NCLEX-RN results in CA, is it true?
I got my results yesterday, and so did the majority of my class (all but 2). I passed yeah!!! I got to put RN behind my name for the first time today at work. The NCLEX results are transmitted immediately from Pearson Vue to the BON. What takes time is the following: 1) Transcripts getting from your college to the BON. 2) Processing time at the BON. Also, they only post results Tuesday - Saturday mornings (in mass), so don't bother wasting your time checking throughout the day or on Sunday/Monday. Good luck!!!:)

NCLEX-RN results in CA, is it true?
You have to wait 45 days to retest in CA. I just graduated from Sierra College (in Rocklin, CA) on May 11, 2006. I took the NCLEX May 30th - STILL no result. Several of my classmates took their test on May 18, 19, 20th ---- STILL no results. The waiting is AWFUL, but at least we are all going crazy together. :crash_com

Question about Pearson & NCLEX appt
You don't have to pay if you rescheduled 24+ hours before the actual time of your test (i.e. original test 9:00 am Saturday = rescheduled by 8:59 am Friday = no reschedule fee).

Can you be an OB RN with an Assoc. Degree?
I just graduated (pinning ceremony) yesterday with my ADN. I was hired 2 1/2 months ago as an OB nurse. I am also planning on getting my BSN, but I didn't NEED it to work in OB.

Once again about starting an IV
How much pressure to apply - that's a tough question to answer online! Not TOO much, but enough and at the right spot (about 1/2 cm above the insertion site). If blood is still coming out - try moving further away from the insertion site. You will get the feel for it after a while (of where to put pressure and how much).

Once again about starting an IV
Try this: Your left hand (whichever finger you prefer) should be both applying pressure to the vein (which will keep it from bleeding) and holding the catheter in place (the plastic thing). While you are holding that in place, you have all the time you need (within reason) to connect your infusion, which should already be all set up and ready to go. Hope this is helpful!

Nursing shortage! Nursing program waiting lists!
Try applying at Sierra College. I am currently in my 2nd semester and I live in Sacramento (Natomas area). The drive is quick, the parking is great, I love the program, and I got accepted on the first try! It's a smaller program located off of the main campus. Give it a try! Good luck!

Sierra College Students
Hey...congratulations on finishing nursing school. How exciting for you. Ahhh....to be done with school! How did you like the program and instructors at Sierra? Was it well organized? What hospitals do you do your clinical rotations at? I only have about 10 million questions, but I won't bother you with all of them...it would make for a REALLY long e-mail. Good luck on your NCLEX exam! I am sure you will do great...seems like everyone from Sierra passes. :)

Sierra College Students
Hi, I am GOING to be a Sierra College nursing student. I begin on August 23, 2004. I was actually looking to see if I could find any other students that will be starting at the same time as I am. I have never attended Sierra before. I completed my prerequisites at several other colleges. I took Chemistry last summer, it was a tough class, but very interesting. Then I decided I would take Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology in the spring. That was a VERY difficult semester! But it paid off. I got accepted the first semester I applied! I hear about people having to wait for SO long! Good luck with your studies. I would be happy to fill you in on how the program progresses if you are interested (once I know whats going on!) Alisha
