  1. Hi ashy's I was apart of the evening program so from what I heard from the Day students we had it a tiny bit easier. The instructors are very good and clinical rotations were a drag. The hospitals didn't really wants us there and were more appreciated of thr BCC RN students. The instructors were not really reasonable, we would have to put up a fight during test questions we thought were wrong. The test were extreamly hard, but study and you will do fine.... Hope thiis helped
  2. Good evening!! This question may have been answered already but who would I have to speak to for an extension on turning in all my health records, papers, etc.? They don't really give us much time. Received my provisional acceptance email on Thurs. but everything must be turned in by Wed.?!? That's crazyyyy, at least for me it is Thanks
  3. Congrats Mo16 & Peanuter!!! I'm was accepted in accelerated. I'm soo scared.
  4. @peanuter I heard the same thing! "Acceptance emails will go out early next week" good luck to those that are still waiting! Including me!!!
  5. From your MDC email account to ensure it does not end up in the spam folder
  6. I'm also waiting for an email. I called today and they stated second rounds would be this week. I applied to Generic PT/FT & Accelerated. ??
  7. Hi! Evenings are Mon-Thurs 2pm-10pm. Its still the same readings and lectures but because its evening I do feel a little more relaxed than the day students I meet. I'm still in Block 1 till Dec. 8th. Block 2 starts on the 12th of Dec
  8. Het how are you? classes are going o_O lol how about core?
  9. Hey guys Hope all is well!!! how was orientation? When is you start date??
  10. Hmmc4 Yes I sent you a private message, still don't see it?? Classes are going very well, we're covering basic critical thinking procedures and concepts. I didn't not have to take core, with them, so I have no info for their core class. But as far as the Nurse Orderly it's very good and the readings are a lot but definitely doable if you work 20hrs or less. The book and review book for Nurse Orderly are 978-1-4160-5228-9 & 978-1-4160-6234-9. I bought mine at http://www.half.com it's ebay affiliated. Can't help with the financial aid process srry ;-( Uniforms are purple, no ugly collar, scrub set I have no idea of how the day grp professors are So far, so good!! Idk what else to add, but anymore ???'s let me kno. I will try my best to reply in a timely manner :-)
  11. @Hmmc4, oh and yes for a watch and usb drive @julcha I don't have a study guide for Teas V, sorry
  12. No problem at all Hmmc4 I sent you a message btw. The scrubs are cuter than the white and teal, in my opinion lol. No ugly collar. I'm not really pressured just yet with work and school. but that can all change next block lol.
  13. Hey Hmmc4, Yes I've been to the bookstore, haven't purchase any books yet though lol/smh! But I will soon. Classes start tomorrow but from what i was told is that they are a little behind (still teaching core), which is fine by me because it gives me plenty of time to buy my books. I did however purchase my scrub set and shoes from payless. For the stethoscope, the rep at the bookstore said that nobody has really purchased it yet because it mainly used during block b. If you head to the bookstore there is a list of "suggested supplies". If your not able to make it, let me know and i will take a pic for you and send it to you by email or so. I read your post the minute you posted it, and i was trying my darn-est to figure out how to attach a document to a reply (because it does give me an option) but I just cant seem to post the books that they ask for. lol srry! Anywhoo let me know and I most def will not take to long to send you the info
  14. Hmmc4, So its required for the Nov. students to complete BLS before entering the program? Strangeee since the tuition includes BLS class/course, idk! I hope they reduce it, for the sake of the self pay students. LOL, yes im an advocate for self paying students cause it sure isnt easy for me lolol. Well here are the INITIAL CPR/BLS referrals. -Nursingunlimited.com $90.00 -Broward College-$94.83 -browardcpr.net-$26.00 (954)721-1992 -TEAMhealth Institute-$40.00 (954)377-2946 -EMS Academy-$50.00 (grps of 10+) 954-577-0577
  15. BTW Hmmc4 at orientation they gave us a list of place where you can have your BLS done, much much cheaper than many places. I think I saw one for $20.00 for 1st timers. IDK if it was a grp rate or not its done at a fire-station. I did mine for 85$ smdhh. Anywhoo let me know if you are interested, I can post it for you
  16. :ancong!: to the both of you!!! I didnt have to do the core, did it a few yrs ago and just need a refresher! So, my start date is Sept. 13 :yeah: Srry I can't help re:financial aid because im not eligible :crying2: Haven't even begin the process of buying supplies, bookstore closes wayyyy to early for me but I did get to register today I'm trying to purchase used books for block one, so if you know anyone selling let me know pretty plseeee AGAIN :ancong!::ancong!::ancong!::anpom::anpom::anpom::dancgrp::dncgcpd::dncgbby::monkeydance::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::w00t::w00t:
  17. @Hmmc4 - For the cpr she mentioned that, soon, it will be required before you are admitted into the program. But for now it is still apart of the first 3wks of class. I'm trying to avoid the first 3wks and, instead, start around Sept. 15 @Chris954 - I'm EXTREMELY nervous as well. But I'd rather try and fail than not try at all! And I REALLY need this and move on to a RN/BSN so that I can shut some peoples mouth!! I have faith that I will pass to move on...
  18. Great that this thread is picking up!! Good luck to all future nurses...!!! I was also at orientation. The second person, last row by the windows. Im trying to get my Cores out of the way before Aug 22, because I have my cpr already and really would like to reduce my balance since im not eligible for financial aid and I work :-( . So, if you future nurses have any idea where I can get cores done w/o paying an arm and a leg plse help!! Thnx in advance. Hi HMMC4, Hope all is well! Well orientation really was not what I expected, idk maybe I'm just so nervous but excited at the same time. I felt that they really didn't say much. Little emphasis on books, supplies, etc. The one thing was uniform. The uniforms are different, looks more like a basic scrub attire and its purple!! I kinda like it because it has no collar and looks more like a nursing scrub none of that bell-bottom look I've seen the students wear; lol if that makes sense. And we have to wear all white shoes that are "leather" or "like-leather". I would have appreciated if they gave us like a list of supplies/books to have and/or where we can purchase shoes/supplies. Do we need our own stethoscope...idk felt like we were left in the dark. lol but whatever I will just have to asked questions and read other posts on this website. They also spoke abt the usual like policies and procedure, attendance, affiliated clinical sites etc etc..lol I will posts more updates as the program begins :-)
  19. Quickie! What are the required score for the HESI A2? I remember at one point I read that it had to be an overall 75%. But now, I'm reading that there are NO required score and that they (BC Nursing Dept., I guess) just reviews it. Plse help, I received a 73% my first time :smackingf and plan on retaking 2 out of the 5 sections before the next application date Thnx in advance for your help
  20. Hi! I am also in a similar situation. I have a BSW, Social work for about 2 yrs and really considering on relocating from Miami to Boston. I don't have the funds nor time to complete a accelerated Nursing program. I know I will be charged out-of-states tuition but the beats wrking here in Miami where abt 90% of the population are trying to become nurses (don't qoute me on that :uhoh21: ) I have many family in Brockton so I have no problem for housing and transportation. Anywhoo, I would also appreciate any information from past/present/transitional students from Quincy College. Thnx a Bunch in advance Stace
  21. Hey Hmmc4, Hope your having an awesome 4th of July celebration! I called and got some GREAT news:yeah: !!! When I asked when they were sending the letters out, the rep stated that they had already sent out the first batch around June 18th. She looked up my name and said that a letter was also sent to me . I wasn't too shocked because we dont often chk the mail. In fact, we spend the whole week not collecting the mail smdh. We just get to many badd news throught the mail, BILLS ughh. lol. Anywhooo I received my letter and have to be at a mandatory orientation on Aug 5th and registration begins on the 8th. In the letter it also tells you the missing documents that you must bring at orientation. They give you your acceptance letter at orientation. Im so EXCITEDDD ... Can't wait for you to get your letter! If you want I can update you on all the info from registration and orientation to give you a heads up. September is right around the corner. Once your there, we can share notes and books, I'm SOOOOO EXCITED...!!!! LPN than RN for me. The baby will be in kindergarten, so s/he will understand when mommy is doing H/W :) 3 young ones?!? I have to tip my hat off to you. If you can raise 3 babies im sure you will do great at McFatter. :yeah::yeah:I will keep you updated :yeah:
  22. Hi sunNY718! How is the program so far??
  23. Yes the evening starts in August. Yeah I was told the same thing abt the evening program, that it was easier to get in to rather than the day classes. When I turned in my packet, I was put on the waiting list . Im going to call tomorrow morning to find out exactly where I am and will let you know, thnks. Last week I also applied to their sister school Sheridan Tech. Sheridan has a mandatory orientation every Monday at 8am. I just brought all the paper wrk I turned in for Mcfatter and was put right on their waiting list as well , the 7th person on the waiting list to be exact. Sheridan accepts abt 43 students and classes are Mon-Thurs 7:14-3:30. Im so anxious and nervous at the same time, I'm ready to find out already lol We should begin to get letters by mid July. I will call 2mrrw and let you know. I need all the prayer possible thnk you! Praying for you as well... and since you have all your paperwork you should turn it in for Sheridan too, you never know. Their applicant pool is bigger, IDK..lol im just all over the place
  24. Hi HMMC4, I applied for the evening courses. I heard they are sending out acceptance letters around July 15. Good luck to us!!
