  1. I just moved to Va Beach and aiming for the RN program. Would love to chat some time!
  2. MCI Va Beach extended their med surg course another month to make it more in depth, which now makes their RN program 16 months long, not including any prerequisites you may need (computer applications, algebra, and/or chemistry). I start the algebra class March 1st, and I am pretty nervous! I hear so many mixed reviews about the course load being too much for someone who is working, but how else can I support myself? Good luck everyone!
  3. Hourly rates depend on the location and the type of hiring institution (hospitals end up paying more compared with physician offices, especially with the option for acquiring over time). Traveling nursing agencies also tend to pay well. Example: Tampa General has a starting pay of $23 to $25 an hour depending on whether or not you have an ADN or BSN degree. Note, the cost of living is much higher in Tampa compared with Greenville, SC -- where their reported starting RN pay is $21/hr.
  4. I think someone told me Sociology was one of the classes as well. I have taken Psychology, Sociology, Computers, and English 1. I hope they accept my credits! I would love to talk with someone who is in the RN program now at VBEACH!
  5. My name is Shaunelle and I am looking into the RN program at MCI in Virginia Beach. I recently passed my TEAS exam this week with fairly low math and science scores, and was under the impression that as long as you passed you'd be in the clear? After reading some posts, it seems like that may not be the case at all. And considering I would be relocating from Florida, this is making me second guess myself entirely. Nonetheless, I going for my first interview next week to see how things go. The admissions counselor also says there is housing available that can be incorporated into your loan, which can really help out students who do not opt to work full time to cover living expenses. I wish everyone luck with their route to becoming an RN! Would love to chat with any current MCI-RN students near Virginia Beach! Shaunelle-
