  1. Yes! I'm just finished my first month of being an LPN in a LTC facility and I feel like 1/2 of what I do is charting and paperwork...but like they say if you didn't chart it then it didn't happen...
  2. You guys I took the nclex on Thursday and passed!!!! Shout out to the Brooklyn teachers. I guarantee you guys if you study hard and stay out of unnecessary drama you will succeed! Good luck to all of you just starting out on this great journey. :)
  3. I worked a full time job (52 hours a week) while going to LPN school....& I made it through fine. But thank God for working for a small office business. I did homework and assignments while at work. Moved my PC and printer and library in there too. I know not everyone is fortunate enough to have an understanding boss like in my case...but it's not impossible. :) OP's advice is very sound...esp. #3. I saw ppl breakdown & leave the program in the first couple of weeks because they were too sensitive.
  4. Hi ai2011, thanks! I would say, just your basic anatomy & physiology book. The school will provide everything else you need.... :)...and believe it or not utube is a god sent for explaining things you dont understand.
  5. Congrats to all who got accepted into the program! I graduate in 2 days from the brooklyn school and the journey was well worth it! Im always willing to help, so any questions feel free to inbox...
  6. Hands down my iPad; its lightweight, and I've got most of my books on there as pdf's.....I graduate next month from LPN school and my journey would have been harder without it.
  7. I have heard that the study sessions at Goldwater are helpful to alot of people. I have no prior medical experience. None is required for acceptance into this program. I work full time and do this program. Yes it's a stretch, but it's sooo worth it. Im half-way done!
  8. no you don't ai2011... After you pass the CNET and the TABE, you are given an application packet to fill out and on it you can choose which campus you want to attend.
  9. Hey guys! Im currently attending the Brooklyn school. All of the schools wear navy blue scrubs. If you guys have any questions (like I did, this time last year) feel free to ask away!
  10. Congrats Poettree!!! We've gotta keep in touch:yeah:
  11. Thanks NURSEGUY1 for all of your advice and pointers. It is truly appreciated!
  12. When I registered, I was given a uniform voucher for a specific store. The voucher is for 2 uniforms (I'd have to buy extras myself). I actually went by the Manhattan store and they said that they wouldnt be ready for 3 weeks.
  13. Im not sure about loans Poettree. Maybe someone can shed some light on this for you. I've been saving for months in anticipation of being accepted.
  14. Hi Poettree! Im registered and all ready to go for the Brooklyn site. Yes, it is a bit far from Bay Ridge. The Brooklyn school is in the heart of the Bedford Stuyvesant area. If you can mapquest Fulton Street & Nostrand Avenue, the school is about a block or two from there. I'm taking the B44 bus from my house to the school, the A & C trains also run there. Also the B25, 26 52 (if im not mistaken) run there too. Also, I called the uniform store and they said they're not gonna have our scrubs for another 3 weeks.
  15. Theres another anouncement on blackboard...:)
  16. I got mine!!! YaaY:lol2:
  17. Thanks for that insight NURSEGUY1! Still waiting anxiously...
  18. if im not mistaken, last year they had about 40 in each school...
  19. Thanks Nurseguy1...at least now I wont be chronically checking my mail for the time being:coollook:
  20. we're in the 2012 class:)
  21. still waiting....im thinking of calling tomorrow
  22. Congrats Nurseguy1!!! I too am constantly checking my email for my acceptance! I hope you pass the NCLEX on the first try. Could you share with us the courses you took in the first semester? That would be much appreciated...
  23. My best friend has been a CNA (unionised) for about 6 years...she had worked in hospitals as well as nursing homes and she makes $17.00 an hour.
  24. The director told me to look out for an email towards the end of June. Also, she signed me up for a blackboard account, just curious as to if she did that for everyone.
