  1. Congrats, you guys... I am a 4th semester student and I was looking over your messages thinking... Wow... it all went by so quickly. Take it day by day... don't worry over the future too much. Work on what you have on your plate right now. Work off a calendar and WRITE EVERYTHING down in it so you NEVER MISS a date nor will it creep up on you. All of you will do great and be proud to be a Collin Nursing Student. BTW... someone asked about INSURANCE? Look into NSNA.org. If you are a CNSA member, you can purchase student INS pretty inexpensively through them. Have fun and try NOT to stress too much. Your professors are there to help.
  2. seems like sooooo long ago...
  3. Thank you! Nice to know that others understand. Here're we go...
  4. See you tomorrow night! (scholarship award ceremony)
  5. Thank you. I feel like such a horrible mother putting school first but I keep reminding myself, he's young and won't remember this time, and I AM doing all this sacrificing for my family. I'd BETTER do well! just had my first nursing school nightmare last night! Ugh!
  6. my mother will be taking my 3 year old child over 400 mi away so that i can attend school. i simply cannot afford daycare nor do i have family in the area. i would probably be able to afford something with the financial aid i will be receiving but i will not be getting that refund until the end of september. by that time, i am told spots are hard to find. and still there are the costs… daycare centers simply cost too much and any registered sitters i have found charge anywhere from $10 and up and for an 8 hour day, several days a week… ugh… (someone wanted $25 an hour!)… beginning to think i am in the wrong profession! so, i have no other alternative but to give up my youngest for school. i am heartbroken.
  7. I wish there was a daycare type setting at our facility. I know Spring Creek has one but I really wish there was one near CPC for those who cannot choose our class times! This is really stressing me out!
  8. Congrats! See you at the Ceremony in August! Woo Hoo! Every bit helps...
  9. My understanding is, we will not hear until the beginning of July. Good Luck!
  10. Okay, to follow up on the "homework" our Director gave us during orientation... Eructation = BURP! or gas expelled from the stomach released through the mouth... Diaphoresis = SWEAT! or profuse sweating... agreed?
  11. Thank you, Natalie! I can't wait to see you guys and my ol'lab partner Emily, too! It's great that you guys will be there to answer all of our questions. I think its wonderful that there is support within the program both (as Em would say...)"laterally and vertically"! See ya then. =D
  12. CONGRATS!!!! Glad they were able to correct your mistake and you made it in! Hope to meet you on the 29th!!
  13. i have only been living off of student loans since i took out my 401k to go back to school... so the 12 hour min. (i think) was to keep my loans. however, i think my efc was lowered for the fall and i qualify for pell grant! thank god in heaven above! i was also just awarded a white paper scholarship (for the fall) this week and i did apply for a foundation scholarship (just incase). finally, things are falling into place... (knock on wood)! i hope to interact with everyone on april 29th!
  14. Thx ma'am. Just trying to weigh out the options since it is strongly recommended not to work during the program and my husband's insurance for spousal coverage is ultra-expensive. I will also have to try to find a way to keep my hours above 12 per semester inorder to qualify for financial aid. It's crazy how hard it is to try to juggle everything. Anyone know a cheap but good caregiver? (j/k... I know there's NO such thing!) Just anyother worry to add to the list. ugh. But I shall prevail...
  15. I know who YOU are, too! See ya on Monday! :):)
  16. I have been working part time at a hospital on Sat and Sun 12 hour shifts each day with full time classes M-F and two small children (3 if you count my hubby) at home. I have no other choice. The good thing about my work is that I am allowed to study while I sit at my desk. I am truly blessed with the type of work that I do but I sacrifice plenty for that paycheck / insurance. If I do decide to quit for the Fall, does any one know how much the Student Ins. costs? Cause to be put on my Hubby's is a doooooozy.
  17. I don't think they will EVER divulge how they decide or why anyone actually makes it or not only because they would have too many angry people at their door! It's just too crazy from everyone's perspective!
  18. Good to know ckey01, Thanks! I have been following this thread for a while now but have been reluctant to register only because I didn't think I would make it. I was waitlisted last semester and didn't think I would make it in this semester either... I got my letter this week and ... YaY! I will be seeing you guys (Dagsmom, lil nic 32, and KLG20004) on the 29th! I almost gave up. I was already setting up classes at TWU and planning on driving to Denton ( I live in McKinney)... I was planning on taking the TEAS and the HESI2 just to see where else I could go! I EVEN spoke to the Surgical Tech dept @ Collin just to see if it would help me in the long run to be an O.R. Nurse! (Bide my time). Do Not Give Up! We waitlisters have worked too hard to just give up! Do what you need to get in there! And when you do, I will be waiting to tell you ... I told you so! Good Luck to all and I hope to see all of you soon!
