Nursing school advice
Hi congrats on starting, I just finished my 1 st year :) , the best advice I can give, is do the reading and DON'T get behind. I also found that learning it as opposed to memorizing things really helped, it brings it all together Good luck Denise I'm starting my accelerated nursing program in July. I'm really excited but I'm also REALLY nervous. Any advice about what I can expect, what I can do to prepare myself, what supplies may be beneficial, etc. Any thoughts or comments would be very much appreciated! :flowersfo

CNA state board
Hi Jenn I am currently in Nursing 2 and just got a job at a hospital as a nurse's aide, I am sure the hosptial or nursing home you work at will train you. I have learned taht being honest in what I have done has worked best, I tell the other aides, nurses, whoever, I have never done "whatever" and so far they have all been REALLY helpful. Good luck to you Denise

Thnanks, and I guess all I got wrong were the diagrams, I got a 90 on my test which comes out to 7 wrong, I KNOW I got 7 wrong on the diagrams:) I am still doubting my ability to do this, but this grade will help me go on. I hope to one day be a regular on this board, and thanks for all the support it means SO MUCH Denise

Discouraged, opinions please
Hi all I am a second semester nursing student, I just finished my 5 week maternity rotaion and LOVED it, got tons of compliments from nurses at the hospital, told by my instructor that I have unlimited potential in this field, she says it seems to be my nitch so here is my problem. We took our Maternity test today and had 10 diagrams(in addition to 65 multiple choice questions) to label and I did HORRIBLE to the point my teacher told me that "she is disappointed in me, due to having such high expectations from me" I have not gotten my grade for the full test she just briefely looked at the diagrams. I am now completely discouraged that maybe maternity is not right for me. I am an excellent student and can hold my own in clinical(I am starting as a nurses aid this Sat to help with my clinical skills on a med/surg floor) but now I am doubting my ability to be a nurse especially an OB nurse, I feel like if I cant do well in a rotation thatt is my passion how can I be a good nurse. any opinions? thanks so much Denise

Question from Nursing 2 Student
Hi I have been reading for a while now, I have a question for all the grads. I am in Nursing 2 now, we have 3 5 week rotations, I am doing L&D now and LOVE it, I do great with the moms, babies, etc. but once I get to post conference and our teachers asks questions such as "how can a woman in labor get 1000ml of LR within 30-45 minutes" my only thought was thru IV, the answer was since she has good cardiac output she can handle a large load easily, b/c if she was 80 she would wind up with pulmonary edema. I am so concerned that I cant think like a nurse, I am not sure if we should know EVERYTHING, or that I dont know anything. I have Wonderful grades, but its times like post conference I doubt my ability to be a nurse. Any advice? Denise
