  1. I'm not sure, but I think 3.7-3.8 for the weekend and UH cohorts, and maybe a little lower for the traditional accelerated during the week. Maybe that's because the traditional takes a lot students. Our class was 16 students, I think there was over 150 applicants.
  2. 4.0, and my previous bachelor degree was in maternal child health.
  3. The program is very competitive to get in! Do the best you can to do well in your prereqs and keep your GPA high.
  4. I worked part time the entire program. The dates of clinicals you may have a little in advance, but the location sometimes we didn't find out until the day before the semester started. With the more specialty classes like OB and psych we knew longer in advance.
  5. I graduated from the UH ABSN cohort with Kent last year. When I started I was working and had 2, 4, and 6 year old little boys. It was a challange but honestly it wasn't too bad. I also got a 4.0, so it is definitely doable.
  6. I recently graduated from Kent's ABSN program. GPA was a big factor for sure. There were over 150 applicants to my cohort, and 16 were accepted. It is very competitive.
  7. Hello! I just graduated with my BSN am looking to go for my MSN is education. WGU is appealing for many reasons. I am wanting to know though from the employer's perspective, how is WGU regarded? Would it be a hindrance to being hired to have a degree from WGU? I don't know anyone who has attended WGU, and when I asked my faculty their opinion, including our asst. dean, they hadn't even heard of it but seemed leery based on the description of the program and how it is set up. I'd hate to be passed over for a job just based on where I got my degree. I hope I am making sense! Any input is appreciated!
  8. I dont know about Tri-C, but I am in the accelerated BSN program at Kent. I dont qualify for financial aid either, but I do get federal loans by filling out the FAFSA. I figure in one year the degree will pay for itself. I think the application deadline is coming up for Kent's accelerated Nights and Weekends Cohort, maybe check it out?
  9. Cool! Will you be staying in the area once the program is over?
  10. Where are you moving here from ehudock22?
  11. Can the pants be any style? Cargo, fit, etc?
  12. JavaRX- did you buy the uniforms through Life Uniforms? Or is there a cheaper place? At orientation Life Uniforms will be there, and I was wondering if I should get fitted, take the brand/style numbers and buy elsewhere. $140 for a uniform seems steep.
  13. Thanks! I think the general KSU ones might still be open, though Im not sure! Hopefully we both find some funding! My first BS has me drowning too still.
  14. Yup! July 7th! The price is definitely intimidating. I applied for all the KSU nursing scholarships I could for this academic year (application period closed for those May 1st, which I think is stupid because we dont even know if we are accepted at that point) so Im really hoping I get some of those, I also applied for general KSU scholarships too, and have loans that I got through FAFSA. The hospital I work at also provides 2-3k for getting your BSN so I'll apply for that next spring. Our acceptance was too late to apply this year.
  15. Congrats!!! I'm a little sad we won't be in the same cohort though :) maybe we'll meet at orientation?
  16. AHH!!! I GOT ACCEPTED TO THE UH COHORT!!!!! I cant believe I got 1 of 16 slots out of 132 applicants! SOO CRAZY!!! Im so scared, lol!!!
  17. I know she said 48, but those numbers dont add up with 24 to daytime, and 16 to UH. So I dont know. I know for sure though that UH went down from 20 to 16 though. I was asked about my educational background, what preparations I had done so feel I would be able to do the program, what I felt the role of the RN was, and if my being in lactation and knowing that is my specialty would make me disappointed (I think that was the word they used) with nursing school since there is only 7 weeks OB. She said she was aiming for having the emails out Monday, though it could go as late as Wednesday. Hoping it doesnt go to Wednesday!
  18. All done :) I feel like it went well. ------------- said there were up to 6 points allowed for the interview portion, Im hoping I got all 6, so my GPA is the only place I'd not be getting full points since I have the prereq's and blue classes done. (she said the average GPA of the ones invited to interview was cumulative 3.5, and I think 3.1 for the sciences, though Im not sure if Im remembering that one right) Apparently they are interviewing 80 people, I thought it was just 40. There were 132 applicants this cycle. So now Im back to being pretty worried about getting in, especially since I want UH cohort and they only admit 16. Are you going for UH, or daytime?
  19. Good luck!! Come back and let us know how it goes!
  20. 5 or 6 pages!? It still showed on page one for me! I would have bumped it if I'd known it had fallen back.
  21. Ive had this post here over two months and this is the first action its been getting! There were 40 interview slots, and the website says they average at least 100 applicants per cycle, and I would guess that goes up with the cycles that are admitting two cohorts like this one. I created this post, and a Facebook group to try to find other applicants. No one has found the FB group yet though. Im hoping once/if I get in then the others of the cohort will join. FB groups are super awesome for keeps up to date with people in a primarily distance program. Look on FB for Kent State ABSN UH-Cohort Fall 2015 Candidates
  22. For the Sunday portion, is it all day? I told work I'd be able to work the opposite day of whatever day the clinical was :/ oops. Im glad to hear the workload is manageable, I have 3 kids (2, 4, and 6 years old) and work 2-4 days per week, (sometimes more) whatever is needed. Though my coworkers are very supportive of being applying to this program and will work with me when needed. Where did you park for the classes? Was it hard to find parking? Did you have to pay for it? I went to the CC, UH, Case area of downtown for the first time today and holy cow, that looks congested and miserable to navigate! Im very used to disorganized programs, haha, my BS was EXTREMELY disorganized. I think the program grew to fast and they were just scrambling like crazy just to keep up. Im pretty good at ignoring those things. As long as the program prepares us for the NCLEX then I dont mind some trial and error. How should I get a hold of you once I find out if I get accepted and get the purchase list? Thanks so much for the offer!!
  23. Thanks JavaRx! Any advice on getting through the program? How much travel was there to Kent? Were the clinicals actually on weekends? bnatale- Good luck!! Mine is Thursday at 1:40, I didnt see the email until almost a day after it was sent so the morning slots were all filled up. Where do you live? Will this be a big commute for you? Im in Columbia Station, near Strongsville.
  24. I just got the email that I have been invited for an interview! I hope some other people going to interview find this post too! :)
  25. Because of how intense it was, or because of other reasons?
