  1. KoKo2002 Thank you for the heads up and pointers! I will print out that link and review it. That's very helpful of you! It only has been a few semesters since I finished A&P , however, I feel like I can't remember what I learned in it. LOL. I got a A in the class, but I think I am just working my self up. And Hopefulgirl I also feel like I am heading into this blind. The important thing to look at is you got in! Your academic standing must be somewhat good, and administration choose you amongst many other applicants. We both should both be happy about that! That is reason to definitely reason to celebrate! I feel the teachers help you and want you to succeed. It scares me, however, when I hear of the teachers who intentionally try to weed students out of the program :/ We'll be fine though! Keep in touch if you want. I know a girl that will also be in the program, if you need a study partner let us know!
  2. btw. Koko2002.. Any suggestions on what we should be looking over from now until January? Just so that we can be prepared.. ?? Maybe like a list of the drug we should start reviewing now? I was thinking about purchasing the Pharmacology text book early to look over it. Thoughts, or suggestions would greatly be appreciated Thanx
  3. Hello everyone, Well it looks like I have stumbled upon the perfect discussion forum. I have also been accepted into the Registered Nursing program starting this January! Looking forward to it, yet also very nervous. Thank you koko2002 for your very helpful and detailed information. I know I will be fine, just a little apprehensive about taking on the classes. I currently work as an EMT and know several nurse who are in the program or have recently graduated from the program. I am truly pleased that the tuition is significantly lower in comparison to others schools. --Looking forward to the orientation on Dec 6th! See you all there. I'll try keeping in touch. If you all want we can try emailing each other since I cannot 'privately message anyone' ? Let me know your thoughts on that. -- Take care! and Congratulations to all of you. We'll be just fine.. Celebrate your last few weeks of freedom while you still can.
  4. To:navulpis So didn't do as good as I thought on my NLN score.. I received my letter in the mail last week stating that I was not accepted.... Bummer, a bit of a set back, but I am determined and will not give up! Currently petitioning at Matc and will probably retake the NLN to bump up my score a bit. Well, just so you know.. Best of luck to you and your endeavor.
  5. It's a combination of a bunch of criteria... GPA (I have a 3.0) I believe I was in the 60% on the NLN (not that good).. They also Know I am an EMT-I and was a part-time fire fighter for the last few year (so I have experience)... AND I am male... and Mexican American.... Hopefully, all these factors put together make me stand out a little bit?? lol, but who really knows anyway!
  6. got it, Thanx for the help. looks like I have to take it again...
  7. Is a 105 composite score good?
  8. Hey navulpis! You got yours right away? Did you take it @ Stritch? I will find out any day now what I got. And soon we both will find out if we are accepted! How did you do? What was your score? I thought the test was kinda hard! And yes, I'm very nervous. Well good luck to you, hope all goes well! I will be back on here in a few days to update my status on this blog. look forward to hearing how all it goes!
  9. Thanx! I will first try to talk with some nurses I work with in the ER. Some recently just graduated from Stritch in the last few years.. I am assuming thos books would be ok.?
  10. Cool, Thanx, so I have heard.. Aside from being an EMT the last 5 years, I have taken most of my general eds, and also anatomy 1 &2, micro, biochem, and patho.. Should it go by 'easier' since I will have a "light load"... ? Oh, and willing to buy your books from you too if you are looking to get rid of any?
  11. I agree with most of the reply to this post. I have been an EMT-IV since 21 (5years now) Currently in finishing my pre-reqs for the Nursing program.. The first few semesters you feel like you have heared everything before and things go smoothly.. Huge advantage! Your peers ask you questions and look to you for help in study groups/clinicals... However, this feeling of being 'head of the class' quickly fades away and you feel like your at the same level of everyone else fast... (struggling and staying up long hours of studying) All in all, it's good to have it before, due to the experience and gaining confidence.. Just don't get too confident.. The schooling gets hard, but you will be fine. Best of luck to you!
  12. Hey, was just reading all the posts and was glad to find all this information on this site. awesome! I noticed that LolitaHansen, you have also took the NLN for admission into the Fall 2011 program.. I JUST took my NLN on Feb 26 (the last possible day to take it) and got everything in before March 1st. Was just wondering what you got?? And if they notified you if you were accepted or not? I have to wait one more week before I find out anything, But I feel like I did good.. Let me know!! Your info would help out a lot in easing the stress of waiting ... THANKS Oh, and thanks SydneyJo1 for all your info on this blog.. How is the program going so far?
