  1. i agree with laura...any brand, all white sneaker
  2. you're welcome if you're talking about breaks during the day...we had one or two 15 minute breaks during a lecture; lunch was 1000/1030 to 1115. if you're talking about breaks, such as spring break...we followed the FSU calendar. we had lecture/lab 5 days/wk.
  3. busy. class schedule varies...0800-1430 most days and 0800-1630 on a lab day. we had a ~1 hr break for lunch. there's always stuff to do outside of class...studying for tests, meetings, computer lab work, drug math, prepping for lab, group projects, etc. outside class work is 4+ hrs/day. clinicals started later in the year and are 0600-1430 a couple days/wk.
  4. jamesr24, contact gabriela at FSU CON. she is the secretary, unless she recently moved to another position. ask her for for approximate cost of the proram. at one time they had a nursing program cost breakdown in a word doc. maybe they still do. even if it's for the traditional program, you can correlate to ABSN.
  5. best wishes, y'all. i have an FSU ABSN. get to know gabriela...she rocks.
  6. i took patho online at UWF. instructor was an MD. i did well in the class and learned a lot, but it took a ton of time. tests were weekly, testing time was short, and questions tricky. weekly homework was very laborious.
  7. in ABSN, instructors will dump a ton of info on you in a short amount of time. constantly interrogate the instructors until they narrow the field of study material for the test.
  8. no one fainted in my class. never seen anyone faint starting an IV. you may faint, but you'll be fine...eventually.
  9. DLuxe, yes, your info on the internship helps. Thanks! More questions...where do the out-of-town ABSN students reside? On-campus? Off-campus? Any recommendations for housing? Average rent in Tally? Thanks again!
  10. DLuxe, thanks for the clarification and info! I have more questions for you. Will FSU CON allow ABSN students to complete the internship/practicum portion with a preceptor outside of Tally? Are ABSN students completing the internship and attending lecture(s) during the same time period? Any of the classroom stuff have an online (distance ed) component? Basically...can ABSN students with permanent address outside Tally, return home to live with family, finish remaining classes online and complete the internship in a healthcare facility that may offer future employment opportunities? Thanks!
  11. Best wishes in your application process for 2012!
  12. missbeth, congrats! Elaborate...please! What kind of interview questions, etc?
  13. I received my acceptance letter to FSU ABSN Spring 2012! More questions about what to expect... So, would you say that in-class (lecture/lab/clinical) plus out-of-class time equals approximately 75-85 hrs/wk? Is there a break (no lecture/lab/clinical) between the semesters, spring/summer and summer/fall? Thanks!
  14. I applied for the spring 2012 class. USA Nursing has not contacted me either (phone, mail, e-mail). I called today...application packets are submitted, but not reviewed at this time. "Congratulations" or "Unfortunately" letters to be sent at the end of this month/first of November. To get the letters out by this time frame, phone interviews will need to start soon.
  15. DLuxe, on average how many hours per week are you (and other students) committing to the FSU ABSN program? Thanks!
