Have you ever felt discriminated against because of your weight?
I said "generally" full well knowing someone with some sort of health issue would come here yelling "but but it's not my fault"

Have you ever felt discriminated against because of your weight?
I'm sure it happens. If you're deciding between to candidates with equal exp, and all other qualifications are equal, would you hire the fit person or fat person? You would prob go with the fit right? Fat people generally have some sort of discipline issue, they have something causing them to be overweight. I'm talking the big big people, like myself, not just 20 lbs overweight. I'm 270, 5'11... Would it suck to be discriminated against? Yes. Do I understand the discrimination? Yep! That's why I'm trying very hard to instill discipline in myself and get rid of my awful habits. Good Luck, Vae Victis

Anatomy 1 and Chem in the same semester?
Hey guys, I'm taking courses at a Community College here in SoCal. I orginaly planned on taking Anatomy over winter session (6 weeks) but decided that even though I probably could earn an A, I felt because of all the cramming that needed to be done over the short semester, I would not be able to remember much after I was done. So, for me not to fall behind a semester, I thinking of taking Anatomy 1 (our school does Anatomy and Physiology as separate courses - as apposed to taking A&P1 and A&P2 - btw, which do you guys think is the best method?) and Chem in the same Spring semester. I aced Algebra when I took it two semesters ago, and I have been reading that Chem involves quite a bit of math, so I hope to do well in Chem. I'm just wondering if it would too difficult to earn A's in both Anatomy and Chem while at the same time taking Sociology and Psychology. My goal for each course is an A, so it maybe it's best if I just take Anatomy and Chem + either Speech, Socio, or Pysch (btw how hard is this psychology? I've no idea). Anyhow I'm ranting now....has anyone had any trouble earning an A in both Anatomy and Chem, taking them at the same time, plus another class or two? Thanks, ladies and gents! :monkeydance:

Can I start over with my grades?
I attended a private DeVry type school for two semesters in 2001. 8 classes, 8 F's. First thing I did when I decided to earn a nursing degree was to talk to the nursing counselor at my school. She told me that my previous grades (would be 10 years later when I apply to the program) would count. She told me "however, don't worry about that right now, just do the best you can, we'll work with you" - based on my calculations I would not meet the 2.5 gpa req to apply to the program if my grades from 10 years ago are averaged in. The counselor also advised me to ask the previous institution for Academic Renewal - which is what someone else already mentioned. I went to the previous school and asked them about it, and they said I couldn't. Luckily they told me the just a few classes transfer over. My point is that really, anything is possible - just be forthcoming, don't lie, if you do you may be worse off. Work your ass off now, make no excuses - work work work work. Good luck.

Nursing and needle pricks
Hey guys. I'm a 27 year old male student just starting my pre reqs for the nursing program. My dream would be to work with children and perhaps become a pediatric nurse. However there is one thing, one hurdle that has me questioning my career path: needle pricks and other forms of contracting an incurable disease while working in healthcare. I've been browsing these forums for months now, and I read about the accidental pricks and the rare occurrence that some contract HIV etc. Has me scared, really scared - and second guessing. Would love to read some thoughts of others regarding this. Thanks a bunch.
