  1. i can't such specific on websites are there more exams or papers?
  2. thanks but bcgradnurse and getting2bsn2msn what type of papers and after high school for alll further education you have to be a self starter np school isn't special in that
  3. what do you learn? What type of work do you do? Papers, projects, exams please go in detail exactly what exactly you do in the paper, projects, etc another thing what do you learn exactly ... what exactly are your classes and what do you learn in each one how challenging would you say it is etc please please this would really help me out do you write a thesis or can you do an exam instead do you feel like your education prepared your current job as a np
  4. People say you should walk before you crawl in terms on being a np, but why are there direct programs. Isn't it because so people like the idea of np but not rn
  5. nursing has so many different options it's great! I was thinking about pursuing this career as a way to open door to many opportunities. however in the long run and my goal career wise I'm not really interested in bedside nursing. I mean I'll do it for the experience and to pay my dues. [but I'm really more interested in being like a public health nurse, school nurse, clinical nurse specialist, certified legal consultant nurse, nurse practitioner, peds nurse, . I think Icould make a difference through this career but overall goal is these options . Another one is home health. I don't think I want to work in a hospital more than I have to for experience. I don't think it's my niche. Should I go to nursing school
  6. Nursing has so much variety. And they really make a difference in the world. I am planning to go nursing school. One of the main reason for choosing this career the variety, job stability, and i like healthcare My question is overall goal for nursing is not to be a Registered Nuse... I am more interested in venues such as public health nurse , nurse practitioner, radiology nurse... I mean I will be a registered nurse for a few years for the experience and to pay my dues but my overall goal is more interested in the many other venues. So my motivation for nursing school is okay one day I will be a clinical nurse specialist... Is that okay to go to nursing school for the opportunities of nursing beside RN

  8. I here for information not for people to tell me I have an attitude or anything
  9. thank you for your nice response why can't everyone talk like this don't you think it would be a better representation
  10. urghhhh I really was not going to give a reply back but Shannon I don't think I'm "too good" for anything. And I really want to get that out there! I've baby sat kids and therefore did diapers and everything however with that said ... I'm just thinking that this career might not be right for my personality similar to how you might like doing accounting, or writing papers. It's just personality... Also I hope I didn't offend anyone because that was not my intention. I'm going to job shadow a RN, and NP. But because I was wanted for information before hand I came on this website. Most of the responses were quite disturbing. Maybe I was trying have something validated for me when it just wasn't for me consider the following article which what it says about bedside nursing Bedside nursing is "hard" and therefore undesirable â€" Crit Care Nurse One of the lines was "Furthermore, I would never advise my children to become nurses, unless they get a master's or doctoral degree." the author is a RN btw When you read thing like that that why is it so bad that my goal was for a masters in nursing but now I think I get the point If nursing the beginning stages and the very basis of it is not for me then the advance levels will not be either! I think I was just trying to address my concerns but it was interpreted disrespectfully. PA seems much more for me and other careers that I'm considering Maybe MD is the way to go for me or optometry. btw to the person I said I have to go to charm school, then so half the people who replied so far my perception is not a good one way to go in representing nurses positively! I want to thank the following users cranberry muffin, core0, BCgradnurse(you're awesome and obviously secure with yourself), noahsmama!!!! you guys are great... thank you so much for your responses and I would love to hear more from you guys only but I think the best way will be job shadowing. I already have appointments for next week... I just want to apologize to all those tho interpreted my comments negatively... I do not think less of any profession It's just what's right for me... My mother is a doctor a psychairst to be a exact and my uncle once told her he does not beleive in psychiatry could not do her field my mother is secure in her field and laughed! she is helping tons of people, has financial security and loves her job. She did not get defensive To those who got so defensive it just makes me feel like you're insecure! It's just different stuff for different people And what is the right fit some people love accounting where others think it is so boring... some can't stand the sight of blood ... while think the human body is so cool (I for one is amazed that the human body mechanics and the complexities of it) so people are touchy feeling, while others are emotionally numb If nursing is right for you I'm happy and did not think less of it... The question is would this career work for me I'll find out after I job shadow
  11. Okay this is my last response thank you so much for the people who gave informative answers like cranberry muffin but the rest of you really what kind of perception are you leaving about nursing to the youth not a good one
  12. I respect RN but I'm not sure if it's for me... I think I'm leaning much more towards PAs if nurses are like this I am also not talking about cruising I'm talking about what the right fit for me is
  13. Yes I do! And that's okay I'm young, ambitious, and I believe in myself
  14. That is a ridiculous claim. People write research paper by researching. You don't have to be a nurse to know something about it ... And "I've read somewhere" REMEMBER those words are powerful reading is powerful tool. Much of our learning is done by reading. Moreover I've read somewhere ... It means it words from other people So I'm talking about their experience If RN is so you that's great! Two of my friends want to be RN but if it 's not for me why do people get defensive
  15. I'm 19 so I'm still becoming an Adult. I wouldn't expect someone older to understand that. As for not speaking with proper grammar I'm in a rush and giving quick responses ... this by no standard is a reflection of my intelligence no offense but a lot of the people here got so defensive That gets me worried but me that just proves you guys are insecure Secure, confident people about their jobs do not get defensive
  16. thank you for your respectful reply it makes you seem so much more civil tell me what the importance of bedside nursing?
  17. so you can complain but others cannot display their displeasure for it what don't you tell the importance of bedside nursing and the duties you perform in it i've read somewhere a lot of it is passing pills, cleaning bedpans, wiping butts, putting in ivs, taking vitals is this accurate what else do they do? and if not they seem like pretty basic things nothing where you learn a lot
  18. yeah I don't think you can say that abut MD, DO doctors are the egotistic people out there they do not do the grunt work so get your facts straight what attitude? I 'm telling you what I don't like and what doesn't fit with my personality and no one like wiping someone's ass
  19. omg thank you for your kind answer and for the informative information so I don't have do bedside nursing to be an NP yay that's great! You know I didn't say I wouldn't do bedside nursing but that my that not what I want to do for the majority of my career and really another thing that is scaring is the threads I've been reading that nurses don't get respects and are treated like mules that's terrible! It's not an easy road to become a nurse and nurses are educated people just like other doctors, lawyers, accountants,
  20. ummm the response at the bottom said you can go straight to a np program or with a year or two of rn experience furthermore no rn likes the dirty work of bedside nursing and just on this website alone i've seen plenty of people complain about bedside nursing
  21. can a PA work independently I don't want to wipe people bums or be talked to disrespectfully I thought Np or PA were very similar except NP can work independently if they want to...
  22. umm I'm not talking about taking a shortcut I'm talking about wanting to be NP and putting up with some of the part I don't like to get to it
  23. also doctors put up with residency knowing one day they won't have to do that anymore what's wrong with that? NP has differences if duties to a RN I don't get why that is so wrong if I'm more interested in NP then RN as far what I think the duties are going to be I'm assuming similar to a PA but with with the ability to practice on their own' I've read so many posts about people not liking being a RN so yeah maybe my perception of a NP is inaccurate so why doesn't someone explain to me in detail what a NP does
  24. nurse practitioner might be a registered nurse but they don't have the same duties I love the idea of PA but they don't have the option to work independently like NP this makes me lean towards NP rather than PA
  25. I'm 19 thinking about nursing to be NP not RN so any posts about this any type of advice I'm interested in spending the majority of career being a NP not really interested in RN is that okay? I'm not a fan of the bedside nurisng of RN but I like the idea of what of I've heard of NP is that okay or should I not consider this as a career because I don't want to a Rn or do bedside nursing basically is okay to choose NP without liking the idea of RN
