  1. royr, What a gut wrenching story. I feel your pain.
  2. I know this post is old, but I just wanted to share my story. I was in Marketing/Advertising for years. Went back to school in my late 30's for my RN degree. I did floor nursing for a very short time and I am now a Nurse Liaison. Like BJZMom, I have never been happier. It's such a great feeling to be able to really use all of your education and life experience.
  3. I live in Richmond, VA and I work for an inpatient rehab hospital. The name is Sheltering Arms. When you get here, you should check us out. We do have a Health South in town as well on Libbie Ave. Good luck with your move!
  4. I've got a quick question. Does anyone know specifically which 13 diagnoses medicare will count towards the 75%? Can't seem to find them. Thanks! Sue
  5. Dear Bluepenguin, You are so sweet to take the time to write about your experience. I think it's great that you got that job. You were very encouraging and I need to follow my heart. I really apprieciate your advice. I am now going to change my name.!!! LOL Formally known as "RN TOOBEE"
  6. Hello all, I need a little advice. I am almost 40 years old and I have just graduated from nursing school. I passed board recently and I have been working as an RN for a month at an acute rehab hospital. I just don't like it. I don't like the environment or the pace. I have always been interested in school nursing. Would any school nurses out there recommend doing this right out of school? Is it something you can pick up or does it really take years of paying your dues before you can be any good? I would value any feedback!!! Thanks so much! Sue
  7. Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me with my goofy problem. I bucked up and went to work today (Wed). I marched into my Manager's office, confessed I had boards on Sat. and asked for the rest of the week off. She said "No problem, I wouldn't want to be working 2 days before my boards either!!" Granted, I have to make up the days next week, but if I pass boards, who cares! I guess it's true that you have to ask for what you want in this world. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted! I'll let you all know how I did. Pray for my success! Thanks again. Sue
  8. I took the Kaplan course and they really stressed the fact that you never have to get a Doctor's order. They want you to assume you already have it. Gosh..I hope that's right. I am planning to answer all questions based on that philosophy.
  9. I hear what you are saying. I guess I was thinking more for mental/stress prep. Good point though. If I feel like I've learned all I can, what will 3 days matter?
  10. I would love some quick advice. I have known for several weeks that my NCLEX is this Saturday at 8am. I have kept my date private from my employer and most friends and family, only because I don't want a lot of "so...how did you do?" I just want to enjoy some quite time to reflect after the test. Okay with that said, I started my first nursing job 3 weeks ago. I am still on orientation and I am scheduled to work Wed, Thursday and Friday...what was I thinking?! My gut tells me that I should fess up with work and tell them that my boards are Sat. and I need to take the time to pull it together. The other side of me feels obligated to go and it may even keep my mind off of things. What would you all do? Do you think I'm nuts to work or am I over reacting? Thank you so much for your insight.
