  1. I am a new nursing grad who comes to the profession with a business degree and 20 yrs at a Fortune 500 company. In my previous career, I was a salaried manager who worked an avg of 70-80hrs per week and was paid for 40hrs. I got to spend NYE with my teenage son for the first time when he was 13. In addition, I worked every major holiday and took 4 vacations in 15 years, one of which I was called back from due to "business need." Stress and burnout happen in every line of work and in my opinion, unless you are independently wealthy you will always start to feel trapped at some point.
  2. I'm also a new grad in the ER and LOVE IT! What I have learned in my long 2 month career is: 1) - Always ask questions 2) - Learn from every nurse on your team 3) - Be accurate first...speed will come with experience 4) - God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth, use them proportionately 5) - 20 years experience trumps 4 years of class 99.9% of the time 6) - When another nurse shares information with you, the only correct answer is "Thank you for the help," not "yeah I already know that." (I actually witnessed another newbie do this several times and now they are struggling) 7) - you can do everything right and the still lose the pt Most importantly....it's OK to say a little prayer while you are treating the patient.
  3. I took the RN exam yesterday at 0800. The exam shut off at 75 questions and I got the good pop up when I got home an hour later.....keeping my fingers crossed. The test is computerized so the quick results should be available right after the test shuts off.....ARGGHH!
  4. Thank You, I will be checking that out tonight.
  5. I am looking at a website with "Realistic NCLEX Practice Exams." The website is http://www.NCLEXRNprep.com and they offer a free demo exam, however since I have not taken an NCLEX before, I'm not really sure if it is "realistic" or not. I was hoping that someone had experience with the site. Thanks, Bundy
  6. Hello. I'm a new RN graduate and will be taking my NCLEX in June. We completed the ATI review as part of our program but I was wondering if anyone had used the practice tests from this site? I am looking for not just practice questions from books but ones in the same format so I am not intimidated when I set for the NCLEX. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Bundy
