Army Nurse Corps FY2013
LOL I laugh at your response, all I can say is that Im not the only one who feels this. Until you have walked in my boots you have no room to talk!!! When fellow colleagues say they are embarassed to say they work here, When you lack the Basic things needed to do Basic nursing care there are issues that are wrong. Personally your opinión means nothing to me ive been a parachute rigger in the AF spilled blood in the sand with my fellow soldiers in Iraq as a rank commander and even have a friend who has a másters in Nursing leadership who says Army nursing is a joke!! Maybe its you WHO needs to rexamine yourself, I think so very little of ppl like you who criticize ppl like me who wear the American flag on our shoulder and yet you offer no concrete solutions, to me you are nothing more than part of the problem!!! Bravo two teo out!!!

Army Nurse Corps FY2013
I'm prior service Air Force and Army and currently on my third year of a 5 year ADSO as an AN (1LT). I'm telling you now turn around and go back, Army nursing sucks!!! It's a parallel universe compared to civilian nursing! I was where you were at , except I was in the ANCP program, did BOLC, I mean drunkfest, at Sam Houston. Yep go directly passed GO and Do not collect 200. It's a joke! Its all old school nursing from the 80's, everything from equipment to team nursing, and oh lets not forget the furlough taking affect 16 Jun!! Yep be prepared to work long hours and yea your days off are not your days off!! You have to come in to the hospital and do APEQS training as well as all your other appointments plus mandatoary volunteering into the community and mandatory fun time. Yep welcome to Army nursing suckaaa!!!

If you took Kaplan and then took the NCLEX...
Wow!!! And I thought the drama ended when I graduated from nursing school!!! LOL What a joke!!! There is something to be said workng in an all male combat unit, gee, I hope me going back Active and being an Army CRNA isnt like what I had to deal with all the drama queens in my class or the comments I read in this forum!! Thats ok though, bc i have rank I will most certainly straighten out those who are of the "drama queen" mentality!! There is no place for that on the battle field or in the Army!! Good grief women GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!

Just an FYI for those wondering how to find out what is open for nursing slots and what you can do to make things more favorable to get the duty station you want, or find out your chances of getting what you want, please contact me and I'll walk you through it, its pretty simple. Im prior service AF and Army. Was/is an NCO Gunner and Tank Commander 03-07 2nd Platoon Bravo Co 2-72, got off of active in 07 to come here to UW-Milwaukee to get my 3rd degree. I am 5 months away from graduating with my BSN RN, I already know that my OBLC date is Aug. '11 and I already know my first duty station is Hood. I know the ins and outs of the Army, for me this will be a piece of cake. I suggest for the non-prior service you buddy up and find someone who is prior service bc there is a lot of info you need to know. For me it will be like PLDC, the prior service should be good about helping you out. Im going back in and going the CRNA route. Already spoke to the proper ppl and its all locked up. but yea any one have any questions contact me. I helped someone last year go through everything from start of the application process to her first duty station and allll the stuff in between. And trust me, the recruiter doesnt have your best interest at heart! I personally know a few recruiters and yea the Dark Side is real interesting! Good luck to those going to OBLC at Sham Houston, and no that isn't a misspell lol. Its called Sham Houston for a reason!! lol And always remember NCOs lead the way!! And I may be a nurse and future ArmyCRNA, but will always be a tanker at heart putting steel on target!!
