  1. oh so do they look at your prereqs at all???
  2. How difficult is it to get in? I'm not sure if texas's nursing programs are as complicated and insanely ridiculous to get in to.
  3. Are there any vocational schools in Wichita Falls, TX? I'm having a hard time finding accredited schools in the area besides Vernon College which I'm not sure if its a community college or not. can anyone please help. I may be moving there and need to find schools asap.
  4. I haven't attended Kaplan. I was hoping to start in November but unfortunately i won't have the financial paperwork done by then so hopefully I can start on the next start date. But Kaplan is 31,650 or something close to that, i don't remember the exact last three digits. CAJ was my first choice but I did CNA clinicals at the same place CAJ has some of their LVN clinicals and honestly it disgusts me. But I've never been to a nursing home so i'm not sure if this place is up to par but from what i've seen the nurses you work with will have you do things you aren't suppose to (one nurse told me to give a patient his medications). I spend 75% of the time listening to all the CNA's and nurses complain about Mr. A and Mrs. B and how Mr. C took too long to put his shirt on and Mrs. D wanted to take a shower. Sorry if I am at a clinical site I actually want to do the job i'm suppose to be learning. Not watching someone else do it. I could watch that on tv. But thats just my opinion. I'm sure the school itself if great but if I go there I WILL BE MISERABLE at that nursing home. They don't really treat the residents as people and is sickens me. but sorry I kinda went off the topic a bit. there is Twin Rivers, have you heard of that one? it's wonderful from what i hear but its a 2 year program.
  5. i actually skipped out on Blake Austin. they chick was rude and gave smart answers and it completely turned me away from the school. I also didn't like that on top of the $37,000 tuition there were other fees that added another $2,000. and as much as students pay id expect the place to be a bit nicer. the classrooms were old tables that weren't even level. sorry first impressions say a lot and that admissions chick should have left her problems at the door. I heard it was a good school but I've heard kaplan is good and its a bit cheaper, And everything but the test is included in the tuition. kaplan's pass rate is a bit lower than blake austin but the way i see it is that its all based on the student. =) Blake austin is a bit competitive they go through an admissions process but so does kaplan. im not sure how strict blake austin is but if you are interested kaplan is basically score high on two tests and your in. i can't remember exactly the prereqs i'll look for my folder they gave me and let you know. i wish carrington wasn't so expensive. i'd totally go there. but i suggest kaplan OR Charles A jones (its about $10,000 less) but you need to be a CNA for CAJ.
  6. Hi again! So I'm still a little confused. Would I be able to get my lvn license from a community college for example? Or don't it have to be throughout carrington?
  7. You're welcome! Good luck!
  8. My college GPA is terrible right now and I haven't even tried to apply to community colleges, i wish i could it is sooooo much more cheaper. I will be taking a test for blake austin college this friday, they are like 6,000 more dollars but i have heard more positive reviews from previews students. she started the interview with, "i'm gonna ask you two questions, the first is, do you have any medical experience and its ok if you don't. and the second is why kaplan?" i answered both then she asked if i had questions, and after asking 568635 questions i felt like i interviewed her. she was really nice and is suppose to be making improvements to the program but everyone there hyped up the program saying it was very competitive and selective in who they admit, so i just feel like the interview should have been more.
  9. they are still doing Hesi exams? i hate my so called "interview" like last week, after the interview i'm not so sure if i like it. she only asked me two questions and said it was ok that i don't have medical experience. she said i would know around the middle of april. have you looked into other school?
  10. Yeah so far Unitek is the only school i've encountered that is strictly only accepting Fannie Mae, which is RIDIC! Is there a Carrington location near you? I heard they are good too
  11. Anyone going to Kaplan Sacramento this May???
  12. to sasha67 i have not attended kaplan. i am hoping to start at the Sacramento campus in May but i'm nervous because i've read many mixed reviews about the program. but there is a new director of nursing who is supposedly WAAAY better than the previous. are you close to sacramento?
  13. hi! i havent attended carrington but i was speaking to one the current students and from what she said (i had customers while i was talking to her so i'm not 100% sure of this) is that you have to go through them for your LVN to do the LVN to RN bridge. she really enjoys it and feels like she is getting a good education. i asked her about all the rumors that it was terrible school with horrible pass rates but i guess since they changed from western to carrington it has been great. are you a lvn now? or a student?
  14. HI! i havent attended Unitek but i have looked into it. it seems nice but i really dont like that they only except one. . .idk what to call it but they only accept Fannie Mae for tuition. Have you looked into Kaplan?
  15. Great! Thanks! The review book is like elementary stuff but that fact that it is so simple is effing of my brain because I'm prepared for difficulty. Now after the test I just need to find money. Wish they accepted the Veteran Fee Waiver hahaha Again thank you mucho!
  16. Hey i know this is comepletely old but just wondering if you're a student at kaplan right now? i'm getting ready to take my hesi test next week and i'm freaking out. i could definitely use tips on passing. =)
  17. Thank you. I've looked into Unitek and I really liked them but right now my biggest problem with them is the money, they only accept Sallie Mae or whatever its called and the fact that only one type of payment (well company) is excepted makes me nervous. Kaplan excepts GI bills (hoping the soon to be husband changes his mind and passes that bill to me hehehe) I also considered Carrington but they require prereqs =/ and i honestly want my license as soon as possible so I can continue at CSUS for my BSN. It sounds like this is a lot of independent studying. Would you say you learned a lot? I mean besides the clinicals. Did you feel prepared for the board? Right now I am studying for the HESI and I'm sort of freaking out, I'm in my third year in college and with the way hings are going i'm going to be in school for a very very long time. And unfortunately I am at a point where willing to give up practically free college and get a $30,000 loan to be done in a year. tsk tsk. But yes, when it came to you personally would you say you learned enough to pass the board with flying colors AND feel comfortable working as an LVN?
  18. hi! so about studying for my HESI exam and i came on here to read reviews of the book Evolve Reach Admission Assessment Exam Review and while reading them i noticed some people where putting Hesi A2 or V2. Can someone tell me what those mean please. i'm searching for practice tests and i dont want to tudy a2 if i need v2 you know
  19. HI is anyone a student or graduate of Kaplan Sacramento? I just wanted to know about the application process. i know i need to turn in my transcripts but does anyone know if i could turn in my high school transcripts and not my college ones???
  20. i've been thinking about going to Unitek for LVN then doing the LVN to RN bridge. i know its accredited but i'm afraid when i start to look for a job they will look at where i went to school and not consider me because it is not a CSU or JC. i am currently at CSUS but as everyone knows the lottery is insane! and according to the pass rates it seems to be doing well. has anyone had a difficult time finding a job after graduation? what are the pre-reqs for the LVN program? do you fell like you learned a lot? would you say it is worth the $30,000? any opinions would be wonderful.
  21. to XtinaS thanks! my registration date is like december 13 =/ i really hope luck is on my side and i can get in otherwise i'm going to twin rivers which is waaaaay more expensive. however it is only 9 weeks but still like 10 times the price of ARC are you looking into LVN programs?
  22. Oh also! How long is the program? like a semester length or is it accelerated?
  23. K great! I am going CSUS but the english at arc isn't the same I mean it doesn't transfer. So I looked and it says I can take an assessment test. Do you think it would be best to take that now? Sorry for all the questions the people in the counseling center aren't very helpful.
  24. awww yay! i hope to. i just applied to arc last night. i go to sac state right now and with the economy the way it is i need to figure out another path to rn. you can just take nurse 100 correct? like i dont need any prereqs like bio or anything?
  25. hey! so you both have started that classes right? how do you like it?
