  1. This is the stuff that scares me-its almost like being obese is a crime. I used to smoke, and when they made laws against smoking indoors and knowledge of the dangers of smoking became commonplace, I felt like people would look down on me for it; it feels the same now with my weight.
  2. I haven't been discriminated overtly at work because of my weight, but honestly I think all the attention to obesity and the problems associated with it lately is making me feel like a marked person. Am I being paranoid about this? And I seriously wonder- if I had to compete with a nurse who was more attractive/thinner than I, would they get the job based on looks?
  3. Do you think you've been passed over for a job or not been advanced because you are overweight?
  4. Thanks for your help; I have never actually seen the nurse manager where I am a student (I think she's hidden away in an office somewhere) but I see the charge always. Some charges I've worked with as a student were really available and helpful, others; nowhere to be found:D
  5. Is the nurse manager responsible for direct care for pts, or just the outcomes? Are the nurse managers supposed to be on the floor helping with direct care?
  6. I love that word! it fits certain people like no other word does:D
  7. Handyrn; I am so sorry that happened, situations like that are what discourages good nurses from the profession, hope you doing what you enjoy now:D
  8. yes thank you, your comments were very helpful:o
  9. What is the most frustrating thing that has happened with a physician and how did you handle it?
  10. Hello everyone; I would like to know what you do to organize yourself once you get onto the floor: Do you use a report sheet with shortcuts on it for each pt? do you read the pt chart and labs as well as get report? thanks for your input:p
