Nursing has so many different options should I pursue this career
nursing has so many different options it's great! I was thinking about pursuing this career as a way to open door to many opportunities. however in the long run and my goal career wise I'm not really interested in bedside nursing. I mean I'll do it for the experience and to pay my dues. [but I'm really more interested in being like a public health nurse, school nurse, clinical nurse specialist, certified legal consultant nurse, nurse practitioner, peds nurse, . I think Icould make a difference through this career but overall goal is these options . Another one is home health. I don't think I want to work in a hospital more than I have to for experience. I don't think it's my niche. Should I go to nursing school

Unhappy and Depressed
Nursing has so much variety. And they really make a difference in the world. I am planning to go nursing school. One of the main reason for choosing this career the variety, job stability, and i like healthcare My question is overall goal for nursing is not to be a Registered Nuse... I am more interested in venues such as public health nurse , nurse practitioner, radiology nurse... I mean I will be a registered nurse for a few years for the experience and to pay my dues but my overall goal is more interested in the many other venues. So my motivation for nursing school is okay one day I will be a clinical nurse specialist... Is that okay to go to nursing school for the opportunities of nursing beside RN

Plan to become nurse practitioner any advice
urghhhh I really was not going to give a reply back but Shannon I don't think I'm "too good" for anything. And I really want to get that out there! I've baby sat kids and therefore did diapers and everything however with that said ... I'm just thinking that this career might not be right for my personality similar to how you might like doing accounting, or writing papers. It's just personality... Also I hope I didn't offend anyone because that was not my intention. I'm going to job shadow a RN, and NP. But because I was wanted for information before hand I came on this website. Most of the responses were quite disturbing. Maybe I was trying have something validated for me when it just wasn't for me consider the following article which what it says about bedside nursing Bedside nursing is "hard" and therefore undesirable â€" Crit Care Nurse One of the lines was "Furthermore, I would never advise my children to become nurses, unless they get a master's or doctoral degree." the author is a RN btw When you read thing like that that why is it so bad that my goal was for a masters in nursing but now I think I get the point If nursing the beginning stages and the very basis of it is not for me then the advance levels will not be either! I think I was just trying to address my concerns but it was interpreted disrespectfully. PA seems much more for me and other careers that I'm considering Maybe MD is the way to go for me or optometry. btw to the person I said I have to go to charm school, then so half the people who replied so far my perception is not a good one way to go in representing nurses positively! I want to thank the following users cranberry muffin, core0, BCgradnurse(you're awesome and obviously secure with yourself), noahsmama!!!! you guys are great... thank you so much for your responses and I would love to hear more from you guys only but I think the best way will be job shadowing. I already have appointments for next week... I just want to apologize to all those tho interpreted my comments negatively... I do not think less of any profession It's just what's right for me... My mother is a doctor a psychairst to be a exact and my uncle once told her he does not beleive in psychiatry could not do her field my mother is secure in her field and laughed! she is helping tons of people, has financial security and loves her job. She did not get defensive To those who got so defensive it just makes me feel like you're insecure! It's just different stuff for different people And what is the right fit some people love accounting where others think it is so boring... some can't stand the sight of blood ... while think the human body is so cool (I for one is amazed that the human body mechanics and the complexities of it) so people are touchy feeling, while others are emotionally numb If nursing is right for you I'm happy and did not think less of it... The question is would this career work for me I'll find out after I job shadow

Okay this is my last response thank you so much for the people who gave informative answers like cranberry muffin but the rest of you really what kind of perception are you leaving about nursing to the youth not a good one

Plan to become nurse practitioner any advice
I respect RN but I'm not sure if it's for me... I think I'm leaning much more towards PAs if nurses are like this I am also not talking about cruising I'm talking about what the right fit for me is
-
Plan to become nurse practitioner any advice
Yes I do! And that's okay I'm young, ambitious, and I believe in myself

That is a ridiculous claim. People write research paper by researching. You don't have to be a nurse to know something about it ... And "I've read somewhere" REMEMBER those words are powerful reading is powerful tool. Much of our learning is done by reading. Moreover I've read somewhere ... It means it words from other people So I'm talking about their experience If RN is so you that's great! Two of my friends want to be RN but if it 's not for me why do people get defensive

I'm 19 so I'm still becoming an Adult. I wouldn't expect someone older to understand that. As for not speaking with proper grammar I'm in a rush and giving quick responses ... this by no standard is a reflection of my intelligence no offense but a lot of the people here got so defensive That gets me worried but me that just proves you guys are insecure Secure, confident people about their jobs do not get defensive
