Southern Union Community College
Do they offer labs in the mornings at all? Are any clinicals offered on the weekends? I work fulltime, so I'm trying to figure out my schedule.

Has anyone ever taking Bio 202 and mircobiology together?
I just finished up my A&P2 and micro classes (also took a third class, and I work full time). I made A's in everything, so it's definitely possible. It just takes a lot of studing!

Surviving nursing school... out on your own
Yes, I have no other option. I'll have to change positions at my job so that I can accomodate the hours (right now I take evening classes but in nursing that is not possible). But it'll be worth it when I finish.

Surviving nursing school... out on your own
I'm not in nursing school yet (hopefully will start in January), but I work fulltime and go to school fulltime. My boyfriend does the same. We live together but really only see each other on weekends due to our schedules (and only then if he doesn't have clinicals for his program). We split rent and utilities as well, and we each pay our own bills, tuition, car payments, student loans (from my previous college years), etc. It works for us because it's temporary. There is an end in sight. He'll be done with his program in January and go back to core classes to continue his education. I'll start nursing in January and be done with that in two years. Then things should get easier. It's a struggle, but it's not impossible.

How many times did you have to take A & P to get your "A" grade?
I type my notes and scan any diagrams directly into my notes. Then I print them and make notecards and take them everywhere. I had a 103 final grade in anat 1 last semester. So far I have a 103 average in anat 2 this semester (and I'm also taking microbiology and management at the same time). I also work fulltime, and I study my notecards anytime I have a few minutes free at work.

should I let my boyfriend support me financiallythrough nursing school
I would say it depends on how long you've been together and how able he is to afford everything. I would at least try to work a few hours a week to help out if I was in that situation. Another option would be to split bills. I've lived with my boyfriend a couple of years, and we split rent/utilities in half and each pay for our own food (we only get to have meals together on weekends due to our schedules). We each work fulltime; he's in paramedic school, and I'm finishing up prereqs for nursing. It works for us, but it's tough. I can't imagine being completely dependent on someone without the legal binding of marriage, however. If something goes wrong, would you be able to stay in school?

Low GPA applicants for ABSN winter/spring 2012
Maybe look for a school that bases admissions on a point system? I have a very low undergrad gpa from a few years ago (much lower than yours), but the school I'm applying requires a certain gpa on the past 24 credit hours. They then take your grades in prereqs (I have a 4.0 in those) and give you points based on those and the teas v test. I did not apply for fall due to lack of money, but I would have been admitted because the cutoff for points was a good bit lower than the number of points I have already. I will be applying for spring. Good luck in your journey =)

Question About Microbiology Notes
I am taking micro this summer, along with a/p 2 and management. I would definitely appreciate the notes so I can get a head start on studying =)
-
How did everyone do in your Spring classes?
This was my first semester in two years (took a break bc I had lost focus and grades dropped drastically). I was estatic with my 103 in A/P I! I also made A's in my other classes and had a 4.0 for the first semester in my entire college career thusfar. I thought it was pretty good since I also work fulltime =)

Should I retake the Teas?
Thanks =) I'm so nervous about applying. This is my second "try" at college (wasn't focused when I entered out of high school), and I just want to make sure my chances of getting in are high because I have my mind and heart set on this now.

Summer school anyone?
I'll be taking Microbiology, Anatomy/Phys 2, and Management. I won't have much time outside of that and work!

Should I retake the Teas?
Hi, I took the Teas today and scored 87.3% overall. I was really hoping to break 90%, but the science section completely threw me. My school bases admission on a point system, where the teas is 150 out of 250 possible points. The rest of the points are made up from grades in Anatomy 1 and 2 and Microbiology. I currently have 170 points and can add up to a possible 60 points from grades this summer. I apply in September for next spring. I really hope to get in on the first try and have always heard it's very competitive, but I am tight on money. Should I retake or accept this score? My printout said the national average is 63% and program average is 64%.

ASN at community college, then BSN?
I'm in the exact same boat as you are. I graduated first in my high school class with an ACT of 31 and tons of scholarships. I attended a local 4 year university on scholarship, in the honors program, for a 3 years until my grades started dropping. I was having trouble at home and then finally moved out and tried to work 3 part time jobs while being in school fulltime. Eventually I was suspended for a term due to my 1.8 gpa and decided to take some time off to sort things out. After being out for two years, I am now taking pre-nursing prereqs at a community college, have a 4.0 gpa there while working one fulltime job, and am applying for ASN in September. They only look at grades in anatomy 1 and 2 and micro, and calculate points based on those and the teas test score. If I am accepted, I plan to start a mostly online ASN to BSN degree as soon as I finish. Good luck to you and just know you're not alone in this situation
