RN in nursing home
Hi everyone, I have been feeling really down about my job ever since I started. I am an RN now and I was an LPN before. When I was an LPN I hated everything about nursing homes. I don't like the dynamics of a nursing home. I got my RN license in hopes of getting a hospital job because that is what I've dreamt of for years. I looked for months and put in countless applications and got nowhere. I was broke so I applied at a nursing home and they hired me the same day. I work the floor just like I did when I was an LPN. The only "RN responsibility" I have is hanging IVs and taking call-offs. Is there any hope for me? Will I be stuck in the same crappy job that I tried to escape from forever? Any one else in the same boat? I am really starting to feel like I made a mistake becoming a nurse because every nursing job I've had I hate it. what to do??

rn new grad training as tech?
Hi! Just wondered where your possible job was, I'm kind of in the same boat and I have an interview for the position in Ft. Lauderdale FL

Should I be thinking FL is the answer?
Hi, I am writing because I currently live in a small town in Ohio. I have had 3 interviews and 0 job offers. I have put in countless applications and have now decided that my only option is to flee Ohio. I have applied for endorsement of my RN license in FL and am just waiting for word that it is approved. I spent about a week in FL with my sister in law who lives in St. Pete and called about 10 LTC facilities. All said they were hiring. I look online and see many listings at local hospitals (Baycare, St. Pete general, etc) Yet, so many people say they are having a really hard time getting a job. I am a new grad as well but I am willing to work absolutely anywhere! I know my need for a job is no more desperate than anyone else's but I would really like to know if there is ANY hope for me getting a job down here. St. Pete, Tampa, and surrounding is the area I want to focus on (I will be living with my S.I.L while I get on my feet.) Any one else in the same boat? Any body with anything good to report?

how long does it take!?
Thank you! I am licensed in OH so I am just trying to get the endorsement. The Florida board of nursing website says that it could take up to 30 days but I was hoping it would be a little sooner than that! Thanks again!

Looking for employment in FL
I have posted something in the FLORIDA forum and no one has responded I don't think any place is in DIRE need of nurses but there may be more positions available than there are where I live. EVERYONE where I live goes to become a nurse because there's nothing else as far as jobs go.

Panicking about not being able to find a job!!
I worked in nursing homes with skilled patients before. I'm wondering if that will help me to get my foot in the door. I've been really seriously considering FL , I just wasn't sure if I really wanted to move without being really sure I could get something

Panicking about not being able to find a job!!
I'm in Zanesville OH and there are 2 hospitals here that are affiliated together and that is where the HR person came from and spoke to my class and destroyed our hopes of getting jobs. I have looked other places but I'm really squeamish about applying anywhere because of all the negative feedback that I've heard.

Panicking about not being able to find a job!!
I worked at a place JUST like that when I graduated from LPN school and stuck it out for 3 months but I HAD to leave when they started threatening people losing their licenses. NO WAY was I gonna get sucked into that! I feel that I am more prepared and experienced now that I could handle myself in that situation yet I know I don't wanna be in that boat again..

Panicking about not being able to find a job!!
This is all I have been hearing. My school had a mini presentation from an HR person from our local hospital and she REALLY knew how to rain on a parade! She came in and said there were over 760 applicants for RN positions and that we basically had no hope for getting a job. I was so depressed, I didn't know what to do! I still don't! I haven't really put in any apps because I'm so fresh out of school and have no hope!! I am getting desperate though already!!

Looking to relocate if it means a job..
Hi nurses!! I am currently living in Ohio and am a new graduate! I had been an LPN for about a year before going to get my RN license. Now I hear that there are like NO prospects for RNs where I live. My sister in law and mother in law live in FL and one is a nurses aide and the other an LPN and they say the jobs for them are plentiful but I want to know about RN jobs. I don't want to pick up my life and go down there if I'm not really confident that I will be able to find a job. They are in the Tampa/St. Pete area and that's where I would like to go too. PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks for any help..

Panicking about not being able to find a job!!
I live in a small town now. The thing is, this small town is surrounded by schools that crank out nurses left and right. I just feel like I'm competing with too many other people because nursing is like the only job around here. I live in Zanesville, OH and it's not good. I would definetly consider moving if I REALLY thought I could get a full time job.

Panicking about not being able to find a job!!
Hi nurses!! I am a new grad and I have heard nothing but bad news about hopes for getting a job. I did precepting and every nurse that my preceptor and I ran into sad there is nothing out there and it is hopeless. I worked as an LPN for a little over a year so I have a little experience but I'm just really nervous!! Is there anywhere that the demand is still high for nurses? Is anyone giving sign on bonuses? I have some student loan debts that I'd like to pay down as quickly as possible.. Please help me! I'm losing sleep over this!!!!
