  1. I would definitely include your serving experience, since this shows your work ethic and that you've been able to hold a job for a long period of time. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you, I'm 24, graduated with my ADN in May and am still looking for jobs. And like you, I do not have any healthcare experience, only hospitality experience which I guess is good for the customer service side of things.
  2. I am a new grad, graduated in May 2013, passed my NCLEX after the second time in August 2013. I have been applying to jobs all over, and have only been asked for one interview. I did not get that job. I have applied to another local hospital, and my status online says "you are actively being considered. You will be contacted if you are chosen for an interview". I thought this was great news, but since it has said that for 2 months now, I'm starting to lose hope. I have even called HR several times for a follow up but I've been told they are still doing interviews.... well I find that hard to believe anymore because the job posting is no longer online. I have a friend who works at this hospital and has spoke to the hiring manager on the unit I applied to. The manager gave my friend her direct office number and told my friend to have me call her directly, as she has a night shift she is trying to fill. This was 2 weeks ago. I have called her 4 times, and have left 2 separate messages about a week apart stating that my friend had spoken with her, I was very interested in the night shift opening, and to call me back to talk about it. I have received nothing in return. I realize she is probably a busy woman but this is becoming so discouraging. My question is... what should I do now? Should I somehow get her email and try emailing her? I don't want to come off as being so desperate and I definitely do not want to annoy anyone. I just don't understand why she would give her number for me to call and not call me back. Any advice would be great! Thank you.
  3. Ours are ALL white, scrubs and lab coat, with our school logo embroidered on one sleeve to be worn to clinicals. Shoes are all white, completely leather. We have light blue and white polos to wear to lab days. I'll be keeping my Tide Pen handy :)
  4. ASN = Associates of Science in Nursing ADN = Associates Degree in Nursing They're the same thing, just different terms used interchangeably.
  5. Just as kbagby said, there are Accelerated Bachelor programs for people who have Bachelor degrees in other fields. That may be your best bet, depending what classes you already have, you may have to take some other prereqs, but that may be your best shot. You'll finish with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and become an RN.
  6. I received mine on the 14th :)
  7. I GOT IN!!!! Collier campus!! :) I had to call to find out. Very excited! Good luck to all of you!
  8. Ah congrats! Did they call you or did you have to call?
  9. Congrats to everyone who received calls already!! rprado, I don't think they made calls for Collier yet either... I'm just as nervous as you are!! But really don't give up hope: you have 90 points!
  10. Applied for Collier... was going to put Lee but after thinking about it, I really wouldn't want to wake up at 4 in the morning to get to clinicals for 2 years (I live in East Naples so it's quite a far drive for me). rprado - I wouldn't worry about it! I went to orientation and forgot to sign in, and went to her office after the fact and told her I forgot to sign in and she let me sign the sheet and said "we won't hold it against you"... so if you didn't specify a date, I wouldn't worry. I'm sure they're more concerned with your grades/test scores!:)
  11. Ok now that is just even more frustrating, lol. Oh well, fingers are still crossed!
  12. All of this is making me sooo anxious to hear back from the program. I really hope I get in. But I do have one question for anybody who can answer (I can't believe I didn't ask during the orientation or even when I turned my application in). But my HESI score was an 89.88 ... do they round up at all?? Because that's a difference of 85 or 90 points for my application. Nerve-racking!!
  13. Thank you! Collier first and then Lee.
  14. Can someone tell me what my overall score would be since they changed the point system? I haven't been to an orientation this year yet... 8 classes completed. 3.62 GPA, 89 on my hesi. Please and thank you!! :)
  15. I'll be applying to both Collier and Lee, Collier being my first choice. I took the HESI test nearly a year ago and can't remember if the test had a built-in calculator or not? Anybody remember?
