oblc and army residency program: advice please
the army moves your stuff for you and holds it at fort hood while youre at bolc and then you schedule it to be moved once you find a place. i tried the same thing, i wanted to live in austin and had to dump my apt and move up here because it turns out you have to be here like every day for something... belton isnt as far, but i live right off post and i love not having to commute at all because theres nothing to do in this town anyways.

medical vs nursing informatics?
i am in the process of researching grad school programs for informatics. I am looking specifically at the Univ of Illinois at Chicago distance program. im an army nurse so i cant do the traditional program. they are one of the few online programs out there that are CAHIIM accredited. i think tennessee is about to get accredited as well. i am a new grad nurse in the army, working towards ICU certification. i love icu and i love computers and the idea of informatics. i have past background in project mgmt and i am very computer savvy. my question is how realistic is the job market for introductory level applicants like me when i graduate with this degree? what could i expect to make? how long would it take to "climb the ladder" in this field? any advice is appreciated. also, ive heard medical informatics is more broad and gives you better overall skillsets/knowledge... true? i was also looking at dukes program but that is only nursing informatics and not CAHIIM accredited, and very expensive. thank you!

oblc and army residency program: advice please
No I am from San Diego and love to surf and I wanted anything on the west coast or Hawaii lol but I'm pretty sure it boils down to whatever is available when you are ready to be assigned. I believe if I had waited to go to he July class I would have had my choice but I didn't want to wait... Excited to get going! Good luck with your choices!

oblc and army residency program: advice please
Congrats and best of luck. I had those exact same three choices lol and when I passed boards they simply gave me a choice of 4 duty stations none of which were on my list... Hopefully those assignments will not be full by the time you are ready for assignment. I'm in the march 29 class.

New RN grad wanting advice
i am in the same boat. however i am commissioning into the army for my first 3 years of nursing. but generally speaking, in order to get into a crna program you need a couple years of ICU experience, and most schools will want you to pass the GRE with a fairly high score. best of luck!
