam. However, I have never seen a poor score on these boards. I just took the exam today and did exceptionally poor total-790. Has anyone done as poorly on the GRE and gotten in? I have a cum GPA 3.6 and been on the Dean's List several times. I work in a Cardiac ICU and Emergency Department at a Level 1 trauma facility.
