UCSD Perinatal/NICU RN New Grad Program Summer 2013
Sorry for your bad news ): How did they notify you? And was it the NICU loop you interviewed for? I interviewed for L&D almost 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet...long wait!

UCSD New Grad (FMCC/NICU/Perinatal Program) 2013
Yes, she wrote back and confirmed that the rejection email was only referring to the NICU loop (the position I did not interview for)...so still waiting to hear back from L&D. This wait is awful!

Samuel Merritt's Transition to Professional Nursing Practice (T2P) - Summer 2013
I would pay it by the 17th to avoid being dropped...just in case. I haven't paid it yet, only because I'm waiting to hear if I got a job and should hear any day now. But if I haven't heard by Monday, I will pay the T2P tuition then.

UCSD New Grad (FMCC/NICU/Perinatal Program) 2013
I just got an email that was a little confusing. It was a rejection letter for the NICU loop saying thank you for interviewing but we've chosen another candidate. However, I only interviewed for the L&D loop- never even met the NICU manager. So I'm really hoping the letter only pertained to the NICU loop and that I still have a chance for the L&D loop (haven't heard from them). I emailed them back asking for clarification. Has anyone else heard anything yet? For those who interviewed for the L&D loop, when were you told you would hear back? They told me around 2 weeks, maybe a little longer and my interview was on May 31.

UCSD New Grad (FMCC/NICU/Perinatal Program) 2013
I think they got the statuses a little mixed up. I applied for both loops, but have only interviewed for L&D loop (my first choice). The other day when I checked my status, the L&D loop one still said "referred to hiring manager" and the NICU loop one said "consideration for interview" although I've heard nothing from NICU since responding to their initial questions. Today I checked again and NICU status says "interviewed- pending decision" and L&D says "consideration for interview". So I'm pretty sure they just got a little mixed up.

Hi SDRN03- how did your interview go today? Good I hope! (:

UCSD New Grad (FMCC/NICU/Perinatal Program) 2013
My interview was for the L&D loop. It ended up being 3 people (2 managers of L&D, 1 of FMCC) and they were very nice. I felt like it went really well, but then again you never know what exactly they are looking for and who else they are interviewing. There were some behavioral questions, but not as many as in past interviews I've had. They wanted to know more specifics about my preceptorship, and there was one prioritization question. I was told they will not be letting people know for 2 weeks, possibly a little longer. That wait is going to be so hard! Good luck on your interview next week! Which loop are you interviewing for?

Boston College Traditional MS Program Fall 2013
Yes, unfortunately I did not get in. I got an email about a week ago. I did get into 3 other programs and also have an interview for an RN job next week, so at least there are some good options (: How about you?

Samuel Merritt's Transition to Professional Nursing Practice (T2P) - Summer 2013
I graduated from SMU in May 2012. I have applied to over 300 jobs, have had 3 interviews and only one job offer (in NC) which I turned down to to the hardship it would have caused to go there. I also mentioned in my app that I had applied to grad school to get my MSN but that I really would like to work over going back to school at this point. I have been volunteering in a hospital for around 6 months, have taken a Maternity course where I'm living, have networked, and gotten certifications. I also mentioned that I am taking a medical spanish class as well as working toward another certification specific to my field of interest. I got into the program and was planning on attending, but just found out the other day I got an interview at a wonderful hospital in my preferred unit. So if I get that job, I will definitely take it. If not, I'll see you guys in the T2P program! Good luck to those who haven't heard yet!

UCSD New Grad (FMCC/NICU/Perinatal Program) 2013
I applied for the recent new grad program in the Perinatal loop (there were actually 2 different ones this time) and am unable to find a thread for this particular app cycle. I have an interview next Friday and am VERY excited. This is really my ideal job and I'd be so happy to get a chance to work there. Anyway, I was hoping I might be able to get some pointers from those who interviewed last time around- what types of questions did they ask? In the interviews I've had so far, it's been mostly behavioral- i.e. tell me about a time you used the nursing process with a patient or what would you do if you had a conflict with a coworker. I have not been asked any clinical questions yet, but does UCSD ask those types of questions? Any advice/ input is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Samuel Merritt's Transition to Professional Nursing Practice (T2P) - Summer 2013
I logged into my account and the tuition due is the amount for the T2P program, plus at some point I was able to see those words as something I was registered for. After clicking some stuff, I can't see that anymore. I'll probably call the school tomorrow to confirm, but yes, please let me know if you hear back. I'm assuming they tell you what clinicals you're doing during the orientation that is listed for July 1?

Samuel Merritt's Transition to Professional Nursing Practice (T2P) - Summer 2013
I got an email from SMU Admissions office this afternoon saying congratulations on your acceptance to take course(s) at SMU for the summer 2013 and then a lot of instructions on requirements to get done (i.e. health insurance, payment, etc). I'm of course assuming this means I got accepted, but I wish the email had specifically said something specific about Transition to Practice program. I guess I'm just a little weary of good news until it is totally clear. Has anyone else heard anything?

Samuel Merritt's Transition to Professional Nursing Practice (T2P) - Summer 2013
I applied as well. I graduated from SMU a year ago and have not been able to find a job. So I'm really hoping they accept me, especially considering I gave them so much money in tuition. Anyway, I heard that we should have a decision by May 26. One of my former classmates went through this program last time around and got hired with CPMC and she said many others got job offers as well, but I have no idea how many/ what percentage. I'm hoping it's a good chance, but I figure it's better to get more clinical time and refresh my skills than to not, regardless of whether a job offer is made. Good luck everyone!

UCSF and SFSU NP 2013 admissions decisions
The nursing dept emailed me this morning. Good luck!

UCSF and SFSU NP 2013 admissions decisions
Finally heard back from SFSU. I was not accepted for the FNP track, but they offered me a spot for Public/ Community Health track. They said I didn't have the right experience for the FNP track since I do not have RN experience yet (but am licensed). I'm not sure why they chose to accept me for Public/ Community health, but after more research I don't think that is the right choice for me. I was trying to think of a way to make it work so I could go to SFSU, but I decided I should go with one of my other options at this point since they'll help me reach my goals more directly. Did you hear back? Good luck! I hope you get in (:

UCSF and SFSU NP 2013 admissions decisions
Still nothing! Normally I wouldn't be so antsy, but first they said we'd hear back the last 2 weeks of April. Then when I called, I was told they were sending out decisions last week. I called again yesterday and at first she said she thought they had finished sending the decisions, but then on 2nd thought said maybe that was only for the FNP certificate people. They were supposed to call me back with some answers, but haven't yet. I got accepted to CSU Long Beach and UC Denver, but I'm from SF and my family is there so I think that is my first choice. Either way, I just want to know already. Did you apply other places? Good luck!

Boston College Traditional MS Program Fall 2013
No, I'm actually from the West Coast as well...California. Where are you moving from? I decided to apply to BC because the Women's Health specialty was offered there, the program did not require me to have RN experience before applying, and I had not missed the deadline. I am a new grad RN (well, sort of. I graduated a year ago) and have not had any luck in this horrible job market. I was always planning on going back to school eventually for either NP or CNM, but decided to apply now as a back up plan in case I still don't have a job by this fall. I applied to several other programs in various locations, about half for WHNP and half for CNM (and one for FNP). Do you know anything about the BC program? I'm sure it is a great program, but I'm having a hard time finding opinions on the quality of NP programs online. I feel like it's much easier to find that kind of info for undergraduate programs. I suppose if I get in, I will contact the school and ask for some stats such as success rates of graduates finding employment soon, etc. Did you apply anywhere else? Good luck! I hope we both get in (:

Just got a rejection email for cohort #2. That was quick! Well, I guess it is better than having false hope. Better to know. Good luck everyone!

CHLA RN Residency September 2013
I don't know if this is the case for all units, but this is what I was told by HR or the recruiter (whoever it was that called me in for the pre-screening). She said they are doing pre-screenings through May 7 and then will let people know either way about a week after that whether they get a formal interview. I applied for NICCU, so I don't know whether that info is specific to that unit or not. Good luck!

CHLA RN Residency September 2013
I was not told to prepare for any certain question, other than why I want to work in NICCU. Do you mean a question from the application?
-
Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 2013
Yes, this question was frustrating because I graduated last year, so none of the options were true for me. But it made me pick one, so I essentially lied and just chose Jan-Feb so they wouldn't think I'm still in school. Makes no sense.

CHLA RN Residency September 2013
When you say first round, are you talking about the pre-screening interview? Or is that something different? I have a pre-screening interview with the NICCU managers on Wed AM and was told it is only 10 minutes. Has anyone had their pre-screening yet? Just wondering which questions they ask, other than why you want to work there.
