Disillusioned and Bullied
Lawyer up!! and talk to the DONs boss. wright down everything. I went to my manager about someone diverting a medication. I think all they did was tell the person that I told on them. So now a few people don't like me much. You are not alone there are D bags all over. Don't put up with the BS I would ask why your charts are being audited and what this has to do with anything. Go up the chain everyone has a boss.

New Grad RN CAN'T FIND WORK!! What should I do?
I live in Denver. It is almost impossible to find a job here as a new grad. I think if you go to school here you have better chances. I didn't get a job in a hospital but it is so hard to find a job that I am just happy to have one.

New RN's...do you have a job ?
yeah me too. After 200 apps though it is hard to stay positive. I am giving it till around next summer. If nothing has happened then I am finding a good job doing something else. Or I will go in the Navy as a nurse(wich I really don't want to do. The interview stuff is a good idea. The only problem is that its so hard to get an interview. I am in Denver. There are something like 10 nursing schools here. Your resume never gets to the hiring manager sometimes. The nurse recruiters only send the ones they want to. I had an ER manager that said she might hire me. A friend told her about me. I applied. My resume never made it to her because the nurse recruiter didn't think they should hire anymore new grads. I tried to get it to her directly but then she never called me back. Maybe you will have a different experience. Good luck.

New RN's...do you have a job ?
I might get a job in a place I don't want to live...just b/c of who I know nothing else. Its terrible right now. If I was thinking about going to school for nursing right now I wouldn't go now.

New RN's...do you have a job ?
I don't think applying for 200+ jobs is expecting a handout. I have applied at LTC, prisons, hospitals, multiple other states, Dr offices ect... I don't expect a handout but at least one interview before I am rejected by e mail (or never even contacted) would be nice.

New RN's...do you have a job ?
180+ apps and counting. I might have one interview coming up. 1st one. There is no nursing shortage. Don't believe the hype. If there was one hospitals would hire new grads.

TEAS V Advice
First think about how hard it is to get a job. 180+ apps and counting with no interview. Well I might have one interview b/c I know someone. Don't believe the hyped up stories about the nursing shortage. Nobody is hiring new grads. If you want to be a nurse anyway make sure you get a job in a hospital while you are in school or at least volunteer. It might help you get a job.

New Grad RN CAN'T FIND WORK!! What should I do?
Redhead - I can't speak for everyone else but.... Yes of course I have a license in the state I am applying. The other states I have applied to are compact states. I have a compact license. I have completely filled out all of my applications. The problem is that most hospitals will not hire new grads. One ER director in Texas told a friend she might hire me. I applied. She has been waiting on my application. I found out yesterday that it never got to her because of the nurse recruiter. The nurse recruiter decided that they didn't need another new grad even though the ER director was interested. I am sure this happens routinely. Many new grads apps never even get to someone that will hire them.

1 year--No job--what to do?
maybe a masters in healthcare admin..but getting a job might still be hard. You could join the Navy or Air force. You might get shipped out to A stan or Iraq but that would be great experience. Or you could just work in a Navy hospital like the one in San Diego. Might not be bad officers have it pretty good. You would also get experience. When you got out you could get a job with that experience. Or you could retire in 20.

Retired nurses displacing new grads?
The choice is obvious? Well what about all the new grads with no job? What is going to happen when tons of new nurses just go and do something else. What is going to happen when the word gets out that you can't get a job as a new grad nurse. My wife just saw an article about how the ANA sent a letter to hospitals warning them of this. This is very short sighted. School enrollment at my school has already dropped. I have started looking for non nursing jobs. This practice is just going to cause huge problems in the future. Then you will really need us no experienced nurses. Hope there are enough.

New Grad RN new to Denver.. Any help with finding a job?
I have started to look out of state. It is crazy here. I got some advice on here to go to the hospital in person.. It didn't do me much good. There was not even a nurse recruiter there. I talked to two very nice people. One told me that you really need to know someone to get a job. I was also told by HR just to apply online. 100+ applications and I have not even gotten 1 interview. If you are thinking about moving here or going to nursing school here don't do it. From what I hear though it is tough in a lot of places. I have a chance at a good job in another state. I actually talked to a recruiter on the phone. They were very nice and helpful. The recruiters here don't usually list there phone numbers and they never respond to there e mails. Denver is nice but its not worth all this. Eventually it will bite them in the you know what.. word of mouth will spread.admissions to nursing school will drop...the economy will get better and then they will be hurting for nurses...I just can't wait around for that

No new grad jobs in Denver
I think I am beating a dead horse but.... How do you get a new grad job here in Denver? I just moved here after finishing my nursing degree. I passed my NCLEX first try. Now the hard part - finding a job in Denver. My wife got a great job here so leaving really is not an option. At least for her. I have considered moving back home to get a job just to get experience. Of course if I did that I would not see my wife or my 2 little girls for long periods of time. I know the economy is in the dumps and all of that. What I don't understand is why are some hospitals not hiring any new grads. If there really is a "massive nursing shortage" comming aren't they doing themselves a diservice. I am sure some new grads will go and find a non nursing job eventually and never do nursing. So this just contributes to the problem down the road and is very short sighted. I am starting to think I wasted my time in school. Even the nursing homes here want experience. Most places just won't give you a chance. I went to BUDS in the Navy(didn't make it through). It was easier getting into that than a nursing job. I am tired of the pitty party too. I just want to work. I can't even get a volunteer job interview it seems. Any suggestions????
