  1. Did you find any study guides? I am looking for some as well.
  2. Kindhearted .. did you pass it?
  3. Also, I took the new test... Not sure what the differences were from the old test.
  4. Well ... I took it and passed it today. It was very hard. All of the ANCC tests that I have taken have been difficult. I failed the ANCC Nursing Informatics test the first time, after earning a masters degree in the subject. I am a very good test taker though. Anyways. I bought the audio review course that came with the review book and the small ANCC Nurse executive book. I thought the review audio course and review book were a waste of time. I listened to the audio review course for the first night, and all the instructor did was verbally go over the review book. I honestly don't know how I passed this exam. I felt like I guessed 1/2 of the time. I studied the small ANCC Nurse Executive book for about three hours yesterday. That is all I did. I recently had spine surgery and I have the next few months off. I thought I would have the time to concentrate and study for this exam, however I honestly didn't realize how tired I was going to be. Anyways I have attended several nursing administration/leadership courses in the past 2 years and recently finished a MSN in 2011. I felt like nothing I studied from the Nurse Executive book was on the exam. Almost all of the questions on the test I got right were from empirical knowledge or from the leadership courses contained in the MSN degree. Anyways, good luck and sorry I couldn't be of more help...
  5. I have been a manager for 6 years. I will let you know how things go. I heard that this was a hard test... from another colleague.
  6. I bought the book and review course. I think the review course is a waste of time. It covers the same content as the book. I am due to take it on MAY 17th. Wishing for the best. I heard it was hard. Did you get your score? How close were you?
  7. I registered for the study group and I plan on taking the certification in may. I will let you know how it goes..
  8. Hello, Where is this 2 day course you mentioned? Thanks, Chris
  9. Gene, The study book that comes along with it is a basic outline of sorts. I think you will be ok if you expand on what is covered on the workbook. I really liked the study group and thought almost all of the stuff they discussed was on the test. I recorded it. (Skyped in - used computer microphone) and played the group in the car while driving or working out. Good stuff...
  10. Has anyone taken this exam recently? Thoughts? Tips? Worth? Thanks,
  11. Seminars and Study Groups - American Nurses Credentialing Center - ANCC There it is! Thanks! Chris
  12. i would like to bump this and re-recommend the the informatics nursing study group by marisa l. wilson dnsc, mhsc, rn-bc. if you record it via skype and focus on memorizing the material i don't think you will have any problems passing the exam! avoid the ancc modules by mariam hamilimi
  13. Yes, that is what I did (went by the program handbook) . I thought it was fairly easy the second time around. I also bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0135043948/ Handbook of Informatics for Nurses and Healthcare Professionals (4th Edition) [Paperback] Which is an easy read. Honestly if you pay attention to that study group you should be 80 percent there. No sweat! Another tip. I recorded the study group. I called in via skype and used the sound recorder on my computer. I then listened to it later and uploaded it to my ipod so I could listen to it in the car/exercising. I hate to complain about the ANCC narrative review, but I thought it was awful. Good luck!
  14. I actually think the narrative review hurt more than helped me! The way the Life Cycle was presented was out of order and confusing. I left the test thinking "Nothing I studied was on the test?!" The study group material was very reflective of the exam. I don't think you have to wait until November. Take it in October. I took mine the morning after the last study group lecture. You are so close! By the way, since you failed the test, the study group should be free. Mine was. Thanks,
  15. Thanks.. to clarify the course that I recommend is Informatics Nursing Study Group Speakers: Marisa L. Wilson DNSc, MHSc, RN-BC Not the ANCC Seminar offered by Miriam Halimi! The study group should give you 80 percent of the test. The rest you already know from work experience.
  16. I just wanted to tell everyone that I retook the exam on June 20th and passed! Despite failing the first time, I didn't think the exam was that hard. The ANCC Study group was very beneficial and truly represented a good portion of the test. I would recommend it over anything out there. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement.
  17. I like your idea of "Passing the ANCC NI Certification" i would also like to hear about your experiences in NI and what future jobs in NI will be booming in the future.
  18. Angela, Thanks for the tip. I just ordered "Scope and Standards of Nursing Informatics Practice by the ANA (2008)" from Amazon. ANCC did not provide me with a copy upon registration. I looked at a electronic copy online and I am glad that I ordered it. There is a bunch of information that I could have used for the exam. I think the Heba and Czar book, the ANA book, The 2 ANCC courses and the Pearls review course are enough for me for the time being. I have tomorrow off and I plan on studying the whole day! Thanks for all the advice!
  19. Angela, I just bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0135043948/ Handbook of Informatics for Nurses and Healthcare Professionals (4th Edition) [Paperback] I used the digital version for a class. I plan on using this as well.
  20. This is my gameplan for next time 1. Attend the ANCC Nurse Study Group http://www.cvent.com/events/informatics-nurse-study-group/event-summary-32c1b1a8f8404f2bab01acb6de1c6bd3.aspx Since I failed the ANCC exam, I get this for free. It starts on May 3rd and ends on June 21st. 2. Continue with the ANCC Study Course. There is lots there that I didn't memorize. I have access to this for the next 30 days (May 14th) 3. I registered for the pearlsreview.com website to get contact hours and their info for the Nurse Informatics Certifications. I looked over the info. I am not too impressed. There is some stuff on there that I can use. 4. Possibly get help from Anglea over the phone once I have cemented a good base. Then .. 2nd to 3rd week in June I will retest. That is the plan..
  21. Thanks! I wouldn't wish for another career!
  22. I recently finished the MSN in Informatics. I think you will do fine. I honestly deserved to fail, because I didn't properly prepare. I thought I could wing it because I did good on the pretest. MISTAKE!
  23. Angela, Thanks for the offer! I might take you up on it. I want to go ahead and log some more study time before I choose to go that route. here is the breakdown of the test 1. System Life Cycle Performance Level LOW 2. Human Factors Performance Level Medium 3. Information Technology Performance Level Medium 4. Information Management and Knowledge Generation Performance Level High 5. Professional Practice, Trends and Issues Performance Level Medium 6. Models and Theories Performance Level High 7. Management and Leadership: Performance Level Low Since the System life cycle is 38 percent of the test, I bet if I concentrate on that I would pass the test the next time. I re-registered yesterday and plan on taking the test exactly 60 days from April 12th (my failure date) When i saw the printout, I couldn't believe I scored low on Management and leadership. I revisited the 10th module of the Study guide and didn't find one question from the material they provided!
  24. Angela, Also i looked at the ANIA website http://www.ania-caring.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=101757&orgId=car Where is their forums?
