I have a 10 yr old as well, and also a 7 yr old. One of my biggest concerns about nursing school is their well-being and trying not to make them feel neglected!

Our first day of class is Aug 30th. I'm excited as well as anxious! I wish I knew more about what to expect??? I really don't know much about what I'm in for. ANY advice?

I actually took the HESI two yrs ago, but I don't imagine it has changed much since. I just brushed up on my basic math, such as fractions and conversions. If you have avg reading comprehension skills, you will have no problem there. It was not a bad test at all. I remember thinking that it was much easier than I had expected when I had finished it. Just review your basic math and you'll do just fine. I say review, but if you have had math recently, you'll be fine. I hadn't taken any sort of math since 1996, so I was definitely in need of review...so I just googled some math help websites (which I don't remember now)...and it worked! Good luck!

Hi All, I am beginning nursing program end of August. I really don't know what to expect as far as study time when start program (as I've heard it's nothing like the pre-reqs.) How many hours per day would you say that you should study? I'm thinking that when kids (I have 2...They're 7 &10) get home frm school, we can do their homework and I'll try and study a little at the same time. This will probably last about an hour, then take a 3 hour break and include dinner during this break. Then I'll have from appx 8 until 12 to study. Does this sound acurate to any of you current nursing students or new nurses? Thanks so much! Also, ANY advice or info would be MUCH appreciated in regard to school/family balance. I'm really anxious about this.

:uhoh3:That's not very encouraging, is it? It's too late, didn't apply anywhere else. I was contacted to do surg tech program at Chatt State as well...maybe I should go that route???

I was accepted to CSCC Fall 2011 program. Why is Chatt State better? Why did you hate Cleveland State? Would love to know what to expect..good, bad, etc....?

Good to know there are some CSCC 2011 nursing students that will attending with me. I still don't know exactly what to expect...Don't really know any recent nursing students or grads from there. Do any of you guys have any info? I admit I'm a bit nervous about it...

So funny that other ppl mentally correct grammer when spoken to the way that I do...I love it! "Orientate" has always bothered me as well. I feel ya on this.

I just discovered this website, and have read some informative things so far. I will be attending Cleveland State CC Fall 2011, where I'll begin the RN program. Any fellow students or CSCC alumni RNs w/advice?
