ANP vs ACNP
I was recently offered a position with a hospitalist group, the ACNP was never brought up in our discussion. I wondered about that when I was offered the job. Using nurse practitioners in our hospital is new to our facility. If you don't mind sharing what your job description entails and what types of patients you will be rounding on, etc. Thanks.

Nurse practitioner's in the hospital setting.
I have read the other post regarding NP's working in a hospital setting, not much help. I have been offered a positioned with our hospitalist team who are contracted by our hospital. My questions are:1. How is the role of the nurse practitioner defined? I would like to hear from other NP's who work in this role. This is new to our hospital.2. Is there a job description on what the NP's can and cannot do. I was told that I would be doing H&P 's, discharges, setting up home health and not sure of other things.3. The position will be part time initially.I have been a NP for a year and only worked in an Internal Medicine Practice a couple days a week. Any assistance I can obtain would be great, thanks. D

Failed the AANP and ANCC
I am so sorry you did not do well. I took the AANP on August 17, 2011 and passed. I studied Fitzgerald's CD's and her review books. I attended her seminar and went over the information as well as the CD's several times. If you can attend one of her seminars it will be most helpful for you, or it you can get your hands on the review course book and the CD's that would be most helpful. I graduated in May, 2011 and did not have committed study time due to vacations, after the fourth of July I buckled down and set goals for myself of what I would study each day. Each day I would listen to a lecture on a topic and follow that with review questions along with rationals. The questions that I missed I looked up. The test was not that difficult for me, I guess was because I studied on my days off and that was my focus. I did not tell anyone I was taking the test because I didn't want that kind of pressure. I am not sure how many CEUs Fitzgerald is, but I feel she prepared me more. I don't feel like I would have passed the ANCC due to the research, etc. on the test. Let me know if I can be of any additional help. Good luck to you and don't give up!

AANP study tips
I to have received an e-mail from the AANP to sit for boards. I have not gotten a letter with my registration number on it yet, should be in the mail now. I will probably sit for my exam in July or August. I attended Fitzgerald's review in April, I have her CD's and alot of the information was verbatim. I was unaware of this when I attended. I looked into the Amelie Hollier lecture, but I was unsure. How did you feel about this one?
