  1. I wish I would've seen your thread earlier. I interviewed w/ Baker and have been admitted for Spring '07. The interview was really very basic, very low-key, which really balanced my anxiety. I'm sure by this point you've had your interview, but just in case. Wear a suit, period. Interviewees are to look upon it as a business interview. I could not believe the amount of girls who showed up wearing (can you believe it) khakis!! A couple even had tops that needed constant pulling as they were darn close to belly shirts. They give you an agenda for the afternoon. Everyone is split into two groups and of those groups each individual has their own timeslot in which to be interviewed. Mine were dressed very casually, which I thought odd. Although, this probably helped me feel more relaxed if not overdressed! Anyway, the questions are really very basic. Nothing you will need to study up on since the answers are all about you. For example, if you're interested in nursing, you know why the interest is there. All in all, I was quite comfortable. Very organized and thought-out.
  2. It didn't look like it was added with a clip. The Post-It Notes were on a blue plastic base, though. So maybe the base was attached to the lanyard somehow. It would still be a great thing to have. I'm not having much luck, though.
  3. Does anyone know where I can get a lanyard that holds Post-It Notes? I saw one in a picture and it looked like the lanyard was made to specifically hold them. I have looked on most of the common sites (Lydiasuniforms.com, allheart.com, etc.) and have had no luck. Let me know if you have any ideas because they sure look handy. Thanks!
  4. Yeah, and it's called "cannibalism"!! :barf02:
  5. My sister-in-law attended Baker (class of '96) and even then (before the shortage), she had to wait two semesters. She's now been an RN for 8 years. I can handle having to wait 2-3 semesters. The students and faculty said that is about the average for someone who's been wait-listed. Just keep your grades as high as you possibly can -- then if you're wait-listed it will be a matter of space as opposed to a low GPA. They have their open-houses about once per semester. I fully plan on going each and every time to keep my motivation going (yunno, my "mental connection" with the school) and to continue talking to the students, as they will have different "ambassadors" each time. If you didn't get an invitation this time, call them and ask that you be put on the mailing list because you would like to attend. Honestly, it was really fantastic. I had a bounce in my step all day!
  6. I went to Baker's open house on Thursday. I asked not only the faculty, but the students also, the question of how long they had heard of someone having to wait. They said only a couple of semesters (provided they had the grades and did well in the interview). The faculty also said that this spring's class (they admit NO MORE than 40 as they like to keep the ratio intimate) already had over 120 applicants. Plus, (I found this really informative) this fall's class average GPA was 3.57. I with you. Baker has been my dream for a long time. I can't bear to think of attending elsewhere.
  7. I'm getting close to completing my prereqs and I know that getting into my first choice school (Baker U.)is next to impossible (they accept roughly 30-45 out of, say, 500). I am going to apply to my second and third choices (KU and WU) and their statistics are about the same. I am curious as to how long all of you had to wait before being accepted to your schools. I thought it a good idea to put my pursuit of nursing on hold until I had my children and now I think that was a mistake (the waiting, not the children:chuckle ) given the difficulty in getting into a program due to the massive amount of people wanting in also. I know that it is absolutely imperative to get top marks. I also know that people who have a 3.75 are being wait-listed and may not even get in because there are always students the following year w/ a better GPA. Due to the sheer numbers of applicants, what's the longest you've heard of someone having to wait it out?

  9. It doesn't look like anyone has posted on this since May, but here is my two-cents anyway! I am working full-time during my pre-reqs, than I will work part-time when I am in nursing school (or I will quit altogether).
