  1. hey--just opening up the thread again. have people started buying books yet? i already got an email from the prof of nurs 150 and we have to buy like 6 books for just one class!! anyone else super nervous/excited for classes to start? any students who are already in the program and reading this have any suggestions for us??
  2. I just found out I got it too!! Was not expecting to hear back so quickly! In the financial aid part, it looks like part of the 80% maybe includes loans? is that right?
  3. Hey, I am going to try to bring this conversation back from the dead. I just found out I got the WHC scholarship but I am trying to find out more about the program. For those of you who are probably working there now, are you happy? What are the pros and cons?
  4. what did people wear for the experience georgetown?
  5. dlrosen--I am debating between GW and GU as well. I wish GW had some kind of accepted student day. I also wish they had more financial aid/scholarships. Is anyone from Northern Virginia going to the WHC interviews on May 7th?
  6. hey TFL410--did you get the washington hospital scholarship or another one? are you really happy with georgetown?
  7. hey i'm debating between gw and gtown as well, i do not know how to private message though... i don't know about gtown b/c it's so expensive and even if i apply to the scholarship we do not find out until august and by then we will have had to pay the $900 deposit! and i have also heard mixed reviews about washington hospital.
  8. hey everyone, I just found out I got in. So people should be getting emails any time now!
  9. hey--which school did you accept? and do you regret going to a cheaper but not as high ranked school?? i'm in the middle of deciding if i want to go to a cheaper closer school or the number 1 school
  10. GWU

Hey, glad to hear information about the program from someone in the program! I got accepted a month ago. I also was accepted to Johns Hopkins. I live in Falls Church, so GW is obviously preferable. Are you still happy with the program? Do you think you are going to have a good shot at getting a good job right after graduating? Are there any scholarships availbe to help with the tuition?
  11. I got into Johns Hopkins and George Washington University accelerated programs. GW is closer to home and a lot cheaper, but JHU is ranked number 1! Does it really matter what school I go to? It is hard for me to think about potentially turning down a number 1 school to safe money and be closer to home and not have to commute.
  12. dlrosen--thank you so much for doing that and getting back to us. that's a lot of great news, i live right by west falls church metro station. I"ll have to look into that. I got into Marymount and Johns Hopkins as well but Johns Hopkins is so much more expensive and I would not be able to live at home and my husband is applying to schools in VA, not MD. So I'm def leaning towards GW...what about you dlrosen?
  13. Hey Clarkc27, dlrosen's thread is helpful. We both found out that last year out of the 17 that graduated, 15 have reported back passing the NCLEX. This year they accepted 75 students. The lecture class will be all the students. The lab will be up to 19-20 students with 2 teachers, and the clinicals will be up to 6 students. We would most likely have class 3-4 times a week and clinicals at some hospital 2 times a week. I don't think we have much say in where we go. Yes, I do have healthcare experience. I have volunteered at hospitals and I do medical research now. I study chronic lung disease in pre-mature babies. dlrosen, did you get a chance to find a student to talk to? I would be interested to know what you learned.
  14. Hey, if any of you actually went to GWU for the accelerated program, I am very intersted to hear what you think and if you are happy with your decision!
  15. I spoke with someone from GW yesterday. She said from the 17 students that graduated last semester 15 have reported back saying they passed the NCLEX. GW has a great name and is $44,000. Clinicals can be anywhere from DC to Reston to Arlington to other parts of VA. She said the class will be around 75-80 students. Labs will be around 19 students with 2 teachers and clinicals will be 5 students. Marymount is around $46,000. It has a good passing rate but it is not ranked as high as GW. I live in Falls Church area and would be interested in carpooling with anyone.
