  1. Thanks you guys! Yeah, this girl only has an assosicates in psychology. She claims she is going to school to become a psychologist and that they're training her to do IVs for the "patients that overdose". I really think she's just inflating her ego. I told my friends to ask her about dosage calc and she was clueless...I hope she is only lying too. She has a long history of doing so. I just worried about the potential patients, but my friends is going to get to the bottom of it. Thanks guys!
  2. Thanks to everyone who responded! I hope she's just lying and not doing what she's claiming. That would be a disaster!
  3. Do you think there is a need to report her or am I overreacting? She has no background what-so-ever on what she's doing.
  4. No, I completely understand the difference. I just completed my 1st level of nursing school, so I do understand that perspective. My problem is the fact that this person claims that she is going to school to get her psychology degree and that she is required to start IVs as a pshychologist, which is not true. She claims that on her first day ( still only having an associate in psychology) that a nurse let her start an IV on her. Everyone I have talked to has told me that a psychologist, even in their training have no need to learn to start an IV. My worry is that she is confusing her training with that of a potential psychiatrist. She doesn't have any knowledge or schooling on dosage calc, etc, so it is confusing as to why she is learning IVs if she's only going to be a psychologist. On top of all that, she cheated her way through an online course to get that assosicate in psychology.
  5. Wow , see that's what I was telling my friend because I just finished my 1st level clinical and I haven't even started an IV yet. This girl is claiming she stuck someone today though which is crazy! Thanks !! I knew it didn't sound right!
  6. So, I have a random question.... I have a friend and her cousin is claiming that she is learning to give IVs when she only has an associates degree in psychology, not psychiatry. I was in shock because psychologists even in training don't give IVs, correct ? She said it was her first day and that a "nurse" let her practice starting an IV. I was speechless. I was worried for any potential patients because I had my friend ask her if she knew anything about drug calc or drop factors, etc and her cousin answered " Oh, yeah I think they mentioned something like that." Am I losing my mind or is this insane ? I don't like calling anyone a liar, but it seems very fishy to me...Any input is appreciated because I don't think this girl has any business around patients period. It seems to me that she is either lying, but what is scarier is the fact that she admitted that she has cheated her way through her online degree and now she is in some sort of program to be a psychologist, while allegedly starting IVs!
  7. Congrats to you all! I passed my first level too as of Dec 13th !!

  9. Wow, I was in shock by what all I read here today. Curious 88, people are not here to judge you, but to educate you. I am only 24 years old and still young, but I am very eager to learn from people who have more wisdom and knowledge than me, and who are where I hope to be when I am their age. I just completed 1st level clinical, and there will always be stuff that you don't want to do( like wiping butts), but it's part of a nurse's job to take care of their patients. It's not all about wiping butts, my dear. If you have this attitude then you may want to go into a different field completely because honestly if you want to be a nurse bad enough, you will get over having to wipe butts. This year was all about crital thinking skills and learning how to interact and bond with our patients. It was an awesome experience. I am presonally very grateful to be where I am today. I cannot wait to graduate and become a registered nurse because it will be the best thing I have ever accomplished. It's an honor to have the title registered nurse. All the people here are trying to give you a reality check and are not being mean one bit. They are preparing you because if you don't like what the job entails then maybe it's not for you and that's okay, but don't try and tell people with more years of experience(possibly more years than you've been alive) what nursing involves. And yes, several of your comments did sound snotty and like you were too good to wipe your patient's rear. I can assure you that people here are not insecure about their title as "R.N." It did personally irritate me to read such arrogance in a 19 year old with no experince what-so-ever to come on here and "speak" as if we are beneath you. But, hey this is all my opinion too. You will be so lucky to even get accepted into any nursing program with your attitude. Just sayin'. Sorry y'all had to rant!
