  1. Yes, it's me, Sandra. Is this Kirsten?!! How funny!
  2. Hi guys, I am starting Quincy College - tomorrow!!! I'm doing the part-time RN Program, so the class is 4-8:30 on Wednesdays and my lab is 8-10PM on Mondays. Clinical starts the end of February. I'm excited and nervous!! Our orientation was way back in August and we received our first reading assignments for the class and lab back then, so I've been pretty much reading the chapter here and there since then. Just took Intro to Computers over the Winter Intersession and took College Math in the Fall. The only other classes I have left to take are English Comp II, Micro, & US History. It'll be tough b/c the part-time program doesn't have the whole summer off, we go back to school in July. I've been taking pre-reqs and classes since Jan. of '04!
  3. At first I thought I was going to take money out of my 401K, use some of my tax returns....but I decided to borrow it all (federal student loans). There are hospitals here in Boston that have loan forgiveness as part of their benefits package.
  4. Hi everyone! I will be starting nursing school in Jan. '08. Will be 2 years part-time, and will graduate in 2010. I just sent in my seat deposit the other day! I have finished my pre-reqs but have been taking classes one by one for the last 2 years, only have Intro to Computers, College Algebra, English Comp II, Microbiology and US History to go. Hopefully I can take a few of those next year and will therefore only have the nursing classes and clinicals to do by the time I do start. I was originally going to start in Jan. '07, but found out I am pregnant and my due date is Dec. 9th!!! So, school is put off one year but that is fine by me. My new mantra: R-N 2010! R-N 2010! :wink2:
  5. I was number 4 on the waitlist for this January's Part-Time program...and then found out that I am having a baby in December!!! So, I defered for one year and will now start in January of '08 - seems like a million light years away. In the meantime I am taking all of my non-nursing classes so that by the time I do get into the program I will only have to take the Nursing classes and do my clinicals. maybe if you have to wait until January you could take a class and get it out of the way?:)
  6. I too am taking all the non-nursing courses so that by the time I start school I will only have to take the nursing classes and do the clinicals. For Spring of '06 I am only taking English Comp. I. I am also going to try and test out of "Intro to Computers", so then I will have completed 2 classes in the spring semester! The last time I spoke to someone at the college to which I applied, I am number 4 on the waiting list!
  7. My favorite nurse is definitely Abby from ER, with Carol Hathaway a close second. Although I wish they kept Abby a nurse and didn't have her go to med school and become a doctor. I'm not a nurse yet, but an RN friend of mine said she doesn't know any nurse who's gone on to become a doctor, and had never even heard a real-life story about a nurse leaving nursing to be an MD. Is this really rare??
  8. This is actually my first post ever! I usually just read through everything and soak it all in....anyway, when I do finally become a nursing student, my fears are that I will no longer have any sort of life (constantly studying, studying, studying!) and that I will be asked questions I should know the answers to, but all of a sudden don't!
