i read somewhere that the unknown man is a CDC director. Also did he get on the plane too?

if she cared for a ebola patient less than 2 weeks ago....wouldnt she be concerned that she could still be in incubation period? or that even if she was asymptomatic , she could be infectious? if it were me , knowing that i had just cared for an ebola patient, and my coworker got infected, i would definately not be going about in crowded places like an airplane. the fact that she called CDC several times, seems like she knew something wasnt quite right. Always question things, even if they are "authorities".

I dont think theres an absolute yes or no answer that people on here are making it seem so. it seems to depend on HR. I saw my friends resume who recently was hired...and she had each clinical listed with 1 to 2 sentences describe unique skills learned at that clinical. obviously you dont want to write something like "assessed patients, administer med, etc... " for each clinical. she did list like one volunteer and one internship at the very bottom of the resume, and no description for them

I guess if you are not really desperate for income or worried about finding another job, then don't accept the offer.

hmmm 80K program , 15 months ABSN, NYC...sounds like you're describing NYU's program? I thought NYU would churn out competitive nursing students?

Thanks. I already have drug book (Davis). Also i have little reference books, like RN notes. I'm looking for a big book (like those big nursing med surg textbooks) that can sit on my desk at home and will be my go to for in depth information. I dont mind if it weighs a ton and is two feet thick or if its several volumes.

I'm looking for a good reference book to use as far as looking up diseases/conditions, nursing assessment, s/s, nursing interventions, etc... What do you nurses recommend?

Also like to add to the scenario that the person collapsed on the floor and can't move

Question for nurses. Let's say you are a med surge nurse walking down the hallway of your hospital and around the corner is the ED entrance. A man, who is not a patient, walking in front of you suddenly grabs his chest and collapses to the ground. He is short of breath and states he has chest pain. What do you do? Would you do anything different if he were a current patient?

Maybe its because you only been with your new employer for 3-4 months? like you said, you started getting confident after a year on the other job.

suppose i find a job next week , but not at my first choice. In February i interview and get an offer from my top choice. WOuld it be ok to quit my first job after 2 months? would I essentially be blacklisted from ever getting hired there again?

What does a case manager do?

So through my networking, there is high possibility of openings but not until Feb at a hospital. it is my dream job. Again it is a high possibility although no guarantee yet. Now i think its probably wise not to wait around for next year to roll around before i start applying for other jobs just in case. suppose, i apply for other hospitals now and get interviews and offers i nthe next week. how would i delay giving them a decision until i know for certain about the dream job? What would you do.

I was trying to find nurse salaries at a hospital and only came up with this on their website http://www.nyhq.org/Salary_and_Benefits I know this is a nursing forum, and yea yea md's make big bucks in the long run, but this seems very low for residents, and in NYC, and in one of the better private hospitals too? and it goes to PGy-8 (post grad year 8) so im guessing some harder specialties have longer residencies. Now i know residents arent making the big bucks yet, but for the amount of education they go through, I alwys thought residents make as much as RNs, PAs, or even slightly more..for comparision RN salaries at a decent private hospital like this one are like 70-80K (night shift probably over 80K) in NYC. Must be to weeds out some doctors only doing it for money? No im not complaining or anything, just satisfying my curiousity

In NYC, acute hospitals, new grad BSN, the low end is in high 60K range/year (city hospitals). Top hospitals (private) pay at least 80K/year.

Regarding the accelerated nursing program. when is the next deadline? I still see the old deadline for fall 2011 on their website. I assume next class is for fall 2012 right, cuz its once a year entry? is the application available?

it is considered bad work ethic to not let employer know before hiring of any time off planned and then asking for almost 2 weeks off only 2-3 months into the job. this just doesn't look good from management perspective .

i think its kinda late to tell them you planned 8 days vacation in Feb. Actually it's common to let your employer know if you had scheduled something prior to starting your job, whether vacation,appointments,obligtions, etc. I guess this must be your first full time job? It doesnt look too good that you bring up you want 8 days off a month after you've already started the job. I would reschedule

Of course i didnt advocate doing anything illegal or lying o get financial aid. putting money in a 401 k or IRA to lower adjusted gross income is not illegal; its financial planning. and it can save you a lot of money. BTW does financial aid require you list the money you have in Joint bank accounts? or is that not applicable?

sorry, im not understanding ??? my username, the "d" stands for the last letter of my first name, "00" is the 2nd and 3rd digit of my social, then "d00" is repeated because people think I am slightly OCD where i sometimes say things twice twice. "butter" because when i was 13 years old and eating at IHOP, it saved my life because i was choking on a pancake, so serious that i started seeing black circles and my mom shoved some butter down my throat to lubricate it down, so i am forever indebted to butter and make sure i always have it stocked in my fridge. without butter i would not be standing here today

i think you may be right. Google shows 16,500 as 2011 limit for 401k contribution. so even if my employer allows up to 50% contirbution per pay period, it will stop once it reaches the limit..someone confirm if this is right? When applying for financial aid., dont they look at adjusted gross income? not gross income? so if i can knock off 16500 from 60000, put another 5000 for IRA...my adj usted gross income could be as low as 38500.
