wow hang in there it will get better. i'm a brand new nurse still working with my preceptor. i hope that you got a chance to speak with your nursing educator. this experience is for you to learn how to do your job. i'm lucky to have a really great preceptor that i'm working with but sometimes i still feel like she is not clear about her expectations of me. best of luck!

i'm also a brand new nurse. i recently started working on a cardiac intervention unit and i just love it. so far i just go into work with a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. tare a lot of policies and procedure specific to the hospital that i'm not aware of yet so every time i come across something new i stop and find someone to ask. best of luck in your new career.

hello everyone, i'm a brand new rn freshly licensed and just beginning my career on a cardiac intervention unit at a leading cardiac institute. so far i just love my job. i'm an education minded individual, nursing actually being my second bachelor's degree. i have always wanted to peruse graduate school. i really need some advice about my different options in the nursing and related health care fields. i know that i want to spend a few years as a bedside nurse to gain experience at this level before moving on but i do want to start planning for my next step. when it is time for me to take the leap into a graduate program i want to make sure i'm prepared. i would really appreciate any advice about different career paths or suggestions. at this point i just want to keep all of my options open. my sincere thanks in advance!

I was in a similar situation as you, with a bachelor's degree in another field and transitioning into nursing. I looked into a accelerated program but opted for a concurrent ADN-BNS program where I attended a community college and a university at the same time. The cost dramatically less. I'm graduated with my ADN and had only 3 additional classes for my BSN. I had no problem getting a job. I hospital I now work for does pay tuition reimbursement for BSN education so I'm letting them pick up the tab for my last classes. My fellow classmates who were not actively pursuing there BSN have had more of a difficult time in their job search. Good luck with your new career.

I go through the same process that you are describing at my job. I love the idea of having the pharmacist doing the discharge med rec. They would be better equipped to locate any possible problems. I'm a new nurse and I hate that all of the paper work takes away from my patient contact.

At my hospital we do not print out the MAR, we are required to carry a laptop when giving meds and we use the MAR right off the screen. It works out very well.
