Average wait to get into an LVN program in CA?
I totally understand your situation! I wasn't expecting to be 26 I was expecting to be like 126. Its crazy, but a little scary for me at the same time. I was really getting use to the fact that I'd probably have to wait a few years. I think that what they are saying is that 1-10 have the best chance of getting in the program so they're having them go to the orientation. If any of the accepted students do not show up for the orientation (since it's mandatory) they will fill the seats at orientation. You would get an official acceptance letter there. I think that if 1-10 got in they would continue down the waitlist until seats were filled, whether they attended orientation or not. This is just what I interpreted, so it might not be right. If you end up calling them and getting an answer let us know. I've tried calling them and emailing them before and no one ever answers the phone, calls me back or answers my emails. When I call the main office they never listen to my question, they just transfer me mid sentence. I wish you the best of luck, I know it will be a tough decision! :)

Congratulations!!! I agree with futurenurse84 I think that chances are you're going to be offered a seat. What a tough delima you would be in. I don't know what your family situation is, if you had kids or what not, but if it were me I would accept it. My other half is still in school another semester here in Sacramento and if I got in I would be going without him for the first semester. I really hope things work out for you! :)

@ Futurenurse84 When you applied to the Del Norte campus did you fill out a separate application? I marked both boxes on one application and thought that I was applying to both programs, but I only got a letter from Eureka. I'm wondering if I needed to fill out two applications! :/ Congrats and Good Luck to you too!

Hey Guys! I got the letter today and I'm number 26 on the waitlist for LVN program! I guess that means I probably have a year wait. I'm totally excited! I don't know what to do with myself in the mean time. :)

YAY for you Tahoegal! If you don't get in this time you're guaranteed next year! I just applied to the LVN program, but I haven't gotten my letter yet. Hopefully tomorrow (Fingers Crossed)! I'm starting to get nervous.

WANTED: Nursing student tidbits of advice
@tvccrn2009 your post was just what I needed to hear! I know I am a little behind on the times, but Congratulations on graduating! I am always a little apprehensive on what to expect in nursing school, but your post really gave me some advice on how to keep the path straight in the program. I definitely want to print your post out and hang it on my bulletin board for day to day reminding. :) XtinaS

American River College CNA Program
Hey, Yah the CNA program at ARC is great! Were about to finish right now. The program is only one semester, but it doesn't last the whole semester. I would also sign up for the Home Health that same semester. As a new student to ARC you probably will not have a registration date early enough to get into the class, because it is so in demand. However, I suggest going to the orientation meeting anyway, because there is still a chance that you can get in on random selection. I really hope that you get in, because the class will really help pave your pathway to RN. You will learn a lot of patient care skills that will give you a leg up in any RN program. You also gain some patient work experience which is good in padding resumes and nursing school apps! I would definitely take your English assessment and your math assessment asap, because a lot of classes at ARC require those prerequisites. Better to take it now when there are not a lot of people trying to take the tests, than when its crowded at the beginning of the semester. :) Xtina

American River College CNA Program
Hey Guys! This is my first post, woot woot! Anyways, I was wondering if anyone is planning on taking Nurse 100 (the Nurse Assistant course) at American River College this coming Fall 2010? What have you heard about the program? Or if you have taken that class in the past, what was your experience like and what were your thoughts on the CNA Program? I know that the orientation is coming up soon, but I thought it would be cool to hear some thoughts before the program begins. Thanks, XtinaS
