No one will hire a nurse with only a Associates???
When I was a hiring manager I preferred to hire nurses who had started as a CNA, became an LPN then an ADN and then if they had a BSN, well that was good too. But I found the best nurses that I have worked with and that I hired followed that general "nurse progression." I went for the BSN from the start and I found that others that had been the CNA, LPN, etc were just better prepared and just generally good nurses.

As someone who has been there - and didn't finish the shifts - I say - finish the shifts. I promise that you'll feel better about that.

VA Travel Nurse Corp
Thanks 79Tango, What I really want to do is file a complaint about their incompetence with OPM. Does anyone know how to do that? If anyone else has had a bad experience with the VA Nurse Travel Corps out of Phoenix I would like to hear from them.

I got fired today
I agree with those that say don't mention it on your resume - or in an interview. Better to say you were just focusing on school for awhile and are now looking for another job. Sorry that happened.

VA Travel Nurse Corp
No, they really are that unorganized. I've never seen anything like it - I too have worked for the government for several years and took a little time off to work on my MSN/NP degree full-time. I thought it would be interesting to work for the Corps but after submitting information several times (over a period of almost a year now) and going through the medication test and interview and reference check - only to wait for months without a word - I've decided that this probably is just not going to happen. I've gone through this entire process and then I get contacted as if they have never heard of me before and they wonder if I'm still interested in the Corps...this has happened a few times. I'm really not sure what the problem is but at this point I'm working elsewhere but it has become a fascinating distraction wondering just how long this will go on.

How would you respond to this??
I agree with Dixielee - you have to pick your battles and you probably don't want to pick many with your future mother-in-law. Over the years she will learn you worth - in more ways than just in nursing. Good luck.
