CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
lol NaCl, I actually did get in. However, I have not yet accepted the offer because I am still weighing my options. Good try making completely baseless assumptions about me though.

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
^^ Is there reputation all that great? I have heard mixed opinions. Anyway, maybe I had the misfortune of talking to them when they were having a bad day, but it is no excuse. We're the ones paying their bills, it is their job to be professional at all times.

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
This nursing program seems extremely disorganized and most of the staff I have encountered so far have been quite impatient and rude.

CSULB Fall 2013 BSN
Got a quick question for you guys. Were you drug tested at all? If so, at what stage were you tested? Also, was it the university or clinical site or university that conducted the test?

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
What alternate number are you Dattman?

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
This blows! My 10 point score is on the lower side and I was hoping my charisma during the interview process would push me over. However, if this late cancellation is any reflection on their nursing departments volatility and organization, not getting accepted may be blessing in disguise.

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
Yeah, I should have taken it earlier. The reason I didn't is because many schools only accept your first score, and I didn't want to put all my eggs in one basket. From what I have read in this thread: https://allnurses.com/california-state-nursing/csulb-fall-2013-a-809223-page21.html the estimated cut off for Fall 2013 was 9.15. For my sake, hopefully the overall quality of students applying for fall 2014 will be lower :)

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
I took my teas today and didn't do quite as well as I hoped. My 10 point score is 8.973. I have by far the worst score out of the people in this thread which worries me. Does anyone know what score has been their cut off in the past?

CSULB Nursing - Spring 2014
Thanks for the response Tnguyen1925. Yes I am also applying for the spring 2014 semester; However, I have yet to take the TEAS test. I plan on taking it early this week. I believe the success of my application will largely depend on how I do on the TEAS.

How is One to Make it as a Nursing Student and Parent

When you don't perform to your potential in an exam..
My physiology exams are mostly short answer and essay questions. He does have some multiple choice but they are multiple-multiple choice, as in there may be one correct answer or there may be three correct answers per questions and theres no partial credit. It makes it a bit harder but still do able. Anyway, the biggest thing I know I missed was a Nernst equation question. For reasons unknown I used the Na+ concentrations for for K+. Anyway, I worked out that I will still be getting an A even if I get 85 or so on the exam. I just hate not having that buffer. It puts the pressure on for the next exam.

ouch my brain hurts lol
That is a lot to take in one semester. Do you not have any other responsibilities?

When you don't perform to your potential in an exam..
So I took a physiology exam today and soon after I handed it in it hit me that I answered some questions wrong. I studied my ass off for the exam and there is no reason I should have missed those questions. I'll still probably get a mid to high B in it but that feeling of not performing to my full potential really eats at me. Also, the professor always takes a week and a half minimum to grade exams and during that time I can't stop obsessing over what I may have gotten wrong. Do many of you guys and girls experience exams this?

May have failed an Anatomy exam (unreasonably hard Professor)
I talked to one of the teacher aids today and she told me that the only reason that he tested that way is because he was too lazy to get out the cats, sheep brains, cow hearts and eyes etc..

May have failed an Anatomy exam (unreasonably hard Professor)
Thanks for being understanding of my situation everyone. I won't be getting my test results back until next week. It has been a painful wait but I'm doing my best to keep my mind off of it. I don't think there is any point going to the department head because he has been teaching there for fifteen years and from what I have heard his testing methods haven't changed. We do have one more exam and if I do well in it a B should still be obtainable but I hear his final is the hardest of the lot. I have gone into every exam so far feeling that I have done everything in my power to prepare but it seems like no matter how well I know the content there are still many questions that stump me. I'll reassess things when I know my result but regardless of how poorly I did, I am not going to give up trying.

Anyone have an instructor that was TOO EASY?
I had a psychology class that was really easy because he offered way too much extra credit. He offered around 15% extra credit if we took part in his other class's student's research correlation studies. On top of this he gave us an extra 30 points worth of extra credit opportunities every exam. Despite of all the extra credit available, I still studied hard because I found the subject very interesting but at the end of the semester when I realized I was nearing 150% I slacked off and didn't complete two essay assignments that were worth 5% each.

May have failed an Anatomy exam (unreasonably hard Professor)
Yep, my lecture exams are also difficult with the same sort of questions you describe. Mine also includes comprehensive essay questions where he will deduct points if we slightly misspell a term. At the end of the day the grade on our transcripts is all the powers that be will focus on. It's frustrating to know that individuals who are able to be selective with who they take their classes with have will have an advantage over me on their nursing school applications.

May have failed an Anatomy exam (unreasonably hard Professor)
aside from his unnecessarily hard exams he is a good professor. i have retained much of what i have learned thus far and i do appreciate him for that, but i do not feel that is fair that i can go into the exam confident that i know all the content but still don't perform well on his exams due to the unusual format. i no longer have the option to drop because the drop with a 'w' date has expired. i understand that i need to know this content well, and i do know it. place a bone or an organ in front of me and i will be able to describe to you all of it's features and functions in detail. i am not going to come across patients with plants and sandwiches inside of them instead of the normal viscera. i am fine with him including some of these critical thinking questions because that can separate the a+ students from the a and b+ students, but i do feel that we should be tested mostly in the same format that was used to teach us the material. i know for a fact that i would be getting a very high grade with most other professors because i have seen their tests. my brother took anatomy at a prestigious university and has expressed to me that his exams were not near this difficult.
